That good traditional leather smell is typically indicative of a vegetable tanned leather rather than a modern chemical tanned leather. A vegetable tan is typically of a higher quality and is way better for the environment and your health.

So apple is killing us with its leather?

I got the gray one. I think it combines nicely with the iPhone's pacific blue.

As you see the surface is really a bit rugged which makes for a very nice and steady grip.

Nice case.

How much does the lip of the case rise above your screen protector ? Just wondering how much of a gap of space you get when you lay it face down. It's hard to find alot of front sheath pics from people with screen protectors.

Also what brand of screen protector do you have and do you know the thickness measurement of it ?

and how snug/tight does the sheath fit ?

My two are fine. What specifically is the problem?
When holding the phone with one hand, with a lot of people the pinkie sits right below the cutout for the charging port. If this cutout is too "sharp" it hurts the pinkie. The ESR case had a very smooth edge, so no problem there, it passed the pinkie test. The apple case does not.

In my case, I tried to soften it up a bit by "massaging" the corner a bit with a smooth piece of metal. Not perfect yet, but better...

Just don’t spend too much time sniffing it. ;)

I use a leather conditioner from Griots garage that smells like leather. Just a drop or two on the case and now it smells like real leather.

I’ll also add that after a couple days with the case, I have to say that Apple hit a home run with their leather cases. I really like the feel and grip of the case.

So, you’re saying that the only reason your case smells like leather is because you’re using a leather scented conditioner? So apple isn’t using a vegetable tanned leather and may be using some sort of synthetic or chrome tanned leather? 😁I’m just throwing fuel on the fire.

Just doing some of the cases comparison. Apple and knock off.

where did you get the knock off?

I don't know exactly. Around 1mm I'd say.

I got the Belkin UltraGlass, the one sold by Apple. 0.29mm according to the Apple product page. A bit too thick if you ask me, but still way less than the case lip.

and how snug/tight does the sheath fit ?
Tight enough, I'd say. It doesn't come off easily. I'd say less easy than the Apple leather case.

Does anyone have any pics of the Sea Green caudabe sheath? Looks a little too bright in their product pics so I'm hoping its a bit more dull in real life.

Thanks for the info.

How good is the feel/ease of use/responsive click of the buttons on the case ? Great/good/just okay ?

Just got my black Sheath delivered and slapped it on my 12 Pro. Man the handling of this case is top notch. Now I see why you all love it. Has just the right amount of everything.
Do the sides come up above the screen? I am looking for a case that I don’t drag my finger across when I am swiping up. TIA

Scratch that. Hated the feel of the apple saddle brown. Will be getting returned this weekend and now I’m back in old nasty aka the Nomad.

Gee that's taken a battering already lol, shame you were a big SB fan.
Have the nomads buttons loosened up bit?
I have a black apple coming Monday but doubt i will be keeping it, 4 days for a case 6 hours drive away.

Is it comfortable as a daily carry?
tbh it's too wide for my liking, especially having used the apple silicone cases for the first few days before getting the rhinoshield, AND its very slippery. not much grip. if you have longer fingers then the wideness wouldnt be a problem. I wanted to really like these as ive rocked these for previous iphones but i guess i gotta find a new daily. just updated my original post to say it also left a bunchhhhh of scratches on the sides of my phone. ugh.

Any grey caudabe sheath owners out there?
Got my Sheath.

It's the first time I have had one since my iPhone 7 and I don't like it. It's so grainy compared to how they used to be, almost borderline rough? The sides don't find snug on the phone either; the Apple leather case fit a lot better. £28.00 for these cases used to be well worth it, not anymore IMO.

Also it's quite a bit chunkier than the leather case.

So it's going back.

I’m back in my Evo Check. Had repurchased the leather, but within a day is isn’t holding up. Back showing odd marks/stains. Must have really oily hands.

Plus, the evo check is far more solid and not entirely that much bigger.

Thanks for the insight, I think the same thing. They seemed to have evolved the cases quite a bit?
