I have never had an iPad before but considering going iPad Pro 12.9 instead of Macbook Air for 'personal' computing needs. Mainly drawn by the Apple Pencil. Given the price bump, I am considering the 128GB Wifi option, because you have to factor in the cost of accessories (keyboard and pencil).

Do you think 128GB will be enough ? Don't want to have to be constantly looking at storage but at the same time not sure what will take space. I tend to keep things for a long time so I could potentially shell a bit extra to be safe. in that case, would you rather go 128 cellular or 256 wifi ?

Cellular is definitely a nice to have rather than necessity but like the idea of not having to mess with my phone to connect over 4G. Similarly, I think I could live with external storage but at the same time, there is the nice aspect of not having to even think about storage... I typically go base model but feel cramped in my phone (64gb) so hence the thinking...

I don't use a lot of storage thanks to streaming and online drives, which are much better than local storage. Also, cellular is not essential with the phone around, but like you said could be nice.

On my Mac it's stupid simple to use my phone's hotspot as there's just a click on the Mac itself. No need to fiddle with the phone at all. But I do need to fiddle the phone for my iPad. I wonder if I'm missing something?

Point is, the Mac absolutely doesn't need cellular, but the iPad still could benefit, do to phone fiddle (if this makes sense).

It does make me chuckle that people talk about the 12.9 like you have to airlift it anywhere you want to take it. It's an inch wider and an inch taller. It's not like the first gen with massive bezels. I'm looking forward to more screen estate, upgrading from my 10.5 iPad Pro.

Who wants the 11" should get it now if they wanted with this price...i bet next year or next gen 11" to get the mini_led and also that 100$ increase in price too
I hope i can get the 12.9" ipad pro in May because i think it will fly from shelfs quickly

11" 128 GB cellular for me (well, my kid). That $200 offer for the cellular iPads is a no-brainer. I'll pay the extra $15/month for a data line until the gift card shows up and then I'll cancel the line. It's always nice to have the cellular option there should you need it later.

Upgrading from the 10.5 iPad Pro as well. Never really considered the 12.9 until this go-round because it’s always felt unwieldy when I’ve held it in store. For me it’s not the physical size, it’s the weight.

I have a khomo hard shell on the back of my 10.5", and according to the scales, that's a combined weight the same as the 12.9 naked. Heavier if I put the Smart Cover on the 10.5.

I find myself rarely holding my iPad without it resting on something; my leg, my lap, on a stand, on a table, on my bed.

I keep going back and forth on the cellular. My 2018 is cellular so I may keep it and just get the 2021 12.9 Wifi

No option to get both 😂 - 12 for the studio, 11 for personal.

side grading from a 2018 12 which I find too big for home, and is best on my desk. My reading in bed has reduced a lot since using the 12 only [before that was the 10.9 pro].

Never really considered purchasing one. But for that new XDR display… I’ll definitely look into buying one. My current one has one nasty micro scratch on it, I won’t make that mistake again.

Just the other day someone posted a Comment that all that Lovely Screen with Mini-led and you want to blemish it with a Screen Protector ! what’s your take on that ?

Although I like small phones, I really like big tablets, so I’m thinking in upgrading from my 9,7” iPad Pro. Still not 100% convinced, probably will wait to see some reviews. In case I go, probably wifi and 256 should be enough.

I currently have the original iPad Pro 12.9" model. I've been waiting to see some substantial improvements to the iPad Pro before I upgraded. This release does that for me with the mini-LED, LiDar, and the M1 processor. I'll be ordering the WiFi 512GB model in silver. I'm just wondering how constrained the availability will be.

I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and have unlimited data.

Would there be any point in me getting the cellular iPad? The data to a WiFi iPad from my iPhone would be as good as a data direct to a cellular iPad wouldn’t it?

If this makes sense?

Sounds like you have already made your mind towards not going for Cellular. A lot of people who have had Cellular iPads in the last have now realised they hardly happen to use the cellular feature on their iPads and are switching to only Wi-Fi this year and for times they needed cellular they can tether their phone !

Yeah, I’m just trying to convince myself! I can’t really see any reason to get the cellular, especially having unlimited data on my iPhone plan. It’s also 5G so there’s that as well...

It sounds like cellular on the iPad would be a nice to have, but yes not required as you can share data service from your phone.

I’d say the one situation whereby it is fully justified is if you are planning to use it for very long sessions. In that case the hotspot feature could start to make a dent on you phone’s battery (especially if using it while on trains/coaches/cars whereby more energy is required to maintain decent data connectivity while moving at a fast speed).

I've pretty much decided to just pony up the extra $300 and get the 12.9". The size is not as unmanageable as I thought it was. I slapped a standard sheet of paper on my original iPad to get an idea of weight and size, and it's still reasonable. If it does end up being too cumbersome, I'll return it and order an 11". I think the 12.9s are going to be in much, much shorter supply.

So, I'm planning to order: iPad Pro 12.9" 256 Wi-Fi Only Silver.

11" Wifi 128, mayyyybe 256. Can't decide if I need a pencil more than the extra space.
Really wish the MLED had come to the 11", but can't justify the 12.9, don't want to pay the $$ for it, and feel it would be too much to carry around.

Anyone tempted to get the 1TB for the extra RAM?

Would this hold its price (relatively) when selling? Just wondering?
