I know it is useless to pontificate at this point (but if we didn’t this forum would be pretty slow); do we think the mini will get leather cases this on 11/6? I believe in years past Apple only made leather cases for the Pro and Max right? Really looking to pair a Red mini with baltic leather case or blue with saddle brown.

Going to be a busy day on November 6/13 for my family, ordering and then waiting for packages. I’m getting the Mini in blue, my wife is getting the Mini in white, and my mom is getting the Mini in green.

Yeah, I’m sure they will. I saw an image that showed the standard iPhone 12 in the new leather cases, so I’m sure the Mini will get them as well.

edit: here’s the image/rendering I saw of the iPhone 12 in a leather case.

Apparently they will, but the only official wording I have seen regarding the leather is that it is coming for the Pro (from Apple's own newsroom). I see no reason why they won't make them, but failing that you can get a Mujjo leather case for the Mini which are high quality and feel almost as nice, only problem is they are often a little bit more padded/thicker than the Apple ones.

I'm starting to doubt my decision. I currently have a 7 Plus, which has a 5.5" screen. I was dead set on having a mini with a slightly smaller 5.4" screen. However, I picked up my partner's XR and although heavy and a little bulky, the screen is nice and big. With the 12 having the same size screen as the XR (6.1"), I'm wondering whether that's the way to go. Ideally, I'd hold both in store, and make a decision... but COVID means I really don't want to go into store any time soon. Any thoughts?

Get a 12 and get a mini and return one.

What you have to keep in mind is that the iPhone 12 mini display is actually a lot smaller than the 7 plus display. Despite the fact that the screen, when measured diagonally, is just 0.1” smaller on the mini, the screen area is in fact a lot smaller. This is because the mini screen is a lot taller and narrower (it has a different aspect ratio) than the 7 plus. A tall aspect ratio makes for a long diagonal. The 5.8” iPhone 11 Pro actually has a smaller screen area when measured height x width, than the 5.5” 7 or 8 plus.

I haven't looked into this but I'm guessing the reason they show the regular iPhone 12 is because it actually fits the iPhone 12 (being as the 12 & 12 Pro are identical in dimensions).

But as stated previously, other 3rd party companies will surely release them for the 12 Mini.

Yeah you're quite right. Thank you. I've been switching between the two links below for the past 10 minutes 😅

iPhone 12 mini (exact size) and iPhone 12 (exact size)

*sigh*, no idea. Thanks for your help though! :)

I love this idea, except it's the initial outlay that's the problem :( I think it would be a bit farfetched to potentially need to buy one, then the other, then go back to the original one
Then go into a store with a mask and sanitize your hands afterwards.

Making cardboard mock-ups and holding them really sealed the deal for me. Obviously won’t be able to “see” the screen but with a little imagination it may help decide. :)

I think y’all convinced me. I loved my og se. my concern is the battery life, but I can cancel my 12 order, be patient, and see what the reviews are for the 12. It doesn’t look like they are selling out fast.

Eck, nevermind. it shipped. I guess I will try it out and see....

I might do this, to be honest. My partner is shielding due to asthma so I’m very conscious of non-essential outings. Thanks!

That’s not a bad idea, actually. Thank you!

Was sure I was gonna go for the 12 Pro but seeing just how much wasn’t taken away from the mini, that I instantly changed me mind!

iPhone 5 was my favourite iPhone, both in size and form factor. Can’t wait.
I dug out my old 5S today to see how it felt in my hand. Much easier to hold onto than my SE 2020 due to the edging. The SE is a nice little device but with the discounts I can get from a Apple and TMobile for a trade sure makes it tempting. I’m hoping T-Mobile gives an incentive on the mini like it is doing on the 12.

people just get the apple battery case when it comes out. this way youll have longer life, a case and will preserve the internal battery. I would have gotten a battery case for the OG SE but they were all Chinese brand oversized crap with odd reviews of early death or accessory incompatible message after some time.

I picked up the 12 mini case from Pitaka on Amazon and it was here the next day. Does a good job letting me know how the phone will feel in my hand. It seems like it’s going to be perfect. I’m coming from an 11 Pro. It’s a chonker and I’ve never been a big fan of the size.

Pitaka says the case is fully compatible with MagSafe. We’ll see. They’re the closest thing I’ve found to going without a case. Love the texture, doesn’t stick inside pockets but isn’t slippery either. Been using them since the X.
