The post office informs me that they have two packages to deliver tomorrow.

That's the good news. The bad news is that tomorrow is Friday and that's a very bad day as far as the post office actually delivering packages. Tracking will show the package is on the truck and "out for delivery".........and in a sense that's true, but sometimes it isn't delivered until some time the following week.

So as of today they have two packages that are supposed to show up tomorrow......we'll see what happens

Later in the evening the Post Office tracking said their shipping partner had picked up the package in Buena Park (which is about a 45 minute drive away from me in Los Angeles) but it now wasn't expected to be delivered until Saturday.

This morning Post Office tracking said the package had left Wilmington Delaware. And then later tracking showed that the package had left Baltimore......you'll note that these two cities are thousands of miles from Los Angeles.

I'm now not expecting it to show up on Saturday.

The other package is said to be on the truck and out for delivery.

Here in NYC most of the shipping companies (UPS, Fedex and USPS) have turned "last mile" delivery (like to my door) to smaller local delivery services. They pick up a 20 foot truck full of stuff, go to a neighborhood and break it down onto small carts for door to door. So it's passing through a lot more systems than a direct delivery. PITA but that's the system. Mostly works.

Interesting... USPS does some of the "last mile" delivery for UPS in my area of Los Angeles.

When I went out this morning I discovered two packages left at my door that by Amazon's delivery service......neither of them were for me. They were addressed to somebody else at a different address number on a different street.....they had the right apartment number tho.

Meanwhile the package I'm expecting from Amazon has gone from a Los Angeles suburb to two cities on the east coast and now back to a different suburb of Los Angeles....USPS tracking says it still hasn't actually received the package from Amazon.

Sounds like you have the same "service" I do. You could try complaining to Amazon, I guess.

This has been an unusually problematic shipment for some unknown reason. An AI bot playing a joke on the humans perhaps?

My other package has arrived though,
Is there anything in the box that would require special shipping? When I buy compressed gas cans they have to be trucked.

Nope, it's an iPad......and having just looked at tracking, I find that the package has now returned to the Amazon facility in Buena Park, the Los Angeles suburb where it started its trip to the east coast and back

I guess the "system" gave up and decided to go back and start over.

Hope springs eternal. 🤞

so much for "not until Monday"....just now as I was reading an email from Amazon saying it wouldn't be delivered today, and maybe not until Tuesday, I received a text messaging saying a package had just been placed in one of the secured delivery lockers downstairs and was available for me to come fetch it

And it goes round and round and ended up there. I hope you got it.

Played three gigs in the past day - last night I played at a small house party with bass, guitar, and drums; this morning, I played at a coffee house (same one that I usually play at) with the same lineup plus a sax player, and then this afternoon I played with the same lineup plus a singer.

Performing is so much fun for so many reasons, and although I leave for college next week, I'm not even done (I have three more gigs left)!

Actually no! I'm going to a small school in Wisconsin called Lawrence University that has a very good music program. I applied (and got accepted into) Berklee, but I ultimately decided against it because the culture there isn't really my thing.
Enjoy Wisconsin. One of 5 states I’ve been to.
As for packing it’s never taken me too long when I was single and all my stuff fitted into a car.
But our last move after 18 years living in the same house together took forever.
That’s why we are never doing it again. I’m leaving here in a box.

Except for a certain president who has an air defense system at his home which was 30 km (?) away ...

Now the intelligence seems to point to a bomb. Apparently, Western satellites can detect even the flare of a SAM launch. They didn't detect one so they say it must be a bomb. Doesn't matter either way to Prigozhin. And I guess a few sticks of TNT is cheaper then a BUK missile.

In a coffee shop.
I know! It's too much of a hassle to bring my keyboard up there, so I'm gonna leave that here. We've shipped everything else there already, so there's not much for me to pack
Good luck with your packing.

Is there no way to bring your keyboard with you, or, will you buy, beg, borrow, a keyboard while you are in Wisconsin?
