Well no reason to upgrade from iPhone X, other than Camera DOF and display size.
So I’m keeping the X.
The camera is new entirely, not just depth of field. It has a new sensor and a new pixel size which is a huge upgrade as far as photo quality goes, because larger pixels take in more light and thus more detail.

Non, Just ordered a Vivo Nex for $600 dollars. 6.6 inch smartphone with an in display fingerprintscanner and a Snapdragon 845 with 8GB of ram. I think Apple phone prices are getting ridiculous by now .

Chinese phones are not only spyware, but cut quality in more ways than one. In the end you get what you pay for.

Also, the A12 is faster than that (even the last gen A11 is), it's not OLED, and 8GB is entirely unnecessary. Also there are ethical reasons to not buy from a Chinese company at a time where China is putting hundreds of thousands of minorities in Xinjiang in concentration camps.

I have X and the new products doesnt tickle me a bit. Innovation is at the max and is almost dead.
1.5 hour longer battery life, much superior camera, thinner bezels, faster faceID, 7nm, 6.5 inch screen size. This is the phone the X should've been.

I think they did a great job and I'm glad I waited.

Do you really believe in that nonsense? 90% of today's smartphone marked is produced in China. So why would they have a lower standard on their own products and a higher one when they produce products for foreign company's that hire them. Don't fall in to the American propaganda .

They're produced in China according the technical know-how, and the standards of the particular company. Apple has staff from headquarters there. The location is irrelevant.

It's the same reason you can get lead poisoning from the paint on Chinese toys, or risk birth defects by using Chinese baby formula. But if you buy something manufactured in China by an American company, for the American market, you avoid those risks because you're not allowed to sell that stuff in the American market or use those materials in the United States. Don't fall for Chinese propaganda.

Shut out of the watching the event as my 6s is on ios9, but let's list the important take-aways:

ugly notch
no TouchID
no smaller phone
marginally longer battery life on the XS (compared to the year before)
measly 64gb base
starting price of 1k (OLED models)

Yeah, I'm fine with sticking to my 6s.
You prefer gigantic bezels over a tiny little notch? That’s weird.

I’ve been using the iPhone X since launch and can easily say the notch isn’t noticeable during regular use. It’s a non-issue.

Sure it has a new Sensor, but does not worth in my opinion. I have a X, but if it wasn’t the tele optical image stabilization, it wouldn’t even worth to upgrade from iP7 Plus to iPhone X. Just minor differences. Not even because of the Portrait Mode it worth upgrading from X*. All too blurry even with new sensor. It got better, but still too blurry.

You clearly do not have an idea in what you're talking about. First of all those products you're referring towards are already being banned. Also those products where made in illegal factory's by thug's who didn't care about national laws and rules regulations. I bet you've never been in to China. It would be an eye-opener for you.

Secondly if the Chinese standards weren't that high non of those big companies would have done business with them. Do you actually understand that those people who are assembling those smartphones are Chinese people and not Americans. If they didn't had the skillset or the knowledge it would not been possible.

So stop believing those American's propaganda.

You forget one thing: the chinese manufacturing plants aren't owned by Apple (for commercial and legal reasons, otherwise it would be too complicated to export then import the goods to America), but the production process is entirely managed by Apple according to their requirements. From the materials used to the end-to-end manufacturing process, QA, shipping & handling and distribution, and later disposal and recycling, Apple owns the entire lifecycle of all of its products. OK, I may pay more but at least I know what's in the device and how it is being built and managed and discarded. And it's not (just) "American propaganda", it's the reality, as independent organisations show (data collection, disposal and recycling, etc.)

Very tempted to go for a 64GB 8 with the £100 discount from last years price to replace my 6S. The 8 has the same chip as the X so should last easily for the next 3+ years and it's £400 cheaper than an XS with the same storage.
That's not a bad choice. I have the 6s Plus and it still works fine and believe it should last another year or more at least. I purchased it from a reseller for only £500 9 months after it was released. Plan to do something similar when I purchase the successor to the XR next year.

I really do not see any requirement to upgrade every year and it is quite acceptable to delay upgrading for at least 2-3 years each time.

Man I'm still on my 6 Plus and after 4 years I'm still not really 100% compelled to upgrade.

A part of me wants to for the snappier phone and better camera but I'm not sure it's worth paying $50 a month for.
I still have my 6s Plus and see no reason to upgrade either. Until my phone actually starts showing real signs of unusability rather than simply opening an app a nano second slower that it used to then I see no reason to upgrade.

Same. Probably. These prices get any higher and I will prob need to sadly reconsider brands.
I got the note 9 on release date but sent it back after a week and went back to 8 plus. iPhone just seem a lot smoother and just works better in my opinion

Although the XR looks to be very promising and the amount it offers at the price point, that phone is simply not for me. Really because I do want the OLED experience moving forward. LCD is great, but I am past that after all the previous iPhone models over the years.

Going from 6s Plus to Xs Max, 256gb.
Could do with my 6s Plus longer, but I'm going for the better camera.

And I'll probably use the Max for at least the next 4 years.

I have an X and will keep it. Damn, I would not upgrade even if I still was on a 7.
While watching the Keynote I was not even able to make a list of the real innovations of this S line. Nothing.

On the other hand, I love what they are doing with the Watch. That ECG functionality, that is something indeed!

The ECG did look cool but it's coming soon. After the wireless charging pad thing and taking up to a year on other "coming soon" features, it's better to wait til it actually happens and grab a discount or just wait for apple watch 4(S). Group Facetime is another.

That's the thing. Knowing 5G is coming to my area this fall, there's no way I'll be using even an XS for past a year. But I want the big (and from what I hear, more vibrant than last iphone X) screen so I'll grab a 256gb XS max. I'm a sucker for better screens.

And I'll also grab a new one next year. Not ideal but I write these things off anyways.

I am even less excited for ipads now. OLED is a must. What they'll be offering will be a bigger iphone XR complete with lesser quality screen.

Might pass, going back and forth. I’d go for the Max if anything, but pretty content with iOS 12 on my X. I’m usually happy throwing money at new gadgets, but may just go for the iPad Pro and S4 and that’s it this year.

Tab S4?

I'll probably stick with my 6s Plus, especially since I can still get the $30 battery replacement.

With the high price of the Xs Max and how well people still dig my 6s+ camera photos, I'm just not compelled to spend $1300 for a new phone yet.

I used to religiously upgrade every other year; but now, since most new features are just bells & whistles anymore, it makes great fiscal sense to wait every 3 or 4 years to upgrade. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Besides, changing the battery makes a huge difference. I had the ailing battery of my 6S Plus changed before handing it out to my sister when I got the X last year. She's thrilled as she basically got a device as good as new. And with iOS 12, we can expect performance boosts for newer models, which decreases the need to upgrade ever so often.

I'm going to stick with my 256 GB iPhone X. I'll wait until the iPhone XI next year.

Sticking with my X for another year - the first time I am not going to upgrade year over year since the 3GS.

I actually really like the XR - the Product RED version looks amazing (As does the blue one.) I probably would have went for that if I was upgrading this year from a 7 or 8.

I don't want a massive phone again, so the Max is out. And I wasn't impressed with the XS upgrades, slightly improved camera sensors combined with a bunch of software processing features already available on my X through third party apps. Faster Face ID would be nice, but it is already fast enough - I more want Face ID that works at wider angles and in landscape which I don't think this does. Basically upgrading to the XS would give me no truly noticeable change from my X, which is tough considering the cost of upgrading (And comparing it to the quantum leap that was going from the 7 Plus to X.)

So I'll save my phone cash and just upgrade my Watch and iPad.

[doublepost=1536851179][/doublepost]Glad to hear people are finally drawing a line in the sand over the prices Apple charges.

I’m going from an 8 Plus to the XS Max 64gb via the IUP. But I’m hoping off the annual upgrades after this. Hoping to keep this one for 2-3 years as the prices are getting too hefty.
