Wow this tool is cool!

A little off topic: the +0.11” height 12 pro vs. 11 pro looks quite substantial here. Hmm...

12 is looking out of proportion/tall to me, similar to samsungs.

My iPhone 8/se2 case compared to the liquid crystal for the mini. The phone with the case on will be a bit smaller that my se2 without a case. Pretty excited to have a smaller phone with more screen real estate.

What clear case is that? And what colour mini are you getting?

Have we seen any solid examples of what websites, keyboards, etc will look like on the iPhone 12 mini screen vs the iPhone 12 screen?

Specifically curious to see how much smaller the keyboard is...

I just can’t make my mind up between blue and white!

Looking at that 3D view, my OCD is kicking in about the asymmetric antenna bands. They are symmetric on the OG SE!

It will be the same as on the iPhone 11/12, just downscaled by ~8.3 %. The mini doesn’t introduce a new layout form factor, it’s just a downscaled regular iPhone screen. (Except for he notch, that is.)

I’m a little concerned too about the downscaling and how small the text might appear. I don’t understand all this resolution stuff and my eyes aren’t the best. I am currently on a iPhone 8 so hopefully it’s not smaller than that. I currently use Display Zoom on my device and that helps.

Ah, ok.

Actually the mini screen is 10.8 % smaller in width/height (89.2 % of the regular size), I didn’t account for the PPI difference above.

I believe you'll need to at least use the same display zoom (and maybe crank it up on notch). According to reputable developers working in Xcode, the iPhone 12 mini has the same effective point resolution as the 5.8" models. Esstinally, if you take a screen shot on your iPhone X, Xs, or 11 Pro and then pinch and zoom it down to roughly 5.4", that's what it would look like.

Rather than keep all content and U.I. the same size and show less of it, they decided to take the full 5.8" experiences and just shrink it (just like the old iPad mini vs 9.7" iPads - same content, just smaller). I think that's probably the right choice for most uses, but gives me pause personally.

I wanted to but looks smaller diagonally compared to my 6s. My 6s is 5.75" edge to edge diagonally. I want something a little larger so ordered the 12 in blue.

Thank you for explaining, I really appreciate the info. I don’t have any problems using my iPhone 8, as I said Display Zoom helps and since you can increase font size in Safari now I think I will be ok. If it doesn’t work out I can always swap for the regular 12.

Thinking of downsizing from my XS to a 12 Mini. 5.8 to 5.4 can't be all that noticeable... and I've never been one for size but over the years have been forced to upsize. I know I can't go back to a 4 size, and I hated the 5 screens cause they were way too tall and narrow. Have a 12 Pro on order but might just cancel - I won't get it day 1 anyways ordered a bit late.

I was all for going from 11 pro to 12 pro both are same weight but i would like lighter, then i thought i would get the 12 as it's lighter but then realised they are taller too, and near XR size i had before the 11 pro, so will wait for mini seeing as the camera is the same as the 12 and will be way lighter/smaller.
If it's no good may as well keep my 11 pro till next year. Not going bigger than my 11 pro.

I'm in the same situation, love the size of the 7 Plus screen, also am a bit concerned about the PWM flicker when dimming the screen (I like having the brightness below 50%), I've also held of upgrading in the hope Apple would remove the notch, but seems like that's not going to happen :(.
Anyways, I think the only think to do is to keep a cool head and wait for the review of the 12 Mini to come in before deciding on which to buy.

I've been looking at this way too much over the weekend, and I've still not fully decided. Reviews will certainly be a factor in all of this. I'm hearing 12 reviews might be in Tuesday or Wednesday this week (lifted embargo), but that could be totally wrong ;)

I should be getting my Spigen Liquid Air Armor delivered today for the Mini. I’ll show comparison photos next to my iPhone 5S and the 11 Pro Max.
