Finally! I can't believe they didn't cheap out on it. A15, new cameras and all. Buying this instead of the iPhone 13. I'll keep my 12 and wait for the 14. First time in many years I haven't upgraded to the new iPhone.
The correct answer is both.Should I return my iPad Air 4 and get the new mini? Ugh, the thought has crossed my mind but I prefer the larger screen size.
Announced this morning, shipping Sept. 24Riiiight. Just like it was supposed to be announced about 5-6 other dates going back almost 2 years now. Every, single analyst has predicted a new redesigned iPad mini coming In March or Oct the last two years, an they have all been dead wrong. They are clueless. Its vaporware. Apple hates the Mini, we wont be seeing one anytime soon, if ever.
Yep, already ordered...Announced this morning, shipping Sept. 24
I agree on the colors - across the board (save for the Sierra Blue iPhone Pro) Apple really dropped the ball with colors this year. Starlight is way to champagne, and no silver option seems odd.I don't think I want a black one, but none of the other colors appeal to me... I'll probably pick on up once I can see the colors in the store.
On the bright side, not only did they keep touch ID, but it's 293g, down from 300.5g, so 7.5 grams lighter. That'll make it 7.5g nicer for reading with!
Yeah I was surprised they didn't mention it. And it is 0.8 cm shorter, same width, 0.2mm thicker. Very nice indeed.I don't think I want a black one, but none of the other colors appeal to me... I'll probably pick on up once I can see the colors in the store.

Almost certainly stayed about the same width and got taller given the dimension changes (so, yes).Anyone know if the aspect ratio has changed?
Yes, the display is taller but (about 0.5cm) narrower in portrait.Anyone know if the aspect ratio has changed?
I think it will continue to use the 2048x1536 app but letterboxed, unless the app supports dynamic scaling or is updated to add support for the new resolution.Thanks. Hmm I wonder… it used to use 9.7” 4:3 apps shrunken to 7.9”, what apps will it use now? Standard iPad? Air? Not sure which one has an exact matching aspect ratio. Displays have changed so many times, hard to keep track.
Apparently so. I just checked the website and couldn’t find a resolution match with any of the bigger iPads. I guess the mini will finally have its own optimized apps (letterboxed until then). But interestingly it still retains its 326 ppi, the highest of all the iPads, which I thought was only a byproduct of Apple wanting to just use shrunken 9.7” apps. But I guess that nice perk is here to stay.I think it will continue to use the 2048x1536 app but letterboxed, unless the app supports dynamic scaling or is updated to add support for the new resolution.
Actually, given the new resolution is 2266x1488 (the display is marginally narrower in portrait), it won't be able to natively display a full 2048x1536 app - I guess it will have to scale?Apparently so.
