The 11 Pro is the absolute limit of physical device size I’m willing to go. So if there is no Pro model that is the same physical size or smaller, I’ll likely skip this year. I couldn’t care less about screen size. I’m effectively hoping that the 6.1” device is the same physical size as the 11 Pro. It may very well be, there’s right around .2 of bezel still left.

I'd like to get the smallest 12, but, if it doesn't come with optical zoom, then, I will choose the smaller 12 Pro.

I'm thinking I'll go with the 12 Pro. My 11 Pro Max is already teetering on being too big, but the XS I had was a smidge too small. The 6.1' should be perfectly in the middle of those two. As long as there is feature parity between the two and the battery is at least as good as my 11 Pro Max, the 12 Pro should suit me perfectly.

My current iPhone X is already big enough for one hand. I wish the smaller pro was the same size as the 5.4, or at least the same size with the 5.8" current iPhones.

am going too upgrade too the iPhone 12 pro 6.1" at long last the pro model will not feel too small or to big all so I never own the pro model of the iPhone be for and I all so find the 6.1" screen size the sweet spot for me not too big or not too small

Based on purported screen resolution, scaled to 5.4" then adding a generous 3.5mm bezel, my own random calcs will put the 5.4" phone ~5.9mm wider than my iPhone SE1 and ~2.8mm less than the iPhone SE2.

It is with a heavy heart that I think this is the best I'll ever be able to get to replacing my stalwart SE.

Those 2.8mm have been very hard fought.

‘5.4’ in the fall and then my work phone I would like to upgrade to the iPhone SE 2+ in the rumored first quarter for 2021. That way it gives me the advantage of still having touch ID and Face ID. Although I do prefer Apple Pay with touch ID, it is much more seamless and overall efficiently mannered.

Interestingly enough, the sizes people would buy are distributed equally (at the moment) between the 5,4” iPhone 12 and the 6,1 and 6,7” iPhone Pro models. Almost nobody wants the 6,1” iPhone.

I want the smallest iPhone possible and I think 5,4” will be the PERFECT size. Only thing I’m sad is I’ll be missing Telephoto lens and LiDAR, but on the other hand that makes it the cheapest iPhone in many years... SE aside.

If they use PWM, I'm not buying any of them. I like the 5.4-inch size, though.
I’m afraid that’s the only way, or at least the most commonly used, to dim an OLED screen... but yeah I’m afraid of headaches as well.

Hmm. Might be the first year I don't upgrade. Had the original and can't believe I am thinking this.

But fact is, I'd rather spend more money on some Sony a7iii lenses versus another phone. Just starting to think $1449 every year is a little over the top especially after buying my niece a 2020 MacBook Air for graduation at the same price point.

I’ll be getting the 3rd generation of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, also known as the iPhone 13 Pro Max. By then my iPhone X should have a good run.

The one without the PWM torture device, which as they are all going OLED it looks like none of them shamefully. Let’s hope that Apple follows companies like OnePlus and offer a PWM free mode on their displays as I would like to be able to upgrade to a new iPhone going forward and since micro led is a good few years away at least I doubt my 11 can hold on that long, the screen already has a couple of deep scratches which are annoying me.

From this thread it’s obvious most everyone wants the smallest size possible.

The few who don’t would rather go with the largest size possible and not the middle one. The ones who don’t fall in this camp, don’t want the smallest size only because they’ll miss out on essential features. So had the Pro offered a 5.4” model, they would have bought that instead of the 6.1”.

For almost nobody on this thread is price the main/only reason to go with 5.4”. It’s only the cherry on the top. You get the better sized phone. And it happens to be the cheaper one as well.

I have been saying this for ages. The iPhone 6 had the perfect dimensions. If you could make it very slightly smaller but full size, you’ve got a winner on your hand. And people will buy it regardless of how it is priced, of course within reason.

Something like the 5.4” iPhone is the perfect candidate for almost anybody coming from the SE/6-8/X/11 phone sizes. It’s what everybody has wanted all along. The only reason it won’t be the biggest success of all time is because many people also want every single feature available.

So had the iPhone and iPhone Pro both come in 5.4”, Apple would probably have got >70% of their new iPhone sales from just these two models.

I think this phone may just be the one to put the "Do people really want small phones?" question to bed. I believe many people sized up because there was no other option. Finally, we have the choice of a modern and small phone and people are jumping on it.

6.1" might just be a bad spot. Many thought it was popular due to existing sales (XR, etc) but that may have actually been due to the price and not the size. It may end up being "too small" for people who want a phablet and "too big" for people that want a pocketable phone. I know if there was a 5.8" Pro I'd have a tough choice.

Interestingly enough, the sizes people would buy are distributed equally (at the moment) between the 5,4” iPhone 12 and the 6,1 and 6,7” iPhone Pro models. Almost nobody wants the 6,1” iPhone.

I am predicting the opposite. The 6.1" Pro might be worst-selling device. Why?

* Phablet lovers who can afford it will get the 6.7" Pro
* Those who can't afford the Pro prices and want a big phone will get the 6.1" or an Android device
* Budget users will buy either the 5.4" or the 6.1" iPhone
* Those who want something small will obviously grab the 5.4"
* 6.1" isn't pocketable, at that size you might as well just size up to the 6.7"

This obviously depends on what features get cut from the non-Pro devices.

Will definitely get the largest and most expensive iPhone every year. I need to show off to people in the public that I have the latest and greatest Apple product. Not the inferior 5.4" tiny iPhone model.
People on the streets are dying with jealousy and envy at those who can afford to get the largest, most superior iPhone

5.4 let‘s go! If it has the flat edge design and main camera equalling the 11 or better (ideally matching the 12 Pro) I’m sold. I love high refresh screens but don’t care on a screen that small, or any phone really. If it’s there cool, I’ll use it depending on the hit on battery life.

5.4” practically unnoticeable in pocket and easy one handed messaging. iPad when I want to view content on a bigger screen and hopefully a EOS R5 when I want high quality pics and video.

Whichever doesn't sacrifice camera performance for size. In 2019 it was the 11 Pro. For this one, we'll see.

PS. The suffix "Pro Max" is still pure cringe

12 will be a gimped pro like the 11 is now, so will keep my 11 pro or get the new max pro.
Funny how you consider a phone that only lacks the telephoto lens and has a LCD vs the OLED that many can't really see a difference between the two, as 'gimped'.
