Cancelled my 12 pro order, I’ll wait impatiently for the mini !

Same here, cancelled my 12, I waited for an iphone 8 full screen for years. Now is almost here, and I know I will return the 12 once the Mini is on my hands.

So better avoid the return process and wait.

But I ordered the Spigen case for the Mini to have something until november hehe

I did professional photography and the lenses I used most were a medium and an ultra wide. Whats the point of the zoom lens? to take photos at the zoo? Usually people take selfies and have body movement control when taking photos of others. iPhones already do the Bokah effect without the telephoto lens and this was the prime reason to use a zoom lens on my cameras. Unless im missing something here, I dont see myself using the telephoto unless im trying to take a video of someone being an idiot from far away to Catch a license plate. I was thinking of getting the Pro but my heart is telling me to go Mini.

What sort of photography? 50mm is better for portraits so you don’t get the same distortion you do from getting up close with a wide angle lens. 50mm is one of if not the most common focal lengths.

the wait is killing me too! It’s the first time ever I won’t be buying the iPhone on launch day.

I don't know what all the fuss is about but the blue iPhone 12/Mini looks fantastic. It's the only colour option that really pops! But it is a shame how the Product Red colour is not that deep shade of the red like it was on the iPhone 8/XR. That would've been sweet!

Either go blue, or white. Or even mint green! Then go case-less to really show off!

I don't use phones for photography but I was under the impression that the medium lens is comparable to a 50mm on a 35mm format. If the telephoto on the phone adds better features for Apples portrait mode than its a neater feature but I'm also assuming that the tiny sensor size doesn't help with bokeh. Can someone clarify if the bokeh portrait mode is different on the 2 lens configuration than the 3 lens configuration? If it is better with the 3 lens then everyone with a girlfriend should get the PRO phones since you'll get bugged to be the instagram photographer of portraits.

Am i the only one who’s worried about the battery life based on the iPhone 12/Pro reviews out?
They seem to drop a significant SOT from the previous version especially due to 5G.

Coming from the iPhone 11 Pro, I’d be worried.

Having said that, at least I have an iPhone 12 pro arriving Friday so should keep me entertained. Will most likely Pre-Order the 12 Mini and compare/consider if it will be good enough as my daily driver vs the 12 Pro.

Will you be using 5G? According to reviews if switch 5G off you’ll get one more hour on 4G than last year.

I'm not worried. From what I've read a lot of those stories are using some non-real-world tests and especially not using Smart Data Mode which will significantly reduce the strain of 5G on the battery.

If I was planning to use 5g I’d be more concerned about battery life I suppose. For right now I intend to stay on my Shared Data plan and it excludes 5g.

My heart is set on getting the blue mini however I thought it was more of a navy color rather than bright blue so I might change my mind on that. It’s hard to tell from the photos and videos exactly what shade it is because the lighting is so different.

Yeah, i do plan on using 5G as it’s largely available in my home town. I‘ll leave it to Apple’s smart data but will keep it on.
The iPhone 12 Pro will give me a good indication till the Mini is on Pre-Order.

Well, the bokeh on an iPhone is not real bokeh, it's software generated. Which is why it sometimes doesn't look realistic or cuts out outer edge parts of the subject with blur. So I don't think it matters what size the sensor is.

The bokeh on smart phones will never beat a DSLR. A long way to go until they catch up but for the convenience it’s great.

If I have time and space... I will always bring out the DSLR.

I totally understand this. I almost ordered a 12 over the weekend but ultimately decided that it wasn’t worth bothering with the return process since I would most likely decide that it’s not what I’m looking for.

I have an 11 Pro and an 8, but I much prefer using the 8 when I’m at home. So it’s the mini for me.

I wish I could order the 12 Mini, but my iPhone is pretty much all I use for everything now. Would love the small size, but I love the camera features of the 12 PM and will have to deal with it. I’d probably do the mint green as well as it reminds me of sea foam green on Fender guitars.

Can you elaborate on why you prefer to use the 8 at home? Seems kind of contrary to my expectations (i.e. 8 is more portable = better for taking with you vs the heavier, clunkier 11P.)

Agreed, everybody keeps saying mint green but the first thing I thought was surf green

Can’t believe we have over two weeks until pre orders begin. It’s going to go by so slowly! C’mon Apple, why the staggered release? (Not being serious, just excited)

I really like the blue colour on the 12 & 12 mini 😎

That’s a fair point. When I’m at home I rarely use my 11 Pro as I can use my computer instead. However, I like to read in bed (or when laying on the couch) so I prefer to use the 8 due to the lighter weight. I also won’t accidentally drop it on my face.

Annoying...yes. But I think that is also good in a way. We get enough time to see the detailed reviews of iPhone 12. We get enough time to see the different colours from normal users on forums like these. In a couple of days there will be loads of pics posted here showing the colours in different lighting conditions. I already see many people backing out from the blue colour...I still like it. So, all this gives us good amount of time to decide or make changes to our decisions. I kinda like this wait :)

That’s valuable feedback. As phones have gotten larger, “You get used to it“ is often the de facto answer that gets trotted out in response to concerns of unwieldy size and excessive weight. But it seems like a fundamental quality of life component—ergonomics—has been completely ignored in favour of churning out these pocket-busting behemoths. So I really hope the Mini lives up to its billing in this area, even if I’m not expecting it to achieve 3G/4/5 levels of comfort.

I just want a phone that doesn't tire out my pinky finger when Im watching YouTube in bed and I run the risk of it falling on my face when I try to hit the back button in the top left corner one handed.
