I finally received mine today.

Looks amazing but i think it's too small coming from the iPhone SE 2020, the reduced width definitely bothers me.

I may consider going back to iPhone 12

I really think it's hard to go down in screen real estate.

Still a bit on the fence. Am basically waiting for users to chime in who are used to bigger phones (like my 8+) and see what they feel about the size of the 12 Mini's screen.

I feel I don't *have* to upgrade yet. My 8 Plus still performs fine with iOS 14 and still has 100% battery capacity. But at times I sure feel it would be nice to have a smaller daily driver phone.

I have a couple of cases for the Mini in mind. You know, just in case.
All this while I was completely sold for mini - went with wife today and as soon as she had a looked at mini, she said..its just no different than X; 1 hand usage, smaller size..was all thrown out of window.

Finally, she offered 12 as gift.. Ah well..sure, I put the mini down and picked up 12, black.. The word "GIFT"
makes super large phones suddenly fit my pockets :D🤣

But on serious note, mini is really cute, very comfortable in 1 hand and really if your usage is mostly 1 handed, its the most perfect phone.

According to specs the mini is only .12" less wide than the SE, and it should have smaller bezels so it would *seem* the screen widths would be close. Is it really that noticeable a difference?

Instant love. As soon as i picked it up it felt so comfortable. (The exact opposite happened to me with the 12 Pro)

I think after the weekend i won't even notice that the screen is smaller than the X. Just take it a bit closer to the eyes lol

Even though i was a bit worried about the additional "bulk", it seems to stay comfortable even with the Apple Leather Case.

So far so good.

I would use it for a few days. You’ll adjust quickly.. I went from a big phone to the original iPhone se. didn’t like it at first but got use to it and then loved it.. you’ll adjust.

What colours did everyone get? I’ve ordered black and blue. Cannot decide...

I’m in the exact same position.

I ordered a blue 12 Mini + Saddle Brown leather case and I ordered a black + black leather case.

From what I’ve seen, I really love the blue and the brown, as they’re both very luxurious, classy colors, but despite that, I’m leaning towards the black.

If I had gone with a normal size iPhone 12, I would definitely go blue + brown, but something about the Mini size just screams black. It’s sleek and sexy and it’s reminiscent of the old iPhone days when devices were small and I always bought them in black.

So I haven’t seen the devices in person yet, but from all the videos I’ve watched, the blue seems ‘nicer’, and yet the black still seems more fitting and more appropriate for the device. It’s a simpler, less extravagant color, but it seems more desirable to me.

Just my 2 cents.

So my mini arrived. Super comfortable to hold and I love the fact that is less wider than the previous models

I do squint a bit with it and my eye vision is good. Yes I can go zoom on it, but then I lose a lot of real estate.

Also, in these iPhones I've noticed the power button is less protruded so harder to find where it is.

I'm torn with this. I love the size, but the font size is quite small, it gets specially uncomfortable when I'm scrolling.

I'll try for a week to see if I can adapt

A think of beauty. Can't wait for my max.

Pretty excited for today. Bummer that it is a Friday though (which is typical). My UPS guy usually delivers between noon and 1pm on Monday through Thursdays, but typically 4-6pm on Fridays! :(

As mentioned before I went back and forth quite a few times with which color I wanted, but decided on blue. Saw the regular 12 white in person and while I liked it, I liked the brighter white of my 2020 SE better. I was impressed with the mint green, but decided the blue was a bit more neutral and that I might get tired of the green.

Also got my black 128GB Mini today and like most of you love it. It didn't even feel TOO tiny at first. And not TOO light either. Somehow perfect. Too light often feels cheap. This is perfect.

The one complain is about standard and zoom display mode. To me, and my eyes are ok also not perfect anymore, standard is too small and zoom mode way too big. Look at those icons. Almost for half blind people. Something in between would have been nice. One too small scaling, one too big. Hm...

And what about those fat black bezels on top and bottom of many 3rd party apps in zoom mode? Do they have to be adjusted for the Mini? Strange enough some apps work perfectly fine in zoom mode and some have fat bezels on top and bottom.

I would say the Mini could be for almost everyone, and everyone could adjust too the size. It takes some time, like when you go from X to XS Max etc. Everything in life takes time, but us human being get used to it quite quickly. Don't give up too early and give it 1-2 weeks and see what you think about it after that time. But you probably will get used to it.
But it is for no one who likes to surf much with the browser, I think it is just not enjoyable to surf the net with this small phone. Thankfully I am not one of those "always surf on the phone" people. Love it!!!!

Looked up all my iPhone purchase dates for curiosity's sake:

  • iPhone 4 32GB Black - October 27, 2010
  • iPhone 5c 32GB Blue - September 20, 2013
  • iPhone SE 128GB Space Gray - March 30, 2017
  • iPhone 12 Mini 128 GB Blue - November 13, 2020

So if the time duration calculator I'm using is correct, that looks like:

  • 1,059 days of iPhone 4 ownership.
  • 1,287 days of iPhone 5c ownership.
  • 1,324 days of iPhone SE ownership.

Hopefully the gap between the iPhone 12 Mini and my next iPhone is even larger. This will be the first time I'll have bought a flagship phone since the iPhone 4 so hopefully I can get at least four and a half to five years out of it.

The 12 mini has the same logical screen resolution as the X/XS/11Pro (which is why existing apps all already support the mini at standard zoom), but display zoom is new with iOS 14 for that resolution (X/XS/11Pro didn't have display zoom in iOS 13 and earlier), therefore app developers still have to add support for it.

If display zoom is too big on a mini, better not try it on a X/XS/11Pro. ;)

Just received my mini. Have been rocking an iPhone 11 pro max and I just love the size, lightness and sharpness of the screen. Ecstatic to have a phone that is portable again.

Granted, if you are trying to consume media on this phone, it's probably not for you. But that's what I have a desktop and iPad for anyway. So happy I switched my order from the max to the mini.

A mini phone and an iPad Pro 11” is the best of both worlds (for me).
