I have just listed my 12.9 (Gen 4) and 11 (Gen 1) so am hoping for a release date very soon!

Based on what is assumed to be announced, I will likely order;

- 12.9 / 13
- 256 GB
- Cellular
- Gloss display (Will apply a Matte SP)
- Magic Keyboard
- Pencil 3

Just have to sit and wait and hope that mine sell quickly and the new models are released even quicker!

"That will be £2,999 please. If you could instead your card that would be great".

What do/will you use your iPad for, out of interest?

You’re likely not far off! Shocking, isn’t it.

I use mine mainly for consumption. Sofa, bed, travel. It’s lightweight (in comparison to my MBP 16) and serves me well for browsing, reading, viewing, email, notes, quick work edits, etc.

Similar to me then. I'm just not sure if i can justify what I think will be £1,300-1,400 (i'd likely want to buy the new pencil, too) given my light use. Especially when there is more interesting tech coming (high refresh 4k monitors and RTX 5090).

I suspect the 13in Air will be priced to make the upgrade to the 13in Pro seem not too bad (£300 or so perhaps), so that won't help much, haha.

I’m planning on upgrading, maybe, depending on what comes out exactly. I use mine for CAD work with Shapr3D and the pencil. I also am moving more of of my laptop work over to the iPad, however it’s still not there with stage manager… the latency when using a mouse is very bad. I do a lot of work via Coder which is a web based VS Code, but due to the poor mouse interface it’s just not ready to fully replace my laptop yet. Fingers crossed they figure out a better middle ground so I can ax my 2018 laptop with the next major ipadOS release.

I will use my iPad for drawing, entertainment, note taking, photo and video editing, etc. I'm also using it to replace my Mac in some situations. I will also need a lot of storage, so I will likely order:
13"
Space Grey (or whatever new colour they release)
2TB
Cellular
Magic Keyboard
Pencil 3
Magic Mouse with USB-C (if that's released, I'm replacing my Magic Mouse to exterminate Lightning from my ecosystem)
Paperlike screen protector from Amazon (I wouldn't want my extremely expensive iPad to get scratched)

the rumors suggest next week I think may not happen, if Apple were to announce preorders Tuesday the following Friday is a holiday banks are closed in the states. A early April preorder date makes more sense.

That will actually be well over £3,000 in the UK, just for the iPad and keyboard (currently £2679 + £379, respectively). I'm struggling to process the fact people are willing to spend this much money on an iPad, lol. No wonder Apple is likely to increase the price again.

I see a couple of you here prefer a 12.9” for basic consumption. You don’t find it too large for couch/bed use? I’m a first time iPad buyer (going to buy the 2024 pro, I want ProMotion and OLED) and I’m having a really hard time deciding between the 11” and the 13”. I feel like I’ll like the screen size of the 13” and it’ll be nicer to use for productivity tasks, but I’m worried it’ll be too big for couch/bed use and basic consumption, which is what my iPad will mostly be used for. Any insight you folks can provide to help me decide?

The iPad Pro M2 announcement date fell on a Tuesday, and it released the following week on that Wednesday... I'm hoping that this is the process Apple go with.

Everyone is different and will view the size differently based on their preference.

I first had an 11” Pro, then upgraded to a Gen 2 11” but felt it wasn’t right, so returned it for a 12.9 (Gen 4) which I’ve had for around 4 years.

I’ve also had a Mini 6 during that time and it was quaint but I hardly used it once the novelty had worn off and sold it.

The 12.9 suits me and my needs and I couldn’t go back to an 11.

For reference, I have an iPhone 15 Pro always with me. MacBook Pro 16” for when I’m on the move and need to work. iMac 27” on my desk and my iPP 12.9 for consumption and lightweight use.

I've had an iPad Pro 12.9 in since the first one came out and really enjoy the size. I use it on a table/desk most of the time. It is quite large when using it on the sofa, etc, but i love the extra screen real estate.

At the end of the day, you'll have to decide... but to share my experience I've had all sorts of iPads from the Mini, Air to Pro.

As soon as the 12.9 Pro was introduced... I went with that option and haven't moved from that size since. But it was daunting at first, took a while to adjust to it. But I preferred the bigger display... helps when it comes to multitasking and productivity tasks.

But I think the 11" inch is more so for folks who value the core use of an iPad... the tablet-first aspect.

This, size you like is totally personal preference plus how good your eye sight is in the case of phone screens. Best thing to do is visit a store and handle them both, no need to wait for the new models to do that. And then buy what you think you'll like and keep it pristine to see if you get in with it for a couple of days, can always return it then.

I live in Canada so the price will be quite worse, and I spent the last few months saving up. The reason why I'm getting the maxed out one is because my last iPad Pro (the 12.9" 2020 model) was almost full when I gave it to my sister and that was 512GB. My iPhone 13 Pro Max (also 512GB) is also almost completely full. I don't want to worry about running out of storage and as much as I hate the disgusting storage prices, you can't upgrade the storage or RAM yourself, and I don't feel like keeping my iPad plugged into an SSD dongle 24/7, especially since it has only one Thunderbolt port
