I don't know what the fuss is about the battery life. I woke at 6:45 am, took the phone off the charger. It's 5pm now and I still have 80% battery (with normal usage). This is the best battery life I've ever gotten from an iPhone (my previous phone was a 6s).

Just received my 12 Mini from TMo, which was "free" with the trade in of my X, though I did pay $50 extra for the 128GB. Would've gone 256GB but it's on backorder. Straight out of the box I put on glass protector and stuffed it into a case. Didn't even set it up yet but I love it! So easy to use one handed. I'm 99% certain I'll be switching to it from my 12 Pro. I'm a fairly light user on my phone, with the 12 Pro lasting me 2-3 days between charges, so I should have no problem with the 12 Mini.

Contemplating on whether to restore from a backup from my 12 Pro or start fresh. What is the best way to transfer the photo library over (~45GB) if I decide to start fresh and not restore? IIRC my current 12 Pro was restored all the way from iPhone 3GS with each phone upgrade.

I ordered the mini to try it out (and hopefully switch to it from a pro to save money) but I ran into two problems that are dealbreakers for me. The screen brightness on the non pro's is noticeable to me when I'm outside in bright settings. The other issue I ran into was the ram. I had a game open and saw something I wanted to snap a quick photo of so I opened the camera, took the photo, and then went back to the game and it had to reload. This doesn't happen on my pro.

I really love how light it is and the smaller size. It's like not even carrying a phone with you. Great phone! Just not for me.

I was originally a no-go because of my concerns about battery life coming from an 11pro, so I got the 12pro initially. After a few days of using the 12 pro I returned it because the square edges on the slightly larger size were incredibly uncomfortable to use one handed (I have 2 small kids so need to use 1 handed quite often). This made me begin to reconsider the mini. I typically average between 4-5 hours daily SOT (mostly between messages, social media, mail, music, & podcasts) and after reading comments on other threads, it seems like I shouldn't have any issues getting through the day, so I decided to give it a shot.

The phone was just delivered a few hours ago and all I can say is WOW!! This size combined with the form factor are absolutely perfect. Easily the most comfortable phone to handle since the 5s, which always felt a little too small. I see no difference in screen quality and there is zero sacrifice in the UI. I will obviously need to reserve judgement on battery life after a day or 2 of indexing and a week or so of real world usage, but my initial reaction of the look, feel, and function is very impressed.

Now that I've had the phone for a week, I am circling back on this and my initial impressions haven't changed at all. in fact I admire this phone more every day. I never realized how much I'd compromised on phone size over the years just to have the latest tech. It feels great having a pocketable phone again without needing to sacrifice any features. I have a corporate phone for work that's an iPhone 11 and it now feels comically large whenever I hold it.

The only thing that has changed over the past week is my concern about battery life, which is now non-existent. I have no issues getting through the day. I always throw my phone on the charger when I go to bed around midnight and unplug in the morning at 6:30-7 AM. Every night my battery has been at ~30% before putting it on the charger. In fact those numbers are slightly inflated because of the holiday week with only 1 workday and the constant playing with a new gadget. Today is probably the best typical day for my usage and I'm still on 82% @ 4:41 PM after taking it off the charger at 7 AM.

I've been upgrading every year since the iPhone 5 and I have to say this is the most impressed I've been with a new phone in several years.

I had an iPhone 8 laying around so I used T-Mobile’s current promotion to trade it in and get a 128GB mini by just paying sales tax and $50 to upgrade the storage.

I’m an XS Max user but for such minimal cost I figured I’d pick up the mini. So far really enjoying a much lighter and easier to handle iPhone. Time will tell if I’ll miss the extra screen size but I still have my Max to switch back to if I ever want to.

I had the mini for the week but returned it today for the 12. The reception on that particular mini just was not very good for some reason. I am very happy so far with the 12 though.

Just a tip...google "iphone 12 battery saving tips." I learned a lot and by the time I made the suggested changes, the battery life was actually wonderful. There are just too many things going on in the background with these phones that really are not necessary and turning them off will make the battery a champ.

How many threads are you gonna post the same thing. We get it....the device you had maybe wasn't the best for reception but most of us aren't having the same problem. You also didn't gauge to well how long you use your phone and couldn't get it to last on battery as much. User use patterns dictate battery life not the size of a battery.

Like I explained in another thread...if your phone is always in your hand and you are always looking and fiddling with things then this phone will NOT be good for you. If you are a lite user that barely uses your phone then this will be a fine device for that person that wants a smaller footprint.

Still averaging daily only 1h 45m in use time.

the mini makes you change your habit of consuming content as well.

I really stopped watching youtube videos and opted to use my ipad pro or my desktop instead.

It's a great phone. Loved the screen and the size. I'm just a 'fiddler' and when i'm away from home the battery wasn't cutting it for me. AFter returning it do i miss it? Not particularly. it's a phone and the experience wasn't at all that much different from my iphone XS.

its a bit strange that you brought an iPhone 12 mini, returned it and don’t miss it particularly, but your name is “iPhoneMini”. I’m not being arsy, just genuinely curious.

This is what confuses me. Who doesn’t have access to a charger at some point ? Seems most are purposely not charging just because. Throw it on the charger for 20 minutes.
You have two main groups of people in threads like this.

1) Powers User (people who use their phone all day long for work, play or both) and knock on the mini because it doesn’t come with its own zip code and slab of a battery.

2) People who aren’t heavy users every day but, can’t seem to be bothered with putting the phone on the charger for 20 minutes when they readily have access. I think most of them want to be able to brag about not charging, so they can rationalize purchasing the largest phone with the biggest storage.

This is incredible. All the Apple enthusiasts on the internet pined for a smaller phone for years (honestly, didn't know the SE1 was so popular until I started following iPhone posts... I can't recall seeing many in the wild) and now that there is a solid small phone that is not a budget phone, I've seen nothing but complaints.

I’m very impressed with mine and it’s a keeper.
Got an SE 2020 in April because my iP7 was faulty and I couldn’t go without a phone until iP12 arrived.
My SE needed charging twice a day to get me through a full day as I use it at work too.
Luckily for me I could charge it at work easily.

My green 12 Mini goes 1.5 days on a single charge.
Usually 40% after a full day.
It’s great for me and I love how I compact and light it is.

I bought the normal 12 at launch, but after trying for 3 weeks, couldn’t get used to the size and weight.

it didn't make me change my habit at all. I have a job and I don't know about everyone else but I can't be on my phone all the time while I'm at work. For the folks that use there device for work, play, and everything under the sun. What did you expect a smaller phone with a smaller battery to be?

I'm going to call it like I see it. Folks just need to step out of the digital world sometime. Quit believing reviewers which don't represent real world people. And the best advice is to just stop lying to yourself on how much you use your device.

Excuse me? If you had actually read my post you might have noticed that I actually praised the battery and only suggested googling battery saving tips to those who were having difficulty because those tips sure helped me.
