Looking at the Rhinoshield Solidsuit on Amazon for only $23.99 plus an additional 10% off. I can't seem to get a clear answer - is it grippy or slippery? Seems like there is a few varied opinions. I have the Otterbox Symmetry Clear and Tech21 Evocheck but the smoke back annoys on the tech21 as I cannot show off my red phone that much. That said, the idea of a white Solidsuit with red buttons is incredibly attractive - as is the price point. So what is the verdict, slippery or no?

I wondered looking at that case back, do the corners touch when it's lying on its back?

It looked to me like maybe the raised center-section could be higher than the corners but it could be an optical illusion.
The raised center section is the same height as the corners. The case sits perfectly flat.

Yea, mine is not sagging and I've been using it a couple of days already. The bottom rubber is so flimsy that it might start sagging sooner or later though. The only other con is it does show fingerprints on the back.

I thought the same thing about the sagging. I might send mine back just for this.

The Rhinoshield cases always feel very wide. The grip is better than last year but the width make it feel worse in the hand than my Symmetry

Oh wow, is it really that much wider than the Symmetry? Is this the clear Symmetry?

I'm not sure how you hold your phone, but I hold mine so the cutout for the charger is resting on my pinky finger. That means I have to make sure the cases I purchase are "soft" around that area or the tip of my pinky starts to turn purple. Someone on here mentioned that the Apple leather case hurts their pinky. Do you have any issues on yours?

Also, for those that have the Caudabe Sheath and have used the Sheath in the past, do you notice any difference in button feedback compared to previous models? Some of the reviews I've read/seen mention that the buttons could use more feedback.

The buttons on the apple leather are better than the sheath they are hard to beat, i have both, no problem with pinky on mine, but i don't hold it for hours though.

Regular Symmetry. It just feels wider to me. Overall the Symmetry may be thicker. It just feels better in the hand
That’s interesting, one of the things I like about the SolidSuit is that it’s less wide than my Otterbox Aneu. It doesn’t seem wide to me at all, but I always use cases made for good drop protection, so I might just be used to wide cases.

The Solidsuit is a bit slippery, but nothing you can’t adjust to. As for the width, I had the Evocheck for a bit and it and the Solidsuit are about the same in width, so if you’re ok with it you should be fine with the Rhinoshield. The bumper part of the Solidsuit isn’t as grippy as the Evocheck, though.

That's good to know. Doesn't look that wide but I am happy to stick with the Otterbox Symmetry in its place. I don't have any issue with it, it's definitely a little slippery when my hands are not dry but it's still a case I have confidence in. My XR took some bumps and kept on ticking!

Found me a battery pack on sail at Walmart today and USPS delivered my Amazon special case. Reminds me a lot of one of the Caudabe or PEEL cases. It’s super thin.

Picked up one of these battery packs that Blaine showed yesterday and it's a fantastic little pack for only $5.55

Thanks, blaine07

Has a USB-C and USB-A port, digital readout and is well constructed. I'm going to pick up a couple more the next time I'm at Wally World. Can never have enough battery packs. Fantastic deal at only $5.55 each.

cases suck this year

I couldn’t agree more with this. I don’t understand what’s apparently so hard for case makers with the new (old) design. I don’t recall them having this much trouble when the iPhone 4 came out.

I’ve tried a ton of cases so far and returned most of them. I’m expecting a year ban from Best Buy on returns because I’ve returned too many cases, LOL.

The best I’ve tried so far:

Spigen Thin Fit - Awesome fit. Good lip around the screen. Buttons are great. Doesn’t hurt my pinky in the hold test. Only downside is it shows oil from your fingers, but it cleans off easily.

Spigen Thin Fit Designed for iPhone 12 Pro Max Case (2020) - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BGCD8CW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_vizXFbD5YVRWH

Ringke Onyx - Some have complained the top and bottom show the frame of the phone, and that bugged me at first too, but then I realized that’s how it’s supposed to be (I think). Best buttons I’ve used so far. Love the top and bottom having a raised bezel while the sides are lower allowing for easy swiping. That’s one of my favorite things about the DBrand Grip I’ve used on other phones, so I like it on Ringke’s cases too.

Ringke Onyx Case Compatible with iPhone 12 Pro Max, Tough Rugged Durable Shockproof TPU 3D Design Back Phone Cover for 6.7-inch (2020) - Dark Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K1RKQ27/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_3hzXFb501B4N9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Speck Presidio2 Grip - I know a lot of people here don’t like the change from rubber grips on the back to plastic, but I’m fine with it. I tried the black one, but I returned it and ordered the royal blue/black one from their website the other day (I’m trying to get away from all my cases being black and it’ll be here tomorrow). Buttons are amazing and of course it’s protective.

Apple Silicone - It took me a little bit to really like it and I still with the buttons were separate like the Apple leather cases, but it’s just so soft in the hand. Yes, it can pick up lint and hair, but it cleans easily and I like that you can see the frame around the entire front. Also, I’ve never had the issue of a corner popping out of either it or the leather case, so I’ve been lucky there.

Nillkin Frosted Shield - I’ve always liked Nillkin cases for their slim fit, but this one’s on another level. It covers all 4 sides of the phone unlike their previous slim cases and the grip is fantastic. Buttons are super clicky and it has a decent lip around the screen (even with a screen protector). I hope they make more colors other than black eventually.

Some that I’ve tried and returned:

Nomad Rugged in black - Loved the case, but for the price I didn’t like that it gapped and showed the frame at the top where it shouldn’t have. Buttons were mushy.

Tech21 Evo Check - I actually really liked this case, and I like that they did the grippy texture around the bumper, but I still don’t like the “X” pattern on the back. If they’d remove that and just make it either clear or smoked without the X’s, I’d get it again.

Ringke Fusion Matte - I love the fit of this case, as with most Ringke cases, but while I like the frosted back, the bumper doesn’t have the micro dots on the inside, so you get the watermarking from the shiny frame of the phone. I had to return it for that reason.

Caudabe Sheath in black - Not returned because I didn’t have to, but I got one of the bad batch that didn’t fit well. Waiting for them to send me the updated case.

I still have a few cases coming. The aforementioned Speck Presidio2 Grip in blue/black, the green and blue Tech21 Evo Slim, an electric blue Caudabe Sheath (that I’m hoping is the updated version), and Zagg Wembley Pallete in smoke. We’ll see if those work out.

It took me a year to find the perfect case i like for my 11 pro, then sold it with the phone lol. Now they don't make the same with a matte carbon back only glossy ;)

Oh, maybe I didn’t word that well. I didn’t like the buttons. They weren’t really stiff for me but they were just so mushy and didn’t give any feedback. I feel like most Nomad cases I’ve had recently have been like that. They just can’t seem to get that part figured out.

It was stiff at first, but it softened as leather does with use. I have that problem with other cases as well. I just reposition by pinkie for a bit then I’m fine. I also have the Sheath and hate the textured back and buttons being hard to push so am returning it.

does the speck one feel good around the phone? i bought the spend presido2 grip for the 11 PM when it came out and it felt really loose on the phone, like if i squeezed the sides too hard the phone would fall out.

and can you take pics with the ringke onyx? would like to see how the frame pops out lol

Have ordered the CarbonThat Kevlar, hopefully get it Friday. Selling the black apple leather, too sticky for this climate.

The Speck fit is great. Nice and snug. The phone definitely isn’t popping out if you have a drop. As far as the in the hand feel, that’s subjective. I like the way the newer Speck Grip cases feel, but I realize everyone isn’t a fan.

And here’s some pics of the Onyx. It’s hard to tell, but the top and bottom show almost exactly the same amount of the frame, so that makes me think it’s intentional. Either way, the case fits well and isn’t in danger of coming off. I love everything else about it.
