What's on my mind: How to increase my weekly running mileage without having to change my bedtime, and by extension my waking-up time. I increased my mileage by 15% last week, and I slept only 6 hours every night that week. The extra time taken to run and stretch after the run really ate into my dinner time. I don't like working on insufficient sleep.

Or insufficient dinner?

This is about balance, choices and trade-offs.

One option is to increase the run time at the week-end, when presumably you are less constrained by the normal time book-ends of school and/or work.

You can move your iPhone's cursor around without taking your finger away from the keyboard if you press and hold the space bar for a second and then move your finger around.

For phones with ForceTouch, do the same thing but press harder instead of longer.

To get the right balance in our life, of work, sleep, food and whatever workout we do, is NOT easy.
Sometimes it's even very good to get off/change balance to reflect and create new/change habits.

Today I had to skip Ashtanga because of lack of sleep after the arrival of the new MBA.
But it's all good for me. My teacher have her issues and fears to deal with, when people don't show up I've realized too ;)
Can't spoil her just because I love both her and Ashtanga, to always be the persistent student.
The 'honeymoon', regardless what, always have an end.

My focus is and will be better with another Mac in the house

I agree. This has to do especially with trade-offs and choices.

The trouble with that is the load (that is the increase in mileage) will be too great for two days. I currently average 40 miles per week. I haven't gone past this mark, and I'd like to try. It can only be gradual. I'm thinking of cutting out my netflix time, which is usually between 45 mins- 1 hour. I can watch netflix on the weekends instead.

Although it seems obvious, I assume this is for the purpose of editing what you already typed? That is handy, although you can touch the text with your finger in the place you want edit to move the cursor. I thought Apple was getting the ability to slide you finger around on the virtual keyboard to enter text similiar to Android?

Yeah, think that's the intended use. The space bar cursor movement can reduce erroneous menu invocations if you mis-tap; I notice some users—myself included—will occasionally tap to position the cursor, notice it's not exactly where they want, and quickly tap again only to have the iOS device think you were double-tapping.

That'd be cool. I know since their allowance of third-party keyboards, SwiftKey has been an option, but it'd be nice to have support built right in.

Initially thought the 12.9” IPP would be too large. It arrived a couple of days before the keyboard, so I first used it as an unadorned (naked!) tablet. Now I’m typing on the keyboard. Which is pretty nice.

My concerns over it being too larger are fading. I like the screen size, and don’t find the size or weight hindering its daily use.

There are a few days left to decide, but I’m thinking I’ll keep it.

Don’t you have until Christmas to make up your mind due to Apples extended return policy for the holidays?

I’m talking about sliding your finger around to type, do you do that on your iPhone?

Oh Swype (or equivalent), I've used those types of KB systems several times, different platforms, not a fan, but I spend way more time on an actual keyboard and computer than I do a mobile device, so that's sort of my muscle memory mechanism (tapping keys, vs. dragging across them).

Me too. Apple started throwing a little Getting Started card into the box and subtracted some of my eagerness to prowl user manuals. But in an era of hyperlinked support docs and "Pro Tip" bloggers, how is it that so much helpful stuff still manages to escape our ever even clicking on it?

I wonder about that every time I discover some option in a Mac OS application that I've used for years and somehow just never latched onto that particular handy gesture or key combo. Never discovered tab-apostrophe as way of cycling through open TextEdit documents until a few years ago. I felt stupid when I noticed that handy option. Not stupid enough to stop at once and prowl other apps for other handy options though. Saving a few unexpected jelly beans for another day, I guess.
