I doubt it. My personal gut instinct is that the planes coming from Alaska are going to Indiana specifically. I would suspect that Alaska has about one plane coming in from Shanghai once a day, and that plane is simply rerouted to Indiana for cost reasons. At Indiana, they can split the incoming cargo onto different planes, and add in other cargo from similar planes inbound from the east coast, Canada, Mexico, and so on, and then send out a dozen fully-loaded planes from there.

I would be practically willing to bet money that all the Shanghai->Anchorage planes were refueled, cleared through customs, and sent onward unchanged to Indiana. If that wasn't the case, then I would have my MacBook by now, as Seattle has a pretty sizable and capable facility for FedEx Express off Boeing Field.

Popped up in Memphis, and then raced to Houston. You were right about the whole plane going on, though, it seems. From this it looks like release happened in Memphis this morning.

Will it make the morning truck? If not, I'll have to swing by FedEx on the way to work.

It is so close now...

Yep now hope it makes the mornming truck here although it hasn't landed in LA yet (actually Burbank)...but I think there's a chance it might :)

As an AAPL stockholder, and longtime Apple/MacMall customer, I seem to have a tolerance for the receipt and delivery process. Maybe it's because I see a profit jump for next quarter - and that's a good thing for investors. Whatever the reason I will be patient.

btw - I had many conversations with MacMall yesterday, and was told the MBP's will arrive in the Memphis warehouse last night/today, and will start shipping tomorrow. I did change my delivery from UPS Ground to 2-day UPS so I should get it this Friday. I ordered a 1.83 (upgraded by the speed bump), and 2GB RAM, Wacom tablet and bag on 1 Feb.

It's on the truck!!

By the way - I am participating in this largely enjoyable interchange because of the shared excitement, not so much because I don't have a life, or am emotionally involved in this delivery process.

Apple is a pretty great company - they make things that add alot of value to my life (making movies and photo's of my family, mostly, but also navigating information, and making 'the computer' less of a burden to maintain and protect). But they are a company. If shipping or manufacture gets delayed sometimes - so be it. I don't ascribe any emotional content to it. Sometimes a complex entity will do things that are unfair to some, trying to be fair to others. But mostly trying to make money - that is what companies are for (regrettably - I am not a capitalist red in tooth and claw - but some of my best friends are...).

PS I won't be able to post pictures - not that I see the real interest in that anymore there will be many many people who get their MBPs today - because I have to rush to work as soon as the computer arrives...

Anybody heard of their 1.83's being shipped? I'm still waiting for updates on mine. Ordered Jan. 10, estimated shipping by Feb. 28.

Got It!!!!!

Woo hoo! Just unboxed, and I'm typing this in Safari on my new MBP. Damn, this thing is sweet. Huge improvement over my Dell Inspiron 6000 and my old iBook G3 500. :)

I'm happy to answer questions, but I'm sure there'll be a thousand posts just like this one in the next hour or two. Thanks goodness for Eastern time. :)

Dang..... don't think mine will make the truck for the morning delivery today... still shows at destination sort facility in Burbank.... :( usually if stuffs not on the truck by 7am it ain't gonna make it today.... really bummed...

1.83 MBP: Has anyone called the appel hotline? Any news about shipping dates?

I did call and they told me Feb. 28. Ordered Jan. 10. We're the third class customers. Anyway, I'm happy with those who got their 2.0's today! Please give us updates on battery life whenever you get to it. Enjoy!

Well this seems like as good a first post as any

I got my shipping notification at 9:08 AM today.
2.0 ghz
7200 RPM HD

I'm sure you've all seen the shipping dates everyone has got, but I thought that I would add to them.

Order Date: 1/23
Original Shipping Date: 2/28
Original Arrival Date: 3/03
Revised Shipping Date: 3/03
Revised Arrival Date: 3/10
Acutal Shipping Date: 2/21
Predicted Arrival Date: 2/24

So it shipped earlier than it was even orginally scheduled to for me, so I am happy for the moment. I can't wait to get my hands on this, it will be my first Apple product. In the past 7 years I've been through 2 desktop PCs (one fried and one is dying) and one laptop (2 dead batteries, 2 dead cd/dvd drives, 2 hard drive failures in 3 years.) Oh and my current junk PC has been randomly rebooting (did it 4 times in 5 hours last night), so there was no way to hold out for a RevB. It seems that everyone I know has an apple and loves it, iBooks, powerbooks, iMacs (and a slew of older ones that I can't name that are still running) I went in the market for a new laptop when the rumors started about intel apples being introduced in Jan, so I held off, but that was as long as I could hold off, talked to a bunch of people who had switched and decided to go for it.

Now its time to think about toys . . . external hard drives and the like. . . I haven't even gotten the thing yet and I'm already planning new toys.

Mine shipped...

Woooohoooo... Mine has finally shipped... :D :D :D

Ordered a 1,83GHZ (now a 2,0GHZ )CTO 7200RPM HD on January 11th.

But the tracking info is really confusing. Maybe someone can help me.

Seems to me as I've got two different packages. One of them (the Mighty Mouse and the Apple Keyboard) seem to be in the Netherlands already and for the Macbook Pro there seems to be no information available at the moment ???

Where can I track Flexlogistics packages?
This is too confusing..

But I am really happy nonetheless!! :D

I hate to add fuel to the fire, but mine was picked up in Shanghai Monday. They just left it at my front door a few minutes ago. It cleared customs, shipped to Indianapolis and to here in 48 hours. I'm at work so I haven't unpacked it yet (it's sitting in a box behind me). After lunch I'll open her up.

has there been any news on a potential shipping date for the 1.83ghz models?

i only ask because i've been waiting for 6 weeks already... and i need this computer for school ... and i'm starting to think i should just drop the extra cash a get a 2.0 from my local apple store...

Apple said this week for 1.83's, if you ordered on jan 10th like me then im guessing they might start getting them out to us this friday.. any earlier would be a bonus but im not gonna hold my breath.

Same here, as you can see: http://www.gamekeeper.at/macbook/apple.JPG

Seems like apple is using another carrier in Western Europe to get the MacBook Pro to their customers. Even my PowerMac didn't ship with the "Kühne & Nage Spedition".

But who cares as long it arrives in time ;) (Apple's automatic email service says 7-8 days)

1.83 GHz, coming soon?

My account may have been billed. I had an authorization check in the past but this one might be the real thing. Of course I have no idea when to expect the laptop to be shipped out. Perhaps people with 2.0's can tell of their experience? Thanks.
