Ugh -- surgery! Having had more than a few of those myself, I can understand your lack of enthusiasm about this upcoming one! But, sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and do what is necessary. Hopefully after it's all done, and you're back to feeling good again, you'll find that there were some benefits to it after all and that it was worthwhile. At least doing it now during your summer break will give you time for recuperation before heading back to college in August or September.

Yeahhhh... it's okay though. I'll feel much better afterwards. Glad I'm doing it before I go back in the fall.

Surgery scheduled, which I am NOT looking forward to. But have to do it, so... idk.
Good luck with the surgery.

Better scheduled that unscheduled like I had in 2022 when everything changed.

I’m feeling mentally exhausted at the moment from work and it’s affecting my normal training for cycling. I’m just so mentally exhausted I don’t feel like jumping on indoor trainer, but outside it’s too dark early in the evening and if I don’t ride them my fitness falls away quickly. Sigh.

Work sadly. Despite being off Thursday and Friday I had to deal with a break in last night. Got home around 1:30 am.

Bad enough. But a number of calls and messages regarding it that quite frankly could have waited today (starting at 8 am), means work is sadly at the forefront of my mind.

Going to be a long week me thinks.

Had my credit card zapped as my CU caught a couple unauthorized charges; new card was supposed to be here in 7-10 days. Now my CU has sent FOUR notifications that charges have been disapproved because I haven't activated my new card yet, please activate it. But I haven't even received it yet, wtf?? Has my new card been compromised before I even received it??
I am thankful my CU is vigilant in catching bad charges, but still this is frustrating as hell.

That's ugly but it's happening far too often.

Back in the 1990s, prisoners at Graterford Prison outside Philadelphia, PA were working with a number of bank employees and others to get card information directly from the bank. It greatly simplified their goal in buying weapons, computers, and other items. I was talking with someone else who worked at the hospital. She had a transaction for over US$3000 while I "only" had one for US$730.

I can't imagine that bank personnel could be coerced into revealing such private information.

Oh my god, things just don't get better, do they. My mom's car got stuck in a flood and stalled--both of us are okay, but the water was waist high.

Not sure if the car is able to be fixed. I don't know how cars work at all, but maybe it's possible to drain it out, I have no idea. AAA won't get to it until 3:00 AM. She took me home (using a different vehicle). I offered to help, but she said she'll handle it.

EDIT: She left the car at the site of the flood and will come back to get it towed in the morning. I'm sure I'll have another update then.

Strange (and VERY unsettling) that this happened exactly six months, TO THE DAY, after I got hit by a yellow Jeep barreling down an icy road.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day? FINALLY???? Just one good day would be awesome--that's all I want right now.

Glad you are okay. Yes generally cars can be dried out. The main issue isn’t the engine, but if water got in the cabin. Drying all that out so it doesn’t go mouldy in the future is more of a challenge.
Good luck with it.

I should have purchased a brand new iPhone 13 mini instead of a brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max back when I made that puchase...

What I should have done many months later is purchased a pre-owned/brand new iPhone 13 Pro which the price should have gone down...

I now have a pre-owned iPhone 13 Pro in Sierra Blue not the Alpine Green that I preferred [it has 512GB storage and 100% battery health] but I still want to own an iPhone 13 mini or iPhone SE 2016 whichever is available once I have the money for purchase, however, looking at the specs of the two, the iPhone 13 mini is the better option...

Of course you should've! The 13 mini is the best modern phone, no doubt from my perspective!
I bought a midnight, and will hold on to my mini, and replace the battery when it's too low.
But it's still on 90%, so I'm good for quite some time.
I’m actually good with all my Apple stuff right now. It’s a a good tech-place to be.

See what kind of phones Apple comes with later? Flip, flop or fold things? Hope they are smaller then todays phones in smallest scenario though. Todays iPhones are too big for me.

Otherwise, my mind is on my meditation practice, that moves in new directions, as it should at times.
Intetesting, right now though.
How we take care of our mind is just as important as the body.

I like my 2022 iPhone SE with the A15, just like the iPhone 13. It may look bad to many people, but it works so well.

Every time I have to help someone with a full screen iPhone, I struggle with the !@#$ gestures!

I'm thinking about finishing my one work day this week. I'm almost thankful since it's going to be 111 degrees F/43.8 degrees C on Wednesday. It hasn't been that hot for a while. While walking home today, the intensity of the sun seemed overly strong and I ended up waiting in the shade for an Uber ride partway home.

Before the iPhone without a home button, I used an iPhone 7 Plus... After watching several YouTube videos and actually owning an iPhone 14 Pro Max for more than a year, I got used to the gestures, specifically, going back to the home screen, triggering/launching the app switcher, accessing Control Center and Notification Center...

I'm sure that my next phone will require that kind of training for me.

More weird Audacity pitch-shifting stuff... when I transposed a track down one semitone, so much information in the audio was lost that the top note of each chord sounded completely garbled. How strange!

Thankfully it sounds like nobody was injured. That's the main thing. I wish your family well.

0nce during a thunderstorm I came to an intersection at the bottom of a hill. Being unfamiliar with the area, I thought the water was only a few inches deep and I would just power through it to the hill on the far side of the intersection. So, like an imbecile, I gunned that car and ... it suddenly decelerated in 2 feet of water, floated for a few seconds, and then sank like a rock. The locals nearly broke their ribs laughing (but gave me hot chocolate in exchange for me helping them move furniture to their second floors). Anyway the car did dry out enough that the next morning I could start the engine. I even managed to get the inside of the car and the trunk dry before they got moldy. However, the electrical system was never the same and was a constant problem ever since. My advice is to sell the car, if you can, and get a new one.

EDIT: Don't worry - I do not drive any more. ;)

I have the first gen of Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse but I also have the Logitech K780 multi-device keyboard and the Logitech M330 mouse. I can't decide which combo I want to use

Hope everyone is okay - physically, mentally, emotionally, - after that trauma.

Candidly, the health of your mom is far more important than that of a car, which can be replaced, or sold, if it cannot be repaired (or restored).

Indeed.

Still no update on the situation, actually. The specific intersection, which is of two small side streets, flooded particularly bad. So much that it actually made it on the news. It was very weird, I've never seen or experienced anything like that before.

I went back over there yesterday, and it was as if nothing ever happened. I have a picture of it, both flooded and afterward, but I won't post it, cause I don't want to give away my location--it's very close to my house.
