I'll get an Apple Watch, but I'm still somewhat skeptical about smart watch devices. That's why I'll go for the base model - If the device proves to be awesome than I'll go for a stainless steel version in a few years time (assuming they all have the same features).

Sport is the base ($350) model.

I'll go for the cheapest model they offer -- it will still be a significant upgrade from the Pebble that I wear today.

Just curious. Post pictures and why are you choosing that style?

None. Cause it looks dorky and I haven't worn a watch (or felt a need for one because of my iPhones) for almost a decade.
I pretty much don't see anyone else under the age of 50 wearing a watch either, so my guess is all that all you Apple watch wearers will be few and far between.

Where I work, we have a pretty diverse age range of employees. I actually see the younger employees (low 20's) wearing watches more often than any other age range at the office. Now, that obviously doesn't mean they will be wearing an Apple Watch, but I just think it's interesting we have such different observations.

I'm on the sidelines for now about if I will be purchasing an Apple Watch or not. I cannot decide if it would look appropriate in a work environment or not (obviously Apple thinks so with the SS and Edition versions, but I am unable to decide at this time). If I were to go with one, it would depend on the final price, but I would lean toward the SS Space Black. If they find a way to make these upgradeable in the future, then I will most likely buy it. If not, then I personally do not see much point in making the purchase.

There is a VERY important point here, many are missing.

These guys, they are wearing watches, not for their function mainly, knowing the time, but for their own personal fashion statement.
They pick a watch that they like personally and says something about them.
They probably mostly have different watches as it gives them the feeling of individuality that most people like. People like things that are special and personal to them.

Now, please think about it.

Do you think they will get this same feeling by all wearing the same watch from Apple?

Other than a small size difference, which you'd probably not notice from a few feet away unless they were put size by side.

It's just the color that is different of the watch and a different strap.

I do wonder how a lot of men, or women would feel seeing load of people all around them wearing the same watch.

Gone is your own personal style, your individuality, what makes a watch, esp for guys who mostly won't be wearing any other jewelry, that is your own statement lost.

I do feel this is a very overlooked issue.

Sure it will be cool at 1st, you have the Apple watch and you feel special as very few have, but the more people who get it, the more it will lose this aspect, perhaps making people turn back to something mechanical to get back their own feeling of individuality.

Whilst, I am in no way saying I like Android Wear, or that Android Wear is currently as advanced as Watch OS, there is a potential long term plus on that side, in that, over time you could have 10, 20, 50 separate brands all with their own models and styles all offering Android Wear watches.

I have a different experience myself. The guys I see wearing watches and who seem to care about watches are true, either younger guys in their early/mid 20s or they are much, much older guys (60s). They seem to be into watches because their friends are into watches. It is a bit of a hive mind so I would expect that they could have a similar hive mind with apple watches, maybe. Although realistically, most people I know at work (extremely white collar, overpaid people - myself included) don't have watches. I only like gadgets, no interest in a watch but gadgets are interesting.

The one I'd really like (or Midnight Blue modern leather strap):

The only one I'll probably be able to afford:

About 50:50 on buying one, will depend on price and whether it's upgradeable down the line. Definitely the 38mm one though, my current watch is smaller than that and is about as big as I'd want.

Stainless steel with the black leather band. The smaller one - I think that's the 38mm? If it's $500 or less, that's what I'm getting.

42mm Fight between those two.

And a fun rubber strap for a more informal look

It depends on price if Apple Watch is $500-600 range then it will be the choice, if not then the Sport with the white band.

Based on observations it looks like you are limited maybe to the rubber bands with the Sport model while the Watch model can use the sport AND the metal bands.

The Sport will only come with the fluoroelastomer band but you can buy any band you want (fer any aWatch) as an extra or buy a 3ed party band.

Oki doki. I'll buy the Apple Watch for fun and then take the additional $7000+ I saved from not buying that Panerai and invest it in a S&P 500 index fund. Let's talk in 15-20 years and see how you feel about who made the better choice :p

Oki doki. I'll buy the gold Apple Watch for fun for $7000+ and put it in a safe without even opening the box. Let's talk in 15-20 years and see how you feel about me selling the watch on ebay for cool $700K because it's such a rarity only true idiots bought it. :p

I love this. It's the same model Tim wore on the past keynote. I wish it won't cost more than 480€. I know this is a high price but I love it so much. If i could not afford it I would choose the Sport model.

Do you think the 42mm model will cost pretty much than the 38mm model?
