Unless there is an unforeseen, dramatic gap in features between the Pro and non-Pro models (e.g. no OLED), I will most likely go for the iPhone 12 (5.4") this year :)

I really think the 5.4” iPhone 12 will be the must have iPhone this year. I’m starting to hear people mention it who aren’t even avid tech fans too.

That’s because it’s going to be the cheapest ever iPhone with Face ID.

If the 6.1” iPhone was the entry level at the price of the 5.4”, then it’d have the frenzy surrounding it.

No, it’s because the size is much smaller pure and simple. We don’t know how much any of these phones are going to cost yet and the people I know aren’t short of money but are excited by a smaller form factor phone after years of owning bigger devices.

I totally disagree with your assumption it’s purely down to cost and this whole forum debunks your theory. We’ve got so many threads and posts of people purely interested in having a smaller phone.

Apple would even sell more iPhone if the had a 5.4” Pro model! I am on the fence since the 5.4” iPhone 12 only has 4GB of RAM, uses a cheaper OLED screen and is missing the 3rd camera.

Apple’s unveiled it already? Did I miss the keynote? 😜

Would they be the iPhone XR threads, seeing as that was an example of what I’m referring to - the newest, cheapest iPhone at the time, which sold more than the higher priced models, each of which was smaller & larger than it.

A 6.1” XR sold more than the 5.8” XS because it was affordable to a mass audience who wanted an iPhone with the latest tech.

The 5.4” iPhone 12 looks as if it’ll be the new XR. Nothing wrong with that, & I’m not saying anything demeaning here. Just that a lower priced, modern iPhone is the main selling card, not the screen size.

I’m not debating that price plays no part because it does. I personally have no interest in buying a Pro iPhone and that is purely down to cost. I could afford to but deem them to not be worth the cost. The difference between models has also been minimal the last few years.

My point was that the 5.4” is getting a lot of attention right now due to its size appeal. The cost is unknown but there are many people here and elsewhere excited by a smaller form factor. There’s even posters here with Pro devices now claiming they’ll be getting it. Price will help its sales but size is also a massive draw.

I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro and nothing will stop me from getting the 5.4” iPhone 12.

Heck, I’ll pay $1500 for it...the cost doesn’t matter at all. I’ve been waiting years for a smaller, lighter iPhone that’s this exact size. Slightly larger than the old SE and slightly smaller than the new SE...it’s perfect.

Take my money, Apple.

My wife's iphone 7 is probably going to be replaced either with the 5.4" 12 or an 11pro. Prices in Europe will be more or less the same after one or two months the 12 was released, the older "top" models are usually a steal on ebay as new&sealed devices from that point on.

Both iPhone 12 5.4" and 12 Max 6.1" fill the "mass audience" price slot though. I don't think anyone wanting a bigger phone will quibble over the extra $100 that Apple usually charges for a bigger display.

What's attractive about the iPhone 12 5.4" is that it's both a smaller iPhone and relatively affordable unlike the $1000 5.8" XS and 11 Pro.

Think it's at least the three of $$$, FaceID and size and maybe even OLED

Don't forget the new body style.
I think the average Joe doesn’t put as much emphasis on the chassis design & that it’s more a thing for enthusiasts, especially those who have followed the iPhones since the 4.

A lot of what gets posted here isn’t reflective of the typical iPhone user remember.

The main thing people want (& a lot of these are in the younger demographic) is an iPhone at as close to affordable price as possible.

I admit that I return to this post from time to time to review the results, as they are really interesting, more important the results of the non pro 6.1.. It seems that it will be the worst selling iPhone ever!

I've never understood this "expensive low cost" line on Apple products... If you can afford to buy a 750 dollar phone you would probably afford expending 150 more. This is clearly visible on this poll, as having the same form factor people prefer the Pro one. If you can afford 750 but not 900, then there is something wrong...

An affordable iPhone, sure, but aesthetics matter as well. Reckon folks are less likely to upgrade if the new device look just like their old one. I've seen that with non-techie co-workers buying the newly introduced iPhone colors.

Part of the reason the XR sold well. Back then, it featured the new design (the front, anyway) at a relatively affordable price point.

It's more like $750 vs $1K though so $250 more. $1K is a psychological barrier. Besides, buying for families, that $750 vs $1K translates to $3K vs $4K for a household of 4.

Mind, 64GB is too little storage for me so at current pricing tiers, it's really more like $1150 ($1270 after tax) for the 256GB Pro and $750 ($830 after tax) for the 128GB non-Pro.

Personally, I've got plenty of other things I'd rather spend that $400+ difference on.

I’m sorry but I will never own a phone as small as a 5’4 inches. I’m going premium or break. Top two premium iPhones. Also very interested to see which models support which 5g bands!!!

Whichever one is the Xr size and model equivalent with 128 gigs of storage. My X model is the 256 gig one and I have 202 gigs available.

Sorry, I didn't know that "buying for families" program existed, neither that all members of one household have to have an iPhone! 🤨
In any case, I still think the same, if you have 3K for expending in iPhones but not 4k, then you cannot afford expending 3k.
