Hmm, considering the amount of people that actually check for backlight bleeding, or even know what it is, it actually seems like a decent amount of people have it. Most people don't bother to check. Got to look at things in proportion/scale too. If that many Macrumours/Reddit members, a small randomized group of people, have the same problem, there's probably a lot of other people who aren't on tech forums that would have it as well. That is still a small minority of iPad Air owners. I have a little less than yours, and only in one spot. I don't mind it since it only shows up in photos, as long as I don't see it on letterboxes while watching a movie I don't mind the lightbleed that much.View attachment 984898
Here is mine. What do you all think?
Quite obvious when watching letterbox video, e.g. Apple TV+
Frustrating, as I checked my Ipad 7 and the screen is incredibly uniform. I have never had to return an Apple product, but I think this is going to be my first time. However I will not be playing screen lottery. I will wait a few months to see if they fix the issue. Given the number and consistence of the location of the problem it would appear to be a manufacturing issue. Apple QC has obviously done their cost/benefit analysis of correcting the problem and determined that their will not be enough returns to justify an immediate fix.
You need to show it with max brightness on a black background. Impossible to see anything on a white background.View attachment 1683135
Just got my Air 4 yesterday. No notable light bleed. True Tone off, night shift off, 100% brightness.
Ah, sorry about that. I’ll check when it’s dark again. You need to show it with max brightness on a black background. Impossible to see anything on a white background.
Yes he has it on the white background for it show up it has to be on black background.View attachment 1683135

Doing the math, there could be around 30,000+ out of 2 million iPad Airs that have the issue we call “Bleeding on the Back”. This number is likely higher, as the bleed is at the exact same spot for everyone that reported it and there are people that reported that even their replacements had it. This signals that it's a systemized re-occurance and not something random. At the very minimum there are tens of thousands of iPad Airs from the first batch with this exact same screen issue.

You can’t really do that, it is way too bright in the store. You need a dark room to properly be testing it.I played around with the best buy floor model for about an hour and didnt notice any bleeding around the edges, changed it to dark mode and lowered the brightness....I was satisfied with the air, but still wondering if I should just get the pro even though Im only going to use it as a consumption device
your bound to see a small amount bleeding on any display checking it in a dark room and cranking the brightness up, unacceptable bleeding would be checked in normal room lighting with something dark being displayed ...extreme bleeding will show even with lighter colorsYou can’t really do that, it is way too bright in the store. The Pro’s don’t have this bleed, even in a pitch black room with max brightness. Now whether that defect is important to you or not depends on the person.
And that's why Apple let them switch it out 4 TIMES. And if this person still doesn't like their device, they'll be able to return it.
What's incredible is that you feel the need to bash fanboys on an ... APPLE forum.
Apple will let this person get their money back if they're not satisfied. But to do this 4 times is going on a bit much. Most reasonable people won't do this.
