No it's not. Yes, only a "minority" of people will, most likely, answer the poll. But the numbers can be revealing. If the results so far did show 90% for Time Machine and 10% for SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner combined, then your initial assertion would have been accurate, But it's nowhere close to that.

You are making pointless to have a reasonable disagreement. I still stand by my valid assertion that you are way off with your initial prediction, and that I am better than correct. I actually was expecting about 30% for SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner combined, but it's much better than that.

Look, there's just no point discussing this further if you cannot actually understand the simple thing I am saying. I've been saying the same thing and every time you've ignored it and turned it into time machine vs 3rd party backup. I will not be discussing this any further on that basis, especially as it's getting in the way of the main topic of the thread.

I’m 2-0 up for predictions this week.

My track record is mixed, I was bang on the money for most the Dev Beta's, the public betas I was about 75% right, but the 11.0.1 beta threw me lol :) I'm sticking with Big Sur getting public release next week, either a few hours after the event or the next day. Whether that is 11.0 and 11.0.1 comes a little later, or just straight to 11.0.1, I'm just not confident of which now lol :)

You are the one who initially claimed that less than 10% of Mac folks use SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner combined. I have, for many years, been well, well aware that way more than 10% of Mac users use those excellent programs. Thus, that is one of the main reasons why I started the poll. You can't acknowledge that simple fact, and that your less than 10% "assertion" was way, way off. And based on other posts about those two programs here, that confirms my assertion.

So, to sum up: you were, and still are, WAY WAY off regarding your ridiculous "less than 10%" claim, and it is obviously based on something voodoo. In fact, it definitely is fake news.

Don't forget your aborted "less than 10%" fake news assertion about SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner.

Wow. You think that this forum has 10% of the Mac user base using it and answering your poll? 😆 the last number I can find is 100 million Mac users. Are there 10 million that have answered your poll? Nope, you only have 49 votes in total.

Prove there are more than 10 million or more users using those 2 apps and I’ll concede my point. Give me facts & evidence. Until then, you are the one that’s fake news, buddy.

Ok, what is the commotion about the SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner? I think lets just focus in speculating which date it will be release.

Apple will not change their time lines even if those two will not work. Aren’t those third party apps?

Anyway, Majority including my self thinks the release will be next week either during or next day of the event. Fingers cross. Though, as always, it can change since apple likes to surprise us this 2020.

i’m excited to install it in my main machine. I’ve been playing around with the current RC and testing it, together with my company’s apps and it’s been great in the test machines.
Man, where have you been?

First, no one ever said that Apple is going to change their time line because those two programs "do not work". Where was that stated? Point to a post that says that.

Secondly, those two programs (plus countless others, including some critical ones) are third party applications. For me, there are at least 5 critical programs that are not yet compatible with Big Sur, and thus I am going to wait.

Third, this scenario happens with every Mac OS release. And also, it is a historical fact that the first few versions of a mac OS release contains bugs.

Man, talk about being clueless!

I never said any numbers like that. You are the one who continues to spew out fake, clueless news. I still say that the number of folks who use SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner combined is WAY above 10%. Maybe not 50%, as with the poll here, but certainly WAY, WAY above your "fake news" less than 10% "claim".

You need to go back to your dream world!

You just said in the post I’m quoting that 50% of Mac users use those 2 apps, based on your poll of 50 people, in a niche thread, on a forum that is not even close to being a representative of the 100 million Mac users.

You cannot provide anything more than your opinion and 50 people on this forum to prove your point. Which it doesn’t.

You’re embarrassing yourself!

On that basis, if you can’t accept those facts, there’s no point carrying on. You can reply if you want, but you’ll be shouting into the wind. Bye Felicia!
Talk about clueless, and being narrow minded. I still stand by what I said earlier, that your "less than 10%" statement is totally false.

I rest my case. Goodbye, oh clueless one!

I hope it's 11.0.2 🥳
Just collecting another sys info report to send to Apple o_O. Will see if my finder works again after a reboot...
I do think that Big Sur has quite some glitches left

Man, where have you been?

LOLs. Sorry man. I live under a rock and not following this thread. 😂:p

In regards to other apps, i read somewhere that adGuard will release another update next week ( before the Big Surr release, to fix some issues related to BIG Surr. Some are work around until apple fix their bugs related to Network Extension) and also NextDNS (to support the built in Encrypted DNS feature, same as iOS 14, after the BIG Surr release). Both of them assumes that the release is next week.

Those two are the ones i really track at the moment and i've been lurking around to check what are the possible hardware announcements in Nov 10. I might pull the trigger and be a guinea pig with the first Apple Silicon machine macbook pro (if they announce it).

Third party compatibility has ALWAYS been an issue with OS releases. So if you are a longtime Mac user, you should know that already.

Myself, there are 5 critical applications that I use which must be compatible with Big Sur before I make the move from Catalina: Onyx, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, SuperDuper!, and Tech Tool Pro. And if recent history is any indicator (and I suspect it will be), Tech Tool Pro will be the last one, and not until January. But that's fine, as I suspect the third "major" version of Big Sur will be out be then, ie, OS 11.2.x, and thus just about all the bugs in the initial releases will be gone. Meanwhile, Catalina is working just fine.
