Sheath is starting to grow on me in spite of the defect on the bottom of the case. i haven't heard back from Caudabe as to when the new batch will come in, but hopefully it won't be too long. if they dont expect it back, i may smooth the defect out using sandpaper.

I used the smaller file, any one of these types would work. Although you can barely still see the edge I don’t feel it and it’s very smooth feeling now.

thanks! i don't want to file/sand away until i confirm they don't want me to return the first Sheath as i don't want to permanently alter it if they expect it returned.

My last Caudabe case was the Sheath for an iPhone 7+. I thought the fit and finish were amazing for such a minimalist case.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I recieved the Synthesis for my XS. It’s not a bad case at all, but it just didn’t wow me like the Sheath for my 7+.

One minor detail that kind of bothers me is the symmetrical speaker cutouts that don’t match the asymmetrical speaker design of the phone. I know the reason why the case went to early production like that, but it makes me feel like I’m using an old iPhone X case.

The back of the case appears to be flush with the camera bump. There are small bumps on the 4 corners of the rear of the case that keep the camera raised off of flat surfaces.

The case material is moderately flexible, so if you pull at the edges there is some give. Doesn’t bother me, but I can see it bugging someone who really cares.

I don’t have a caliper to measure the case. In hand it feels comparable to the Apple silicone case.

I was thinking of returning the case and emailed Caudabe with my complaint about the speaker cutout. They didn’t reply back, so I’ll probably just keep it.

Like I said... not a bad case, but nothing too special either.

thanks for your helpful comments. i'm sorry Caudabe hasn't gotten back to you. that's pretty lame. it sounds like they aren't as responsive as they have been to other in the past. maybe staff cutbacks? if i were you, i'd persist and try again.

for the Sheath, they acknowledged they were making another batch with the asymmetric speaker cutouts.

beyond the speaker cutout and defective bottom case which will hopefully be resolved when they send me another one, i'm starting to grow fond of the Sheath. i love the grip and thin profile in all 3 dimensions and it does seem like it will offer some protection (relative to other minimal cases). yet, as i've posted earlier, i'm now concerned about how much screen protection i have since i went with a thicker screen protector than i previously had. the Synthesis would presumably buy me a little more protection in that way.

yet, on the flip side, i'm contemplating getting the Otterbox Symmetry as my "beefed up" case. i handled a friends Statement and liked the button feel and it definitely felt like good protection without being overly bulky, yet was grippy enough.

I've been a user of the Tech21 Tactical for many years. They stopped making it, I stopped giving them my money. On a recommendation here, I picked up the Speck Presidio Grip. 2 weeks, the grip lines started coming off. Highly disappointed in the quality of that. I took a chance on the Mous Limitless 2.0 for the XS Max. I grabbed the Carbon Fiber version. I LOVE this case. My one and only complaint, it's a bit slick laying it down screen up on a smooth surface. It can be bumped and slide easily. Other than that, I'm shocked at how much I love this. Used a 20% off code and it shipped from Nous and arrived in 3 days. Very happy, and highly recommend the Mous Limitless 2.0, at least for the XS Max!

That is the Mobilereviews-eh ’s fav case. I don’t care for the looks but never seen one in person. He loves it.

Been in apple leather all day. Can’t wait to get home and put my solid suit on. The leather case is nice but for some reason I’m missing that solid suit. Not sure why. Probably those glorious buttons lol.

Got my refund for my pitakia and Sheath today. Down to 4 cases. Returning at least one more tomorrow. So will be down to 3.

Anyone tried the Speck Presidio Pro?

Yep I liked it a lot but returned because of the flash on the rubber parts of the case and it being extremely hard to get on and off. Also a bit bulky. Great feel and buttons though.

I’m going to try a Solid Suit. Matte black or leather? Which one have you got?
