Which case will you be getting for your new XS/XS Max? [MERGED]

I love the silicone cases, and in my use they have been fine. Dropped my phone without issues, no issues with premature wear. This was on an 8 Plus

However my wife had a different experience. Her 8 plus case started chipping on the edges after a few months. And then just last month her phone fell out of her purse in a parking lot, hit the open bottom part and shattered the screen. Kinda sucked. Luckily we had Apple care.

I still love the silicone cases though and for the most part they protect fine. But if they hit that open bottom wrong like my wife's drop did it can be an issue.

Well I ordered a Navy Blue Sheath for my XS. In the Order Instructions, I explicitly stated that I wanted one of the new Sheaths with the speaker cut outs for the XS, not the case for the older X. Today I opened my order and they sent me the older X version. WTF?

I can take pictures of the case if you want, but the case wont be on the phone. I am returning the case and I don't want Caudabe to tell me I can't return it "because it has been used".

I had hoped to use the case on my upcoming trip (my usual case has no drop protection). I guess I'll pick up something at best buy instead.

Buyer Beware with Caudabe. They are still shipping X cases for the XS, even if you specifically ask for the proper case.

I would write them an email.

As far as I know, they don’t have the new ones with the new cutout yet. They are still a week or more away from being available.

If my experience is representative then they will say u just keep the one u have and they will send u a new one when available.

This was also my experience with my XS Max case. Their customer support has been very nice and I will continue to buy their products in the future with that being a factor.

I had the navy blue Sheath back when I had my X. It was a nice color but I ended up liking the black better.

Hoot you have me concerned with the SCF... haha. I hopefully will have mine on Friday. If I don’t like this case..... ugh dunno what I would do. Keep with the Sheath until that K11 comes thru I guess. Do you remember how the UAG feels, and if this feels more bulky than that by comparison? I might go back in that direction also. Sigh.... the struggle.

I'm back in the Pathfinder tonight. The SCF is on par with the UAG Pathfinder in terms of size. The SCF is not that bad but I should have ordered the regular version instead of the armor.

I have one for my max and my x. Just bought them a couple weeks ago. I enjoy the thinner case and the magnetic back is nice for the car. Feels like decent protection for as light weight as it is. I don't like bulk, phone is big enough as it is!

Sending back the Veil XT just because I know my phone would’ve been RIP if I had taken off the sheath.

For that reason I’m taking off the sheath and rolling with apple leather tomorrow. IDFK.

I emailed Caudabe about send the wrong Sheath before I made my post. We'll see if I get a response before I leave on my trip tomorrow evening. Otherwise I'll just get something at BestBuy and send the Sheath back to Caudabe when I get back from my trip.

I'll take a couple pictures of the Blue Sheath in the morning when there is some natural lighting. It's the best chance of showing the color accurately.

Sheath, the bottom is covered.

Haha we could have swapped. I have the regular version here that I’m about to send back to them. But my Armor is coming. I liked the regular version but I wondered about how protected it would be if I dropped it. The sides almost felt thinner than the Sheath if I remember right; I’d have to check since the case is sitting in my car.

I forget - are these cases compatible with wireless charging? I still haven’t seen this case in person. None of my local Targets have any.

To answer your questions:

1. It’s pretty durable and I don’t think it would peel or detoriate but I do notice with my black one it discolors with just regular holding

2. The camera has a good lip around it, won’t touch the table when it lays flat.

3. Best grip out there I think!

Thank you guys, you’ve been more than exhaustive.
What scaries me the most is the open bottom, despite having the screen protector on and the equivalent of the Apple care+ (with my carrier).

The steel frame should resist any minor falls right?

My experience as well. iPhone Xs. They told me to contact them early next week, when they anticipate to have the new batch of Xs cases with the correct cutout at the bottom, and they will send a replacement for free. They did not ask me to send the old one back.
