Loving my Mini also! So much lighter and easier to hold one handed than my 11 Pro. Originally after setting up the phone I thought the battery was going to be an issue because it was drying fast but after doing a "settings" reset, all is well. Screen protector will "brick" the touch screen, you've been warned!

This new touch screen isn't compatible with screen protectors.
Make sure you installed the update from yesterday. Screen protectors and cases shouldn’t affect the touch screen sensitivity any more.

I'm not sure i OS update will fix issues with an aftermarket screen protector but I've been wrong before.

Yep, the issue is resolved. No more swipe issues on the Lock Screen and trying to use the number pad when on a phone call.

Yes. Its a refreshing phone and actually beautiful to look at and hold. My only issue is the high standby drain. Especially during night. Losing around 15-20% overnight. Not sure why. Did you have same issue before the setting reset?

I have the 12 mini and 12 pro and still don’t know which one to use. I love how light it is and that I can completely use the 12 mini one-handed. However, I do like the bigger screen of the 12 pro for Netflix and games. I can sort of use it one-handed and also love the back finish (frosted glass with the stainless steel border). Never been so conflicted over two different iPhone models before!

I've now had my mini for a week and have decided to return it. It was nagging at me that the mini was simply a miniaturised version of Apple's larger phones - like a model car vs the real thing. The screen elements are simply shrunken down to fit the smaller display. I booted up a couple of Lumia Windows phones I had lying around, with much smaller screens than the mini. The readability was far better. Better choice of fonts specifically to suit a smaller display for starters. For me the mini display is like those nutrition labels or instructions on food items in the supermarket, where you have to peer and engage your eyes' small-font mode. I tried, but I feel Apple should have designed the UI display specifically for this model. I've ordered an iPhone 12 to replace it.

My view is precisely the opposite. The more I use my Mini, the more the size seems natural.

I’m comparing my 12 Mini to my 11 Pro and I honestly feel the Mini’s UI seems more natural. It’s not just that it feels better in the hand; the UI actually seems more natural in that the 11 Pro UI seems artificially blown up.

I can understand people who don’t have great eyesight wanting the larger screen with larger UI elements because it’s bigger and more visible. But for those with good vision (or those who wear glasses to give them good vision), the interface on the Mini feels like a more appropriate size. It feels as it should be, whereas the 11 Pro just feels bigger for the sake of bigger.

I obviously prefer the 11 Pro for something like watching YouTube, but in terms of actually using the device day-to-day, I genuinely think the Mini’s UI is better. The level of information density feels more appropriate, as opposed to the 5.8 or 6.1 inch devices, which feel magnified and unnatural to me.

a little less than 24 hours for me with the mini but I am really enjoying it. Gonna give it a shot for a week and decide between it or the 12 pro. Both have advantages and disadvantages, very interesting choices this year

The font on the mini is just too small. The main issue is on web pages like this one; it just isn’t comfortable to read naturally without intentionally having to focus your eyes on the tiny text.

The font size for this site is the same on my iPad Pro 11” as it is on my mini. I can read both with no problem. I do wear glasses. I also don’t use Zoom or bold text etc.

If needed, you can make the font bigger and more bold.

I'm torn over whether to try getting hold of another mini to see if the gesture issues have been fully resolved when voice over is enabled, or getting an SE2 in the hopes that Apple will bring out a phone of mini to SE size in the next year or 2 that has touch ID alongside face ID. As I personally prefer the former but was prepared to tolerate the latter for improvements elsewhere.
Thought about trying the regular 12 but think it will be too big with a case on.
Also as an aside I hope the back tap setting is expanded to include more options in future, whoever it was in the mini screen issues thread who suggested using it to get round the swipe up problem I want to thank them for bringing that option to my attention, as I imagine it'll work just as well for getting round the touch ID downside of having hands that are to wet, or needing to take a glove off in the winter if I end up with an SE, my 8 doesn't support it at all as far as I'm aware, but I'd really like there to be more than a double or triple tap assignment option for stuff.

I wear glasses and the stock text size is fine for me. I have not needed to adjust for zoomed text, etc. I just unboxed and used. Loving every minute of my minute ownership.

There are many places where the font is simply miniscule. I would never buy a book printed in such a font and I doubt those who say it's fine would either. A normal reading font should be around 10-12pts - I would say on the mini it is around 7pts. I can read it, but it's not comfortable. It's why watchmakers use a monocle.

It's that static grid of icons with more space between each icon on the larger display. I'd agree with that, but I'm referring to the small font size. If you opt for a larger font in settings, it only applies to some apps and makes the whole experience messy and inconsistent.

Slightly torn here.

I was dead set on getting the Mini the moment I heard about it. The reason being I was fed up with the size and (mainly) weight of my X.

Now, comparing the Mini it side by side with my X, the difference in screen size is actually a lot bigger than I expected. 5.4” maybe isn’t the ideal compromise I was looking for. It feels like going back to an iPhone 5. I’m not sure if it’s just psychological, or if it’s the aspect ratio that makes the UI elements so small?

The mini feels so, so good to hold, but side by side with the X, content just doesn’t have that same wow-appeal. There is just no getting around it.

Suddenly the regular 12 is rather appealing. It’s more or less the same size as my X, but the display is much larger. It actually feels much lighter than my X, so I’m wondering if maybe the lower weight will be enough to feel like a step in the right direction.

People who made the switch to/from the regular 12, what’s your feedback?

I can't decide on the mini or the SE 2020 as my next phone. I've never had a big phone so this appealed to me, I've got a iPhone 8 currently, and have used the touch ID/home button for so long. I don't know if not having that button will be a problem.

This might be a dumb question, but did you try changing font size in Display & Brightness settings?

I have the 12 mini, can't send a photo on fb messenger or it freezes. Battey won't last a whole day with moderate use. Thinking i'm going to pull my sim card and put back in my 5S. Can anyone else confirm FB messenger is working on 12 as far as trying to send a photo.
