I’ve played with mine for a few hours now, and this is just a beautiful and special device. I know some 5s/SE 1st gen users would prefer an even smaller phone but to me this is an excellent balance of usability and visibility. I can do so much more with this phone one handed than I could with the 11 Pro. I can’t reach all four corners with my thumb without shimmying my hand up or down the length of the phone but the phone is small enough that this doesn’t feel like a problem, whereas with the heavier and longer 11 Pro that kind of move always felt precarious, made worse by the rounded edges. With the mini my palm digs in for a solid and comfortable grip.

Text is not too small for me, videos look great. I’m not worried about it being not immersive enough because the Max isn’t as immersive as an iPad which isn’t as immersive as a TV, it’s all on a spectrum and I know what I’m getting when I watch content on a phone versus a larger screen. Heck, I’m even watching The Last Jedi on PiP as I type this because why not?

I am over the moon for this phone. What an absolute triumph.

Got a notice from FedEx that my black mini 128 GB was going to be delayed until Monday, but I was able to pick it up from the distribution center. Just applied the screen protector and put it in the apple leather case. Data transferring from iPhone 7 now. I think I’m going to love it. The size is basically perfect, and the flat sides are so much nicer to hold than the soap-bar design of the 6/7/8 series.
I am very glad I upgraded to the mini. Like you and others, I think it is the perfect size (for me at least). I can mostly use it one-handed).

This size already feels normal.
It does. I wish the mini was a 4.7” screen size but, we all know that that won’t happen again. It is amazing how much difference the mini makes, even though the difference in size from the SE 2020 is not huge. It is just enough to be important and make us small phone people happy.

Yay, I'm in love with my iPhone again!

I could have waited another year, but I felt like it was my civic duty (just like with Apple Watch series 0, HomePod, AirPods, AirPods Pro) to cast my vote (purchase) for more cool stuff like this and let Tim & Co know to keep it coming.

Smaller iPhones with the latest features and internals of the big iPhones are AWESOME! Ring it from the rooftops!
Indeed, it is our duty to keep the global economy going in a time of crisis!
(I manage to think up some excuse every year as to why I need to buy new tech)

Well so far so good with my 12mini.

One negative I could not get this charger below to work with my 12mini.

It worked flawlessly with my 11pro, AirPods pro etc....!

UGH !!! My iPhone 12 Mini never showed up yesterday from UPS to the Houston, TX area and scheduled delivery is now “information unavailable”.. I will be calling Apple first thing. UPS must have lost it as it was never scanned as going back to the UPS warehouse/distribution center once it was out for delivery on Nov 13th.

So I called Apple and UPS and the best I can get is UPS will call me on Monday and Apple can submit a case to UPS on Monday. Very disappointing. Next time I will do in store pickup.

After a few hours with the Mini I can say I'm so happy! Now that they have gone back to the straight edges the phone feels secure again in your hand like the original SE. This is Important to me as I run the SE naked and plan to do the same with the Mini. My 11 Pro Max needed to be in a case, first because it was the slipperiest little devil, and second I use it for photography in places where you don't want to be dropping your phone.

The 12 Pro Max will work along side my 11 Pro Max for photography, but the Mini is my phone for everything else and I love it. It will be sad to pull the SIM card out of the SE later this evening tr tomorrow, but it must be done. I already paired my Apple Watch with the Mini, so the SE will be adopting a new role. I have a brand new original SE in the box also as I was not sure how long I would have to wait for Apple to release a true replacement for the SE. It was insurance, but it gave me piece of mind. Maybe Apple got the message when I bought the 10X, then the 11 Pro Max but continued to use my SE.

Apple never moves fast, but like others have said I hope this phone is popular enough that a Mini stays in the line up, at least every 2 years if not every generation. Right now I do feel the 12 Mini is over priced, but I didn't have much choice. I'll wait a year or 2 to see if I need to buy another for insurance and piece of mind.

Thanks Apple!!

Anyone else thinking of running their mini caseless? It’s so nice in the hand I’m wary to put a case on it, especially since I did get AC+.

I've always been going caseless (except for a short while with the 4s) and won't change that with the mini. Also never got AC+, except once with an 12.9" iPad (and it turned out to be unnecessary). I'm totally with you that the iPhones are much too nice to put a case around, it only adds unwanted bulk.

Right now I’m running caseless because I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep this or my 11 Pro. Now that I know I will I may get something for hiking and leave it caseless while at home and around town.

This size already feels normal.

So I’ve posted this is another thread but I was comparing my mini to my moms 8 plus, and all be dammed the usable screen space is virtually the same. 5.4” vs 5.5”. My entire mini fits inside the screen of the 8.

So apples smallest phone now is equal to apples LARGEST phones from just a few years ago (the 6/7/8 plus models). How bout that.

I have found the Apple Clear Cases to be very good values. My 11 Pro was in top shape when I sold it last month.

I am caseless so far on it (yeah I know, only the 2nd day), but it seems to just fit nicely in my hand without- I don't feel I am going to drop it as I did with the others in the past that had rounded edges.

In all the years I have had smart phones, have never dropped one- case or not. But I still am paranoid, and don't want scratches or anything, either. Normally I would get Otterbox Commuter cases, but I think on this little phone, that case would be too big and bulky. I am considering a cheap clear TPU case for it this time around, to not hide how it looks, to keep it slim, but to provide scratch protection and some level of drop protection just in case.

I am running caseless, but I do have AC+ just in case.
Me too. I went in to buy a case, but was convinced to get AC+ instead. I thought it would be a shame to make this mini phone less mini, especially given how light and safe it feels in the hand.

I've played around with and without the leather case.
The edges become a bit more comfortable to the hands, because they get less.. edgy ;)
But it also makes it heavier and wider and this makes it a bit harder to use one-handed. I also notice it more in my pockets. And it also somehow makes the bezels look much bigger.

So overall i prefer it without a case. But might occasionally put it on for the gym, traveling etc.

I think the other point to think about is that at this moment the main advantage is being able to type with just one hand, because reaching the top of the phone still involves grip adjustment which in a way is similar to say an iPhone 12

- One loses battery life
- Loses on readability
- Gains on weight and one hand usage

But it’s not equal at all.

The iPhone 8 Plus has notch less 5.5 inch 16:9 aspect ratio screen where as the iPhone 12 mini screen has a notched 5.4 inch 19.5 aspect ratio. They’re not comparable at all.

The screen area of the 8 plus is 83.4 cm2 and the 12 mini is 71.9cm2, the latter is considerably smaller.

Running naked with the Mini (ie. caseless). I've never liked cases and use them as a last resort. I'm keeping my Max iPhones that I use for outdoor photography in cases when they are outside. My iPads are Naked, but I do put them in a case sometimes if I take them outside or to work. I liked the original smart covers. My iPad mini lives in its smart cover and it does travel outdoors with me. I've never bought Apple Care, but I can see the logic in forgoing the case if you have it. Still I'd consider the down time unless you have another iPhone or iPad with SIM.
