Caudabe & Clear case review and also looking for advice....
I'm looking something I’m afraid doesn’t really exist for my navy blue iPhone 12. I want a thin, transparent clear case with decent protection. I want to show off the navy blue but I also drop my phone on the sidewalk on occasion. It’s important to me to have a decent lip protecting screen & camera.I like to put my phone face down and I‘m a believer in lips protecting the screen on falls. In all my years of iPhone ownership, I’ve never cracked a screen from a drop.
For my iPhone 11 & XR, I went with a Caudabe Synthesis and really loved it. I ordered it in navy & grey for the 12. Unfortunately, navy appeared somewhat translucent on the website but IRL, it turned out to be practically solid. Grey is better, it is more transparent but not enough to completely satisfy me. Synthesis continues to be a great case however and I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for good protection in a thinner package. It’s not super thin but it’s a good trade off to me.
From here, went the fully clear case route.
I also ordered the Caudabe Lucid Clear but I think it provides a little less screen lip than I hoped for. Also, it feels a little slippery. On the fence with this one because of these two issues. But otherwise, a pretty solid option.
On Amazon, I ordered Spigen Ultra Hybrid, Ringke Fusion, & Smartish Kung Fu Grip.
As others have posted, Kung Fu Grip suffers from button issues. They are extremely hard to push. I gave up right away on it but, awaiting a response from the company to see if it’s a problem they are aware of and fixing.
Spigen & Ringke are practically identical, as I expected. The buttons on Spigen have a little more of a unique styling rather than just mimicking the iPhone buttons. I think it makes them a bit easier to use but Ringke is perfectly fine. I've been using the Spigen all weekend and like it so far. i was all set to keep it when I took a look at my wife’s iPhone 11 version and how yellow it is after a year (and has been for some time as she reminded me). I assume Ringke will be similar in its discoloration.
So, is there a translucent clear case that I am overlooking that will be somewhat thin yet protective and not turn yellow?
