I wonder how many folks are settling for the 12 or 12 Pro now, because they can't wait three weeks for the Mini or Max? These are conveniently timed out so that the return period on the 12 and 12 Pro would have passed by the time pre-order for the Mini and Max versions go live.
Me for sure!

After some long hard looks, I don't think the BLUE is for me...The white looks very sleek, I think I might jump to that. The blue will look bizarre in any cases. White will pair perfect with a black case.

Not everyone has trash eyes.. if yours are trash, ask Santa to get you some glasses.
Remember, people were watching YouTube on 3.5” screens before this phone.. no issues.
Yeah, the screen on the mini is 5.4 inches- that is only .1 inch smaller than the big iPhone 8Plus- I think the screen size is more than sufficient on the mini for Youtube and anything else. It just happens to be in a body that is no bigger than the screen itself (as opposed to the 8Plus), so it SEEMS so tiny.

That's nice. I know most places (if not all places) in the US only give a 14-day return policy on devices like this. A lot of people may find too that carriers like AT&T (in the US) limit the amount of returns you can do within a calendar year. I was told recently that AT&T only allows you one return per year.
And with a carrier like AT&T, Verizon, etc. you pay at least a $40 restocking fee for returning a device- even if it is within that 14 day period.

After seeing the blue in reviews I’ve decided to go with white. I think it’ll look great and probably show fingerprints less for those who don’t use a case. Also, with the clear case from Apple it should look better.

I just don’t like how the blue seems to look different in each review I’ve seen. So it’s not for me either.

That said, I’m excited for those getting their new devices tomorrow and I am definitely looking forward to seeing more pictures!

It's everything I ever wanted from an iPhone. I'm still using a first generation SE because of its size, so a couple more weeks or a month won't change my mind. The only thing I have to decide is the colour ! (really want to like that blue as I'm tired of the typical black or white)

Same thought process here. White definitely seems to look the classiest with the metal+glass combo. And now that white fronts are a thing of the past, I can actually consider that color in the first place.

A few other considerations I had:
  • The EU regulatory bullsh*t is now on the sides, which is still bad, but now I can have a clean white back.
  • The screws on the bottom are not color-matched, which is a problem for every color except... white.

I use my 11" iPad way way more than my 11 pro.

Lol. My iPad sits unused 99% of the time while I continue using my phone around the house to look at stuff on the internet. It's just less convenient holding a big iPad though usually.

When I got my iPad mini 5 when it was first released, I sold my XS Max and got a SE. I like the small phone / iPad combo. I now have a iPad Pro 11 and a SE, and I am patiently waiting for the mini release which will make for an even better combo. I use my iPad most of the time along with my Apple Watch series 6.

The mini looks ideal. The only unknown is pwm.
I’m pretty sure it’ll have PWM. In one of the review videos posted in this thread where the iPhone 12 is compared to the Samsung phone, you can see PWM in it. It’s easier to see on the Samsung phone than it is on the iPhone though.

It’s right around 1:32 in this video:

Forgive me but what’s the big deal about PMW? What does it do that many don’t want or like? Or what can you tell when looking at it?

I think the refresh rate. PWM stands for 'pulse width modulation' or more simply, 'turning on and off hundreds of times per second'

It's more noticeable on AMOLED displays. I remember getting migraines if using a PS Vita or staring too long at a Galaxy SIII display (such as when reading ebooks). If you put an older camera at a Galaxy SIII for example, and recorded, you'd see a similar flicker effect as one did when recording a video of an old CRT television set.

Might be the reason behind 120hz phones these days.

If I upgrade this year, I think the mini will be the only reason I do. I’ve been wanting to downsize for a while. I am a little worried about it being too drastic of a change, but the 6.1 models are just too modest and too expensive of an upgrade for me to justify buying a new iPhone. I am excited to be able to play with a mini in stores in a few weeks.

I use my iPad mini rarely. I use my iMac and iPhone at home.

That Samsung camera..... woah... I am jealous.

I think an iPhone is enough, and an iPad is not convenient to carry around.I bought an iPad 2 years ago,but didn't have a lot of time to use it,finally,i gave it as a gift to my little cousin.

Regarding the Mini’s battery life, is there any reason to doubt Apple’s published numbers? I know this sounds like a sarcastic question but I’m actually serious—are Apple’s estimates usually out to lunch, or can we take them at face value?
You can trust the Apple's values.
The problem some people have is that they don't look at HOW Apple got those values.
Then the people download some extremely demanding car game, and plays it on 100% brightness. And then they complain that the phones don't live up to Apple's numbers.

Edit:
real work comparison between 11 / 11 Pro / 12 / 12 Pro and some other models. This is a different test than what Apple is using, but in this test, 11 Pro wins and 11 gets 2nd place. But my opinion is that 12 and 12 Pro seems to have "good enough" battery, and I like that they traded battery for making the new ones thinner and lighter. Looking forward to performance tests of the Mini in a few weeks!

I think my flip-flopping is done. I'm going for the blue. That is, either I stick to my SE 1 or I get the 12 mini in blue. I really like the white back, but I'm not a fan of the lighter bezels around the screen and the white antenna lines.

This video settles it for me:
