Let's talk about verifiability and the problem of induction . . .

Tomorrow Apple will release macOS 23 "Ham Sandwich" . . . and, frankly, I will be no more surprised
than when my morning cup of coffee fails to kill me.

And, while Tim Cook is not God (well, not as far as I know), his mind is as closed to Thee and Me
as that of God.

Getting back on topic of speculation about when Apple will release Big Sur into the wild & not about 3rd party app compatibility (anyone that want's to discuss that should go to a thread about that).....

I'm wondering how quick after the event it will be. Hopefully within an hour or so of it finishing :)

Man, talk about being clueless!

I never said any numbers like that. You are the one who continues to spew out fake, clueless news. I still say that the number of folks who use SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner combined is WAY above 10%. Maybe not 50%, as with the poll here, but certainly WAY, WAY above your "fake news" less than 10% "claim".

You need to go back to your dream world!
If it’s even 1% I’d be surprised.

You do realise that if 10% of Mac users had SuperDuper they would’ve made AT LEAST 290 million on the software? Not including upgrades?

If it was 50% they would’ve made more than a BILLION on the program.

I hope it’s released this coming week. I got a new Mac mini recently that I want to update before I start moving my stuff over! Tried the beta and it was stable. Should be good to start it on a fresh install of Big Sur :D. I am aware it might take a few point updates to get it to 100% but I am looking forward to the journey!

True. Anyway I stopped backing up my whole system. Installations of OS and apps are mostly auto managed nowadays so if I wanted to do a restore and clean install it takes no time over a speedy connection.

I just keep my home directory backed up and most important home/office documents stored in encrypted disk image files on encrypted drives.

I’ll definitely update my personal machine when it gets release hopefully this week. The RC version seems is great in my test machines.

I wonder if we will have another beta 11.0.2 a week after the release. The Nutrition Info is mentioned as coming later this year:

  1. Privacy information on the App Store will be coming in a macOS Big Sur update later this year.
Not unless it is already included in 11.0.1 which i doubt as apple is asking devs to have these Details starting Dec 8. I think we might have both 11.0.2 and ios 14.3 betas in the coming weeks.

That will be a separate release, that will come alongside iOS 14.3, as it’s an App Store thing, and both OS’s have this coming to them.

I just done a clean install from USB so if it released tomorrow it will be a small insignificant update. Just want to get rid of that beta wording. 😝

I have just wobbled along with my 2018 Mac Min minimum specifications and all the macOS 11 beta releases,
and beyond it having problems with PNG image rendering in LiveCode

[which is a problem from my point of view as I "live LiveCode"]

have noticed no problems whatsoever.

Yes, but as it is 20:48 here in Bulgaria it is unlikely to be available to us until the 13th.

Not that a day's wait is going to hurt anyone.

Whatever time you normally get the updates, in your case, 8:00 PM, your local time on the 12th. My area in southern California, 10:00AM. my advice is to disconnect any external devices, particularly, USB, so you won't have any startup problems. Mac doesn't like non-Apple devices, particularly at startup. When you install Big Sur it's easier. I have been with Macs since OS X Mavericks, this is probably the first time I am doing a little more preparing for this one. The only one I had a minor issue was OS X El Capitan with some minor crashes that were resolved later.

Never had any issues. This used to be a topic „back in the times“ when the USB implementation was even worse than today, and devices did draw too much power etc...

‘Beta’ is gone from About This Mac.

Build number no longer has a letter.

My MacBook isn't picking up RC2 yet.... Wanted to get it done before getting an early night.

Yep, just finished the install here. I dont remember any of the previous betas asking for the Analytics opt-in after install or the 'Setting up your Mac' screen before either. Looks like we may have "the one" finally.

Is RC2 the final build / GM?
Seeing as we're getting a release on Thursday, either it is, or we're getting an 11.0.0 Thursday and 11.0.1 next week, tying into the new Macs being available. I am thinking more the former, than the latter these days.

20B28 here
On the end. The middle has always had a letter.

From what I remember the first number (20) is the OS version, the middle letter (B) is the branch, and the last two digit number (28) is the current version of this OS.

That means macOS 11 is the 20th version of the operating system. The first three were internal builds at Apple. The first version of Mac OS X was build 4K78.
