not necessarily, it my just be a separate device belonging to the pro category, but we'll know soon enough, if there is no mini 6 in the next couple of months then yes....
Apple has only released one iPad mini the past FIVE years. They aren't releasing two within 6 months of each other. Not to mention 8.7 inch is not the 8.5 rumor everyone suggests. They aren't going to make two iPad mini sizes. They hate the iPad mini.

The dream may well be coming true by the end of the year. according to Korean sources...
PS this is not the mini 6 but a separate mini pro
I’d take that with a truck load of salt.

The Mini already has a small user base. A Mini Pro would have an even smaller one. It wouldn’t make any sense for Apple to introduce such a device.

This also appears to just be some rando on Twitter.

If they truly did "hate" the iPad mini, they would've stopped selling them a long time ago.
One iPad mini release in the past 5 years. Every other iPad model has been updated multiple times since. They may not hate it but they obviously dont care about it.

Well they cared enough for one update.

If that's true, then its unlikely we see a Mini 6 anytime soon which is unfortunate. I dont want a smaller, overpriced mini version of the iPad Pro, I want a mini version of my Air 4 for $399
The Air 4 was a $100 price bump over the Air 3, so I would expect and be willing to pay $499 for a mini Air 4. If Apple needs to maintain a $399 price point I’m afraid it’ll be slightly reduced chin/forehead, same home button and a spec bump at best.

They don't hate it... In an interview some time ago they explained that they believed that people bought the mini just because it was the cheapest iPad. So when they decided, around a year after the mini 4 was released, to make a larger budget iPad that was going to cost as little as the very first mini they thought that nobody would buy the mini anymore, so at the same time as they launched the budget iPad in March 2017, they discontinued all mini 4 models except the 128GB one, which they priced at 399 as the original mini 4 16GB (while the budget iPad had 32GB).
Over time however they realized that people kept buying the old mini 4 despite the budget iPad, so people were interested in the size more than in the budget price.
That's why, when the resuscitated the old Air brand, to fill the gap between the 329 iPad and the 799 11 pro (that had temporarily been somewhat filled until that point by the 10.5 pro, which outlived its 12.9 counterpart) they released a new upgraded mini with the same specs. I think sales have not been bad.
Personally I wouldn't be surprised that they give us a mini pro at $500. I wouldn't see why they would keep it at 399 if they go the air 4 route. But problem is how do you name it to justify the price increase? Why not call it pro and maybe even give it A15 and quad speakers to justify the name and at that point add another $50-$100?

A lot of great ideas here, but the best all focus on a SIMPLIFIED iPad SKUs from a base education model to the top -

iPad - 10.2"

iPad Air 9 (replaces mini)
iPad Air 11

iPad Pro 11
iPad Pro 13

So let it be written, so let it be done...
Some people like simplified SKUs, including Steve Jobs. With all due respect to the amazing person that Jobs was, I prefer today's Apple, which gives us much more choice. And from a financial point of view, this strategy is doing very well...

Any link for that ? In terms of ipads or tablets, not caring much about price, the mini is the the only one making sense to me, especially considering the weight, are there 11" or 12" inch kindles ? No, of course not.

No but Amazon sells 10" tablets and chances are they sell more of those than they do Kindles.

I don't have it, I heard about this interview in a video or podcast, but don't remember which...

I got the mini 5 almost a year after it was released... I love it and use it interchangeably with my Pro 12.9" 2020 which i also got late... (Sept. 2020).

The only way I'm springing for a new mini though, is if they introduce a "Pro" style design like the Air 4. IMHO, its high time Apple changes up the mini design. Lets be honest here, it's been practically the same since the Mini 1.

My reasoning is this, the main reason I gravitate toward using my Pro 12.9" is that its got that super slick design and its top of the line specs. Its a premium product. So a "Pro" mini is what I'm in the market for! A budget mini? I think I'll pass.

If they expected not to make minis after the 4, that would explain why the 5 took so long. Spend 2 years waiting to discontinue, then another 2 to plan the replacement.

In my opinion, it would be awful if the release a new iPad mini this month, and then 6 months later a newer iPad mini pro. If it was true, I guess many people would prefer that pro model, and being released as soon as 6 months later would be even worse that the release of the iPad 4 only 6 months later that the iPad 3 ?

I actually think it would not be a problem for Apple to bring a Mini 6 this month and a Mini Pro in the fall. Especially strategic would be a decision to keep the Mini 6 really cheap. If the Mini Pro comes with new features and a 3rd generation Apple Pencil, it will garner a lot of enthusiasm. I don’t think there will be much overlap in the target markets for the two devices, and I don’t think a Mini Pro would cannibalize Mini 6 sales very much. People will still buy the Mini 6 for their kids and as an e-Reader.

The Air has adopted the new "Pro" design, and so a mini adopting the same design doesn't at all mean it's going to be a mini Pro. This rumor needs to die.

I'm really hoping for a new iPad mini with new form factor.
Not gonna happen, at least not for another 2 years, if ever. Apple apparently likes 4 year iPad mini refresh cycles. Its embarrassing and absurd to be selling an iPad mini with a 2012 design in 2021. They dont care about the iPad mini.
