Eyeing the Apple Watch (non sport and non watch edition).

Would get black or blue straps for that familiar look of a traditional watch.

I'm looking at this one http://www.apple.com/watch/apple-watch/ wonder how much it will cost? More than the sport one but I'm hoping it's not over £1000

With confirmation that it'll require a daily charge, I think I'm 90% sure I'll wait until the second generation and hope they improve the battery.

Unfortunately (loth-ion) battery technology is fairly static (at least compared to other electronics). Most improvements will have to come from the S chips and sensors efficiency. For the foreseeable future improvements are likely to be small incremental at best and likely very little as more sensors/features are added.

Boo... well it definitely gives me more incentive to wait and I'm not a patient person .

Your choice to wait could be up to a decade. While there are promising battery technology improvements on the horizon it's still all in testing at this point. Or you can just accept that you will have to charge your watch basically the same way you do you phone.

Well I mean I'd wait at least until the second generation depending. I'm getting the Basis Peak in a couple weeks which should satisfy my current interests unless the Apple Watch 1 has some amazing feature in the first gen.

I can support this way of doing it.;) The Basis Peak looks interesting.

Likely the stainless steel. Not sure about the strap or size. I'll decide when I can see them. I'm hoping some third parties offer straps as I'd really like to get a Natural Chromexcel leather strap.

Originally I was leaning toward the steel one, but given Apple's history of making big improvements in the 2nd gen of a device, I might get the space grey sport just to play around with for a year or two, then upgrade to the stainless steel when the platform is more developed and battery life has improved. I'll probably grab the link bracelet though.

That's wise but personally I think you'll crave (because we're not always wise). :p it's a fraction of a cost of your RiMac. Unless you don't have iPhone it'll be fun to use these two together. A little bit of savings isn't worth the wait IMO. ;)

That is what we call an instigator ;) It isn't really about savings, its more about the fact that I don't try to buy every generation of something so waiting means getting a better item in the end. And yes I don't always wait... like RiMac

I wonder if that "349" starter price watch includes a strap?

Will it be like cases, and the strap is extra..?

Almost certainly and it will be the fluoroelastomer band. This appears to be the base band on all models except with a gold pin on the Edition.

Also Apple will be glad to sell you all the extra bands you want as well as many 3ed party bands will be available too.
