I know which one I will not be buying, and that is the 12 Pro Max 6.7". The pricing and features are just too much for what I use my phone for on a daily basis.

When I heard about the 5.4 size, I said great. I'd probably put my phone down more often with a smaller form factor, especially since I just got a 2020 iPad Pro 11".

Then of course, the rumor of the 12 Pro 6.1" and Pro Max 6.7" models only coming with "true" 5G mmWave, got me thinking will maybe, just maybe I'd go for the Pro 6.1". Yet again, I don't need all those features, and if I need to take a phone with LiDDar and any of those other features, I have the iPad Pro. I don't take that many photos anyway and only do basic editing if/when I do. Also, how many of the carriers will be ready to turn on all of the 5G services.

Bascially, it is back to just wait and see what is really offered come September/October, and the initial reviews of how the devices function.

After this reply, I'm almost 100% back to the 5.4" size.

6.1 Pro I’m leaning towards now.

The XR screen size really does seem the sweet spot for my hands. My Max can sometimes be a bit tricky one handed so going up to a 6.7” screen doesn’t seem sensible

5.4 or 6.1 pro. I buy based on how much of an improvement the screen is. If the pro is so much better, I’ll deal with the larger size.

I’m starting to think the 12 and 12 plus will only have 1080p oled screens and bezels the size of the current pros so that the 12 pro models are worth the extra cash.

Without 120hz on the pro models I don’t see why you’d pay more for just a telephoto lens otherwise.

I’ll be more than happy with a 1080p screen in all honesty. The Pro could have 8K screens and I wouldn’t pay the £1099 that Pro is rumoured to start at. I’m glad I stopped caring about having the best iPhone available the way things have gone.

If the cameras/sensors/lenses on the two Pro models are exactly the same, I'll be tempted to get the 6.1 inch. I think my 6.5 11 Pro Max is a bit too big sometimes. If the Max is superior in any way, I will get the Max for sure.

Now I’m undecided if I’ll get the 256GB 12 Pro Max or 512GB? I have the 256GB XS Max and only used 64.7GB so it’ll probably be smart of me to get the 256GB variant. The only reason why I thought of 512GB was because of how expensive it is more people would probably opt for the cheaper storage sizes.

I don’t know what it’s like in America but I doubt the Pro’s will suffer with supply issues as they are generally less popular. If anything I would imagine it’ll be the smallest storage tiers that are more in demand so the 256GB should be fine. Not sure why you’d consider buying a phone with storage you’ll struggle to fill and not simply get the one that suits your needs? Buying it because it’s more expensive and less people will get it? I don’t get that at all.

I will only get the 512GB if the dates slip later for the 256GB. In the US certain colors and storage sizes have dates for shipping that start to slip later in the month when it’s launched, so I usually get the higher storage sizes. A lot of people don’t want to pay the more expensive price so sometimes it’s easier to get. Also I’ll be keeping this device for 2-3 years, so I need to make sure I have enough space.

Oh fair enough if you are using the space, I just assumed you didn’t need it considering you’ve used so little on your current phone as you claimed. I interpreted it that you were just getting the larger one just to get it first but now realise you’re not.

I usually upgrade yearly so storage size isn’t a huge issue, but since I’m paying outright for the first time, I’ll be holding onto that device for 2-3 years.

I have the 11 Pro Max, so I won’t be upgrading but if I was I’d be going with the 12 Pro Max!

Unless there is an unforeseen, dramatic gap in features between the Pro and non-Pro models (e.g. no OLED), I will most likely go for the iPhone 12 (5.4") this year :)
