I have waited a long time for this upgrade. But I also have had no complaints on my current iPhone 6. With a battery replacement, it runs great. But there are certain necessary apps I can't download due to its age. So this upgrade will be welcome and most likely, lots of fun. Can't wait for the 6.1".

The more I read about the iPhone 12 rumors, I'm temped to buy an iPhone 11 after the $100 price drop Tuesday, It's rumored to have better battery life than the Mini and 5G LTE isn't that important to me. Also, I don't care if the screen is LCD or OLED. It will be $200 cheaper than an iPhone 12 ($599 vs $799) and the differences aren't going to affect how I use the phone. In any case, I won't be in a hurry to make a decision.

I can’t believe how many are saying they’re going with a smaller model. I had an iPhone 5s for years and years and once I got the iPhone 11XR I was mindblown for 2 weeks by how small my 5s was and how horrible it was to use and how much better a bigger phone is for typing, interacting with, watching things with, playing games, etc.

I always get the biggest iPhone. We go to Europe at least twice a year and I quit taking an IPhone and iPad when traveling when the iPhone screens got big. So glad to leave the heavy iPad Pro at home and one less thing to charge at night with often limited plugs in Europe.

The best thing about new iPhone releases is that you can get the "older" models for cheaper, and they will perform 95% as good as the new ones.
That's not technically true. New A-chips all have a double figure improvement over the previous year's one. For instance, the A14 shows a remarkable 40% computing power increase yoy, and that's only on the CPU side, since it seems that the GPU is even better.

I thought the 40% mark was compared to A12, not A13 (YoY).

Wrong. This +40% figure is A12 vs A14

I am reading on Apple's website that the A13 is 20% faster than the A12 (since each of its cores are described as "up to" 20% faster let's assume the max, and number of cores did stay unchanged).

So, for CPU...
A12 = 1.0 (baseline)
A13 = 1.2 (20% faster than A12)
A14 = 1.4 (40% faster than A12)

A14 by this logic would be (1.4/1.2) -> 16.67% faster than the A13 which preceded it.

For graphics / GPU...
A12 = 1.0 (baseline)
A13 = 1.2 (20% faster than A12)
A14 = 1.3 (30% faster than A12)

A14 by this logic would be (1.3/1.2) -> 8.33% faster than the A13 which preceded it... No wonder they used the A12 as their baseline. PPW must be way up though, which is just as important.

I would go with the 12 Pro instead if I just couldn't fit the 12 Pro Max in my pocket comfortably. Otherwise, I'd be willing to pay an extra $100 to get a bigger screen and better telephoto lens.

Probably going to go with the 12 Pro, coming from a 7 plus. Price difference is minimal between the pro and non-pro, and I don't really care about the camera improvements to the max. I think it'll be nice to have a somewhat smaller phone again.

Yeah i'm not sure the Pro's worth it for my needs.

FYI, the Pacific Blue is just for the Pro range. The Non-Pro range has a different blue.

I'm a fan of the Pacific Blue & Graphite myself.

After watching the keynote I’m probably not going to upgrade this year.

Although I’m on the upgrade program.

Torn between Pro and Pro Max. I would love to get the Pro cuz it is smaller than the Max(I run and go to the gym so less hassle), but I also love taking pics as I enjoy traveling/trekking, so I want the better camera. Sigh.

Whenever I want to carry around something less bulky, for example, doing brisk exercise outside. It will be nice to be able to slip a much smaller iPhone into my pocket for those occasions.
Exercise is where the cellular watch comes into play. Carrying a phone to me when exercising is just a massive pain, the watch you don’t even notice it’s there.

I’m now undecided on Silver, Gold and the Pacific Blue for the Pro Max. At least I have until November 6th to make a final decision.
Silver will show off lots of tiny scratches over time.
Gold looks like a champagne gold to me from the back. Only the stainless steel is shiny thus making it stand out.
Pacific Blue has a blue texture and it's a flagship phone.

Perhaps, maybe use the AR thingy from Apple's mobile browser and see how they look from all the sides and dimensions???

The renders are very appealing looking this year however we need to see it in person ;)

I will get the Pro Max (I think). I currently have the 11 Pro. Before that I had the larger Pro Max. I decided to downsize last year to see if I preferred the little smaller phone.

I have had mixed feelings. For putting a pocket the 11 Pro is better (I am female so pockets tend to be small). But I also read a lot on my phone on Kindle books and like the larger size for that. So I think I will go back to the larger size.

Love the idea of a small phone, but I consume so much media on my phone that I’m going for the Max. My top 4 apps in terms of screen time are YouTube, YoutubeTV, Twitch, and Apollo. The Max makes more sense.
