This time last year was an exciting time to upgrade, new form factor, no home button and face id. I bought the iphone X in space grey 256 and I like it. I remember pre order day was quite exhilarating lol.

Anyway this year not upgrading as it is more of the same. Will be waiting another year or two until something something changes significantly again on the iphone. Good luck to all on pre-order day!

You clearly do not have an idea in what you're talking about. First of all those products you're referring towards are already being banned. I bet you've never been in to China. It would be an eye-opener for you.

Secondly if the Chinese standards weren't that high non of those big companies would have done business with them. Do you actually understand that those people who are assembling those smartphones are Chinese people and not Americans. If they didn't had the skillset or the knowledge it would not been possible.

So stop believing those American's propaganda.
I know exactly what I'm talking about. The amount of dangerous materials used in the manufacturing of domestic products in China is much higher than the United States, and much higher than the rest of the developed world in general.

Also those products where made in illegal factory's by thug's who didn't care about national laws and rules regulations.
That may be so, but it's important to point out that the biggest thug in China is the authoritarian government itself.

I bet you've never been in to China. It would be an eye-opener for you.
I have been to China. The police took my phone without a warrant, because someone saw me using a "banned" app (Facebook). It's dystopian there.

I have also seen what they're doing in Xinjiang.

Secondly if the Chinese standards weren't that high non of those big companies would have done business with them.
Yes they do. People do business with China, not because their standards are high, but because in China slave labor is legal in that you're allowed to pay your factory workers basically nothing.

Do you actually understand that those people who are assembling those smartphones are Chinese people and not Americans. If they didn't had the skillset or the knowledge it would not been possible.
All they are doing is putting pieces together. It's cheap labor that anyone can do with a little bit of training, the only reason they choose China is because it is legal there to pay them much less than they would have to pay Americans, because of minimum wage laws here.

The skillset and the knowledge comes from the engineers who are flown in from America, and the machines built by Apple that handle the more complex parts.

So stop believing those American's propaganda.
Have you seen my profile picture? I'm not believing "American's propaganda". I frequently criticize the bad parts of America. However I frequently criticize the bad parts of China too, and that seems to put you into a state of denial.

By the way, defending everything China does just because you're asian is the definition of racism.

You prefer gigantic bezels over a tiny little notch? That’s weird.

I’ve been using the iPhone X since launch and can easily say the notch isn’t noticeable during regular use. It’s a non-issue.

We know the notch will probably stick around for a year or two more.

I know why it exists...but no amount of excusing it will ever make it palatable.

I was originally going to go for the 64GB XS Max, but I'm going to go for the 256GB now.

Here are the rationalizations I made to get me to actually buy the device and to upgrade storage:
  1. I'm going to plan to keep it for years. I always seem to keep iPhones longer and be happier with iPhones more than any Androids, so it shouldn't be an issue. If I'm going to keep it for years, I should be prepared to need more storage over time, therefore, I should go for the 256GB version.
  2. Apple's resale value is top notch. Even if I decide to sell the iPhone rather than keep it a while, I'll be able to get a lot more money back than I would with Android.
  3. If iPhone prices didn't lower this year, they certainly won't in the future. I might as well sell my Galaxy now before the resale value drops significantly more, and that way the iPhone will be cheaper than if I decided to switch back next year.

I will most likely be going from my 8+ to a 128gb xr in that gorgeous red.. waiting for eSim functionality with my carrier first, but also aware that I want to upgrade my iPad this season. So it may not happen for some time. Seriously wish Canada had the iup :(

Tough choice i could pass or buy the iPhone 8 problem i have is for me since both my 6s and Apple Watch S2 both work fine i'm finding it hard to justify spending the money if anything i'm more excited about upgrading to iOS 12.

I feel the same way. Just woke up to pee, fired up the Apple store app and still see the unlocked available for delivery.

Went through the motions through check out and looked at the $1300+ price tag after tax and decided against it. My iPhone X 256gb will be just fine for another year.

Going back to sleep.

Passing, as I hold steady with my beloved iPhone 6s Plus 128Gb; especially since I'm getting the $30 Apple battery upgrade.

The thing that REALLY makes me want to bite for the Xs Max is the newer camera. But I don't think the 6s Plus camera is posing any real problems for me, especially since it still impresses on my Instagram for folks.

I'll buy when the 5G iPhones come out, at this point, which hopefully would be next year or more definitely in 2020.

You are right in doing so. I had a 6S Plus 128 gb too, and got the Apple battery upgrade as well, before handing it out to my sister when I got the X. You will see, it's going to be like getting a brand-new phone. In any case my sister is very happy with it :)

I got the note 9 on release date but sent it back after a week and went back to 8 plus. iPhone just seem a lot smoother and just works better in my opinion

Which is why Android is not an alternative to me but the hardware is pretty nice in the Note devices. If Android OS was more efficient, battery life would be a killer in them.

Although the XR looks to be very promising and the amount it offers at the price point, that phone is simply not for me. Really because I do want the OLED experience moving forward. LCD is great, but I am past that after all the previous iPhone models over the years.

It’s slightly overpriced, IMO. $699 would be a good price for it.

I was set to get a red XR. But I screwed up and checked my carrier website this morning. I have a 256gb XS Max on the way for sept 21. I hope I don’t regret battery life.

I'm not seeing my money's worth at those prices, especially in Canada. It will be a pass for me.

Pass. Sticking with the 8 hoping for a SE 2 release next year and also hoping Apple will bring back Touch ID implemented behind the screen.

I use to upgrade every year starting with the 3g. My last new iPhone was the 7 Jet Black. I was seriously considering updating this year especially if they reduced the price but not interested in paying $1000 for a phone. Besides, now that I’m retired I rely more on the iPad or MacBook Pro than on my phone.

Now if Apple or AT&T drops the price on the original X they have in stock I might jump on one.

Well I caved in... Woke up early this morning and checked AT&T saw they had the Xs Space Grey still available for launch day delivery so I jumped on it. Was going to go into local AT&T store on launch day to get the X at a reduced price (rumor is $100 off). Decided to go for the Xs, probably worth the price difference between the two.

Never thought I would spend $1000 on a cell phone!

I won't be upgrading my 256GB 8 Plus and Watch Series 3. The phone is halfway paid off... meaning by this time next year I can sell it and apply the funds to a new model. It still performs flawlessly... as does the Watch.

I have an amazing 65" OLED TV... and while OLED is the absolute best tech for home theater... it's not a pressing need on my phone. I'm good with LCD and Touch ID another year as well.

Camera on the phone? Could care less. I have a Panasonic GH5 and multiple lenses that I use for stunning photos and 4K 60 fps video. It destroys anything you can do on a phone camera for obvious reasons. All I use my phone camera for is quick shots I don't really care about... LOL.

All that being said... I see no reason to upgrade.
