Ok guys. First things first.
I wanna thank you for letting me know the Speck brand.

Now, I just picked up my first Speck Presidio Pro ever.
I must say that I could not be more surprised, in a good way.
The case is very resistant, compared to the Spigen Neo Hybrid (which still offers some protection) I’d say it’s really tough: on the packaging they declare "designed for impact, 3 meters drop tested".
The keys respond very well, especially the volume ones.
The cutouts for mute switch, speakers and lightning port are precise.

The raised besels for back camera and screen protection are really great.

The case itself is not so bulky, on the contrary it is held well in my hands and allows a firm grip on the phone.
It fits comfortably in my hand.
The coating is soft to the touch, similar to silicone but less soft. Very pleasant.

In conclusion, the first impressions are definitely positive!

Just got the Nomad Carbon case. Seems to be a pretty solid case considering how thin it is. That and also the company guarantees drop protection of up to 6ft. Allegedly. It's a two part case. Bumper + actual case. The TPU bumper itself is a little flimsy once its on the case. I was expecting a tighter fit, but once you put the case on its pretty solid. The case is a little slippery in the hand, but has some texture to it. Its like a matte/glossy texture. Hard to explain. The darker line on the back of the case to the right is 100% matte. Wish the whole case had this kind of texture. Another important thing to note, the buttons aren't very tactile which is a bit of a letdown. More so the power button for some reason. The volume buttons not so much.

I also just received the Nomad Carbon for the Xs Max and it is one of the worst cases I've ever held. It feels extremely cheap because the TPU bumper is just so loose due to two separate part design(which was never advertised as so on their site). There is so much play with the TPU, that it takes no effort for it to peel back to reveal the phone. Even the fit of the Carbon back and TPU bumper isn't very good. The gaps between them are visible and sometimes open with the phone. The website photos make it look very clean and practically seem-less. Just sliding it into a pocket will move that TPU on the bottom, the power buttons, or volume buttons...the softness of TPU is like that of cheap jelly silicone cases you would find from a street vendor. Plenty of dirt and dust in your pockets will enter there. The Carbon back is also not very impressive...sure it's light and it definitely is rigid due to the carbon, but it feels like the same plastic you would find on plastic silverware. I've never been so disappointed by a case...especially from a company that I know makes really good stuff. The Nomad leather cases are legit, I've seen and tried them out at Bestbuy. This Carbon Case is horrible, they need to go back to the drawing board for this one. Return started.

Damn, that’s a shame to hear... I hope you can return it! Aa you said, their leather cases are very nice, but I guess they messed up with this case. I was really excited to see the Carbon Case and was considering it. Are you getting the leather Rugged case instead?

Admit it, you took it off to swap cases, bored of the symmetry already
[doublepost=1539135646][/doublepost]Slowly warming up to the Rhinoshield CG. Go Steelers.
hey may I please have the link of the case that you had in this picture please
[doublepost=1539412887][/doublepost]Saw this photo in this thread, but unable to find the name or link where this can be purchased. Can some one please let me know those details for this case . Thanks in advance.

I was considering the leather rugged, but it's not available until November 1st, and I am leaving for a long trip in 1 week. I only ordered the Carbon case on whim when I saw it was available to ship on Wednesday instead of the Oct 20th date they had for awhile. Plus with Evutec not releasing an Aer, I thought the Nomad Carbon would be similar, a solid TPU bumper attached to a rigid Carbon/Aramid backing. Instead, they **** bed with a design that I believe is not very pleasing or satisfying to hold. I can see how having the two pieces separate during a drop might dissipate some of the energy to the hard plate so it takes the most of the fall and comes apart. However, I'm holding the phone more than dropping it, and it feels pretty bad holding it.

Usually, I get a Caudabe Sheath and call it half a year until I get another case out of boredom. As much as I love the Caudabe Sheath after having one on each the X and the 7 Plus, its pliability suffers from the thinness in different temperature settings. Grip the Sheath on the phone in cool weather and it is solid, grip it in warmer climates and the case softens showing signs of stretching and bulging out. Cases that are loose really bother me. It's a double edge sword, thin and light but more susceptible to stretching because of the thinness. The X Sheath was a major improvement over the 7 Plus version, Caudabe thickened the TPU around the lip and more importantly gave it more texture to improve the grip. They also added even more TPU than before to the charge port area to firm that weak point up even more. Caudabe deserves credit for good functional design there.

It's funny, so far the only case I've found to be really great is the Caseology Vault that I bought for $1.60. I figured it would be my temporary day 1 case before I found the long term one. There are obvious design influences from the Sheath and the Silk Base Grip. It's about 1mm thicker than the Sheath and has the grip of the Silk Base Grip, if not more. With that said, it doesn't bow open easily when trying to pull the two side lips apart(that's a Flossy Carter test) because of that 1mm thicker TPU, the grip from the texture is more fine than the Base Grip, but not as fine as the Caudabe Sheath, so it's a good middle ground that seems to provide more grip than either of those cases. The buttons give good feedback, but lack the details of any symbols like you would find on the Sheath(another excellent detail from Caudabe). My only complaint is Caseology's aesthetic design cues taken from last years Sheath with regard to the camera cutout area.

I just received mine today and your feedback is 100% spot-on. I would agree with everything that you've said, right down to the feedback on the buttons. Really wish it had the matte finish on the entire case. Also, based on the pictures of the site, I wasn't expecting it to be a two-part case.

To the other person who asked about the quality - I do feel that is is good quality, like other Nomad cases. It does not feel like cheap plastic to me at all.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

Can one of you guys please post pics of the phone inside the carbon case?

Pay attention to the lightning port area in the first photo and the volume button area in the second photo. Also look at the lines where the TPU and Carbon back meet, they are far from seemless as they appear on the Nomad site.

Ordered the pitaka mag pro for my max from amazon. Should have it tomorrow. Interested in what changed from the version I had for the x.

I don't seem to have these issues. The first time I installed the case, it was a bit funky. But the second time I installed it, it was fine? Yea theres a tiny bit of space where the volume button is, but nowhere near as gapped as yours. Everything else is pretty tight fitted once I out the carbon case on. I wish I could take pictures, but I don't have another device to take pictures of the phone inside the case.

I would return your Carbon case and try to order a Rugged case in the future. The Rugged is the best case I have owned an have been using it as my daily case for months. The fit is amazing, as is the quality. Note that I use the old thicker version, but I am thinking about buying the new thinner one. However, the old one offers 10ft drop protection and the new one ‘just’ 6ft.

It’s a Rhinoshield Crashguard bumper.
