Don’t blame you. about to call my AT&T store later and see if they can preorder me the 12. They are an authorized retailer, but said if they order your phone for you, you can trade in in store.

I bet they’ll have stock the 23rd. So what I’ll do is take my unopened 12 Pro and hopefully switch it out if not then return the 12 Pro then buy the 12.

It's a bit crude, but I overlayed the mini (I planned to get) and Pro (I preordered) over the Max, trying to line up the left side of the front of the displays. Credit to the https://www.piliapp.com/actual-size/ site for the images. My actual size was on a 15.4" MacBook Pro.

I play with a X today and the screen is good at 5,8; I remember liking the 11P screen size.

The X is 174 g and the 6,1 12 is 162 g... tempting.

But the 133 g of the mini are going to be fantastic.

So I’ve been stuck in indecision for a while. I finally got comfortable with the lack of telephoto lens only to discover (1) the Pros have 6GB of RAM (I can live with that) and (2) the mini has the same point resolution of the 5.8” phones and runs in a scaled mode.

The mini should present the same amount of content as the iPhone 11 Pro, just smaller. That is ideal for many, but I’m slightly concerned about content size.

I’m more concerned about the scaling. The actual resolution isn’t quite large enough, the device renders everything at 3x and then scales it down by 9%-ish. With a resolution this high and the A14, the loss of sharpness and extra GPU load shouldn’t be noticeable, but we’ll have to see in practice.

I just can’t make my mind up between blue and white!

get the White. everyone and their mom will have the blue. the blue is kinda ugly but people go for what is new. next year it wont be blue. everything I own is metallic or white but electronics are space gray. this year I think ill go with white because the black looks a bit dry. whites, blacks, grays, metallic and silver never go out of style. always look classy and clean although too may males go for blacks (furniture and cars) so I prefer to do the opposite. women who come over always comment on my white and metallic decor. looks futuristic.

I'm between Red and Green....

Yeah, I‘m a huge fan of Red, I just love the colour.
But as I’ve pointed out in another thread, I’m worried that this year’s red is not the same was last year’s (looks to be a shade lighter) and last year’s red was already a shade lighter than the XR from the previous year.

So I’ll check the actual red iPhone 12 when they’re released this Friday before deciding between the Red, the Blue or the Black iPhone 12 Mini

Some people have posted in this thread I started about this:

Nope. It’ll be better. 15 hours of video playback for the Mini, 13 for the SE. 50 hours of audio playback for the Mini, 40 for the SE.
Ah, right, I misremembered. 50 hours of video playback would be great though. :D

I'll be ordering both and decide when I have them in hand, but will probably pick white as always. (Assuming that I don't stay with the SE1 after all, which is a real possibility given the increased size and weight and glass back and notch and no Touch ID.)

For those considering the new mini and coming from the original SE or now prefer a smaller phone, the following pictures show a original SE next to a ESR screen protector guide for the new mini.

Wow this tool is cool!

A little off topic: the +0.11” height 12 pro vs. 11 pro looks quite substantial here. Hmm...

You can find detailed measurements here:

Interesting to compare side bezels (these exclude buttons) between iPhones:
  • SE 1: 3.43 mm
  • SE 2: 4.38 mm
  • 12 Mini: 3.27 mm
  • 12/12 Pro: 3.47 mm
So the 12 Mini is looking good!

EDIT: Proven wrong by posts below, was just my colorblindness playing tricks on me.

If you look at my post in that thread though, something doesn't add up. Apple's marketing images clearly indicate the mini has thicker bezels. While it could be an inaccurate render, it's easy to see and I feel like Apple would have corrected it if it wasn't the case.

Okay I have finally came to a decision to get the iPhone 12 mini. I currently have the XR and can’t wait. The iPhone 12 mini will be a natural upgrade for me. I will also be saving £250 if I go for the iPhone 12 mini compared to the iPhone 12 pro. As I will be getting the 256GB version as that’s what I have right now. Saving £250 by getting the iPhone 12 mini. I can put that £250 towards either a new MagSafe case and charger and also put that money towards a new Apple Air Pod Pro’s when they launch. Right now I have the standard AirPods so will use them until the new version of the pro gets launched.

I also read somewhere that I will only notice a loss of an hour of battery life compared to my XR. Plus I can always take my power bank with me. If I thought I would be needed if extra power and won’t be near a power source. One of the things I have put up with with the XR is that it gets too heavy to use after holding it for a while. Plus I am looking forward to just simply one hand use of the iPhone and a lighter iPhone. Anyways am excited and can’t wait for the review videos. Oh and I will be getting it in blue.

No it doesn’t. You’re seeing the display bezel, combined with the navy frame around the phone. It look’s thicker in that render vs the other phone, but it’s not.

I'm not sure what you're seeing. I did a little mockup in Photoshop with the same red rectangles on the regular 12 and mini. They're pretty close to being the same size.

Still leaning toward mini, but have not entirely ruled out 12 Pro. Discovered that my older Verizon plan doesn't include 5G, so now that is a factor as well. Hoping to get some hands on reviews of 12 Pro later this week and then I can completely exclude or wait for mini reviews. Not in a hurry, but do want to upgrade this year.

Again, louder for those in the back, the bezels on the Mini are NOT larger. Taken from the model comparison page on the Apple site...

I'm starting to doubt my decision. I currently have a 7 Plus, which has a 5.5" screen. I was dead set on having a mini with a slightly smaller 5.4" screen. However, I picked up my partner's XR and although heavy and a little bulky, the screen is nice and big. With the 12 having the same size screen as the XR (6.1"), I'm wondering whether that's the way to go. Ideally, I'd hold both in store, and make a decision... but COVID means I really don't want to go into store any time soon. Any thoughts?
I'm in the same situation, love the size of the 7 Plus screen, also am a bit concerned about the PWM flicker when dimming the screen (I like having the brightness below 50%), I've also held of upgrading in the hope Apple would remove the notch, but seems like that's not going to happen :(.
Anyways, I think the only think to do is to keep a cool head and wait for the review of the 12 Mini to come in before deciding on which to buy.
