Making cardboard mock-ups and holding them really sealed the deal for me. Obviously won’t be able to “see” the screen but with a little imagination it may help decide.
Do you have a pdf template you can share?
Just used a ruler, pencil, and these dimensions from apple.

i‘m happy not ordered the 12 or 12 pro
I will lose money but I will still change to 12 mini. To me it's an "upgrade", the 11 pro still feels too heavy and big.
I’d love a smaller phone too, and I’ve been thinking about and going back and forth, but found a perfect case for my 11 Pro that feels comfortable.. and since I’ve been used to the 5.8” screen size coming from the X, plus the battery life on the pro too.
so for now sticking with it, unless there are some good deals during the holidays. May wait for the hype to die down before I grab if I decide to.
I absolutely love the form factor although I have to handle the mini. My only concern is battery life. I have an 8 non plus and the battery life isn’t good. I’m a heavy user and have to charge my 8 2-3 a day before I get home.
Start using at 5:30AM by 8:30AM it’s down to 20%. Recharge to 100%. Then start using at about 9:30AM. Then by 12:30PM down to 20% for a charge. Then 1:30PM I leave work to go home. If I’m in the house I always keep my 8 on charge in case I have to make a run or something. But if I have to make a run I have a car charger that I’ll keep the 8 on.

... exactly: Battery on the mini is my main concern too ...! Everything else is great ...
So it’s a balance between form factor and battery life.
What’s most important to me is a device being comfortably pocketable with a case. The 8 is comfortably pocketable with a case. I had the 11 Pro for 4 months in a case and it was somewhat pocketable but not comfortably pocketable. Also was somewhat awkward using it 1 handed vs my 8 / SE 2020.
Battery life is almost up they with comfortable pocketable and it’s a huge concern. I have to charge my 8 multiple times throughout the day and it’s starting to become a PIA. Would even be more PIA when on vacation because I’ll definitely need a power bank.
I use a power bank now but it isn’t convenient to carry around your iPhone being charged to a power bank at the same time.
Maybe give the regular 12 a shot? since it’s thinner and lighter this year, plus the phone is a boxier design like in the past it’s probably easier to use 1 handed. The mini battery might be a little small for your needs.
Honestly speaking this is why you shouldn't use a case on the Mini, because the case is almost as big as the XS...
Yea having second thoughts, should have pre ordered the 12. Maybe I’ll eat the restocking fee and get the 12. Reason I got the 12 Pro is because I’ll get $800 trade in credit and the cost for the 12 Pro is going to be $6.xx a month.
I’m definitely getting the Mini. 133g ( I’m living in China ) is simply awesome. After 2 years with the XR, it’s time to actually enjoy what a phone is meant to be. Portable and truly one handed.

Don’t blame you. about to call my AT&T store later and see if they can preorder me the 12. They are an authorized retailer, but said if they order your phone for you, you can trade in in store.
I can’t decide between white and black. Lol. I have a white se2 and it looks clean. But, if apple makes a saddle brown case for it, then it doesn’t really matter. I have my reminder set to order the black 128gig variant. I have a feeling come “game day” I may end up switching to the white.I just can’t make my mind up between blue and white!

Im on the fence. I ordered a 12 Pro for the LIDAR assisted autofocus as I have small children That never sit still. But, I really wish they had a 12 Pro Mini. Currently rocking a X, so if focus doesnt seem that much better on the 12 Pro then i’ll be returning for a mini. The form factor really does seem like what we have been missing since the iPhone X.
A side point: I don’t now how many of you guys have real cameras, but my Sony has super quick eye AF and I can’t emphasize how amazing quick and perfect focusing is for a camera. Just being in focus and not having duds is 100x more important than any deep fusion or fancy computational photography.

One disadvantage of the white is that it makes those stupid EU markings stand out more.
I’d really have to see them with those markings.
