Anyone know where this quote comes from? "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present"

It seems to beeen misattributed to Lao Tzu, so who knows?

I don't think it's really as simple as that..... Major depression is a serious illness, and also clinically-diagnosable persistent anxiety -- both can have a devastating impact on the way someone is trying to live their life and this is something which cannot just be casually dismissed in a silly quote.

The complexities of human relationships. Sometimes I’d love to just live in a cave, and I must admit that if I were to naturally die today or tomorrow I wouldn’t be too disappointed.

But a cave equipped with hot and cold running water, flushing toilets, heat, light, books and coffee, one assumes.....

Perhaps with wine, (and cheese and good bread), as well...

Didn't people in your family died recently?....parts of ourselves indeed dies with them.

Out of own experience, it seems to release unexpected content from our un-consciousness. Take some cave-time and meditate and take care of yourself.
Life IS brighter and we are reborn again after those transforming events.

Yes, but the thoughts are not linked to the tragic event.

Take some cave-time and meditate and take care of yourself.
This is probably one of the most important things to do in life, regardless of own’s tradition definitions for cave time and meditation (they’re more or less very similar at the core.)

Some godawful country music being played at a concert at a stadium near my house, which I can hear from over a mile away... making it a bit hard to practice my own music

Too bad you couldn't call for an air-strike. ;)

Hello all, just returned from two weeks on the West Coast of Canada seeing family. Still a bit jet-lagged and now back at it as the semester begins next week. Bloody hot here in Switzerland but at least there aren't any forest fires like back home.

I have just the place for you: https://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/whereilive/coast/stages.shtml?walk=centralandfife&stage=5 – that is, if you have a luminous left elbow. :)

Seriously, though, Scotland has many wonderful places where one can quietly contemplate life in relative or complete solitude. It is worth a visit if you need to get away.
