All of the comments from people stating "I am keeping my iPhone 7, 6, etc as it works great, especially after new battery", is the best endorsement for my buying the X Max. I mentioned earlier that I'm "lining up" for the first time, and one reason I'm doing it is that I get the feeling that it's a phone I can run for a long time. So many other iPhone owners do, and I'm sure I could too. If I had an X, or to consider trading the iPhone 8 plus for a new X (to end up with two new Xs) doesn't seem worth it.
But in hindsight, my 8 Plus was worth it, and I suspect the X Max will be too. And we'll run 'em both as long as they are operationally and security wise (updated with Apple software) viable. So it's the "I'm keeping mine" that reinforces this purchase as much as my positive iPhone 8 Plus experience did.
Am I the only person excited by the XR? Really like the look of the red one and I think the spec is pretty good for the price. Currently have an 8.
I'm not buying one, but for a "step down value offering" looks
really impressive. Quite drool-y, actually. It's a full $350 less than the X Max at base price. That's substantial, yet it has that "new" via the full screen, face ID, and A12 chip. If my wife bugs me about hers being the older phone (and the fingerprint scanner for entry might end up having her tugging my sleeve) than this is the play. If she prefers a smaller unit it might also be the play. I have my eye on that as it might be the "option two" in my pair if my iPhone 8/X Max combo here draws too much sleeve tugging (have iPhone 8 Plus, giving to wife, buying X Max).
This lineup is Apple swinging for the fences, Babe Ruth style. It isn't the "one new phone" as much as it's the totality of this lineup and what it represents to EVERY potential buyer. A "Hot phone", latest greatest, along with a "pretty hot phone #2" (Xr) that brings the "new" for a lower price. But then there is the rest of the lineup that means that if you want the $500 phone, you can get it. Like the old school home button or 16 x 9 screens? No matter what the buyer is looking for, Apple has a bunch more answers, and that makes Apple more of a juggernaut than they already are.
I think Apple CRUSHES with this lineup.
