Apple's communication.

Ok, 2.16ghz units are shipping. What gives? How many people asked if we could order without losing a place in line? I would have happily given them 300 bucks. They insisted it was at least 3-4 weeks out if I ordered the 2.16 ghz. Nice communication apple. I guess this proves that the communication between manufacturing/shipping, and customer service is really fowled up! Anyone else feeling similar?

After reading so many issues along the lines of what you mention, I definitely feel that way. Plus, when I called last week to say that I did not want to upgrade to the 2.16ghz processor, I was told that my macbook absolutely would not ship until Feb 28 as stated on my order status. Lo and behold, it shipped this past Saturday.

communication.

again with the bad communication between customer service and manufacturing/shipping. How many people that would have given up the 300 bucks for the 2.16 did they lose? Enough to help their stock!

Well I was also told it would not ship before the 28th, but I decided that was fine. Beyond that point I was just happy/excited and you can see why. But if you weren't willing to wait a week or so longer for the 28th, then I can't really feel bad for you because that was me to and I still deemed the upgrade worthwhile. I benefited from that thought process, I personally feel worse for those who unknowingly or were misinformed by Apple or other's that they wouldn't ship until mid-march (aka 3 or 4 weeks). Mine said the 28th, I was expecting the 28th, but I could live with that for the processor. But had I been told the 16th or 3-4 weeks, I may have held with the 2.0 ghz processor. Luckily I got a smart customer service representative @ apple. Thanks Jermaine!:D

Monday a.m. - still in the air...

Well - so much for my theory that we'd know more this morning. Mine still says 'departed Anchorage 8:48pm on Feb 18'. So I would guess, earliest is delivery tomorrow.

Why is it taking so long for an update?

If anyone is keeping track, it looks like mine shipped last night. 2Ghz, 7200RPM HD CTO. I ordered the evening of Jan 10th.

Customs

I just talked to FedEx, and after some transfers to the Distribution group, I was told it was clearing customs in Anchorage today. He said I should see it either tomorrow, or Wednesday, depending whether it catches the plane out this evening. Does US Customs work goods on Presidents Day?

I need mine to ship soon so I can't start getting something done, instead of checking the damn status of my order day and night.

What it particularly irratating is that my order still shows an Estimated ship date of Feb 15th, and estimated delivery of Feb 23rd. I have no idea why it never updated. I ordered 1/12 7am.

Same here... but mine has shipped and my FedEx tracking page just says it left Anchorage on Saturday night but nothing further! As it gets down to the moments before it arrives, I'm getting more crazy it seems...

Call up apple and complain about the slow shipping if you got 2 day shipping, they will give you your money back.

Ok who volunteers to call the FedEx hub and find out if they are working today??
I'm not volunteering, but here in Upper Michigan FedEx is working. I spotted a truck about an hour ago, and it was making deliveries.

Concur. Also, it's been posted previously that FedEx works on President's Day via a link to their website.

I want 'em in stores!

But the question is NOT whether FedEx is working today. We all know that. The question is whether customs is checking and passing parcels today.

Everything in Anchorage may be stuck there until tomorrow simply because they haven't passed customs.

My question, though, is those of us whose FedEx tracking page says it left Anchorage at 8:48pm on Feb 18.... are they really out of Anchorage, or are they still up there caught up in customs? Some people are saying they see that theirs are in Indianapolis, IN this morning... why hasn't mine updated?

It took 6 hours after the fact for mine to actually reflect that it is in Indiana. Remember, this is Monday, and FedEx has a shipping backlog from Friday. Mondays tend to be pretty hectic as it is because they don't deliver on the weekend normally, and they are pushing out larger than normal volume. Apple shipping a few thousand notebooks doesn't help either.

My guess is that tomorrow people will start receiving them. The plane that landed in Indiana is being unloaded, split for various destinations, and then combined with a lot of other incoming packages for cost reasons (if they just sent it direct to Seattle, I would have had it by now, but it would have been a lot more expensive for FedEx to do so). Today, the MBPs in Indiana will leave towards the local distro centers for delivery tomorrow unless there is something clogging the pipeline.

Was yours on that same flight that left out of Alaska at 8:48pm on 2/18, or a different one?

One possibility is that they left the FedEx location to go to Customs where they are now patiently awaiting clearance.
