I originally got the 12 and was missing the size of a smaller phone and the Mini intrigued me even when it was announced. Ordered one and I am absolutely loving it. My 5S was one of my favorite phones and this feels like the taller younger sibling. I can easily reach all corners and it just fits so perfectly. Pocket, hand, bag, anywhere. I can't imagine going back to a bigger phone now.

My only issue with the Mini is that the notch is not proportional to the size. Its a full size notch which is just too big.

To ex iPhone 6, 6s ,7 ,8 ,SE2 users:
Is the narrower screen width of the Mini noticeable to your experience?

I’m going for a Mini (64gb) from my ancient iPhone 6 (16gb), my concerns are the screen width of the Mini would feels like the screen is some what ”smaller”.

I only use my phone for social media, messaging, emails and that’s it. I don’t game, not storing many photos / videos, or even music files (these I do on my 256gb iPad Pro). Is 64gb sufficient for the next 4-5 years?
I have 1,5gb left on my 16gb iPhone 6 currently.

Also considering going white this time, black is boring and I’m worry the other colors might bored me too soon.
Is the white color going to look less new sooner than the black one? Cause I’m going case-less too since the grip is going to be nicer on that boxy shape.
I ordered white because I love white iPhone all the time. Far more happier than I was with silver XS.

I always go silver for most gadgets, cars and watches. The “safest color” for daily wear and tear.
Seeing how the black anodized iPhone 5, black Apple Watch, and most mechanical watches showing chip easily, is one of the reasons I’ll avoid the black iPhone 12 Mini.

I had several phones during last 12 years with black color, and always like Apple’s white signature color.
But this year iPhone 12 and 12 Mini’s white color is more like pearl white with a cream or pink tint to it. So I’m still not sure which one to pick.

The red one is more like a dark coral, instant no for me.
The blue one is too bold, not for me either.
Now the mint green one looks nice to me, but I don’t think I would hold on to a green daily phone for the next 4-5 years without being bored too soon.

First world problem lol. But so far I think I’m gonna go white, still have several days to decide before purchasing.

I have the white model and the pink tint is accurate. You can only see it when the surrounding lighting is low, but it's definitely there. I went for it anyway as I didn't love any of the other colours and the white shows fingerprints the least.

For this collection, I only like the white and the mint green. Mint green is special, so if I were choosing one, I'd go for that. I feel like it's one of those nostalgic colors that only comes up once in a blue moon.

Mint green is refreshing and fun, and it's a bit quirky. Whereas you get white (well, variations of white) every year. So....

Happy shopping. 1st world problem. :D ;) :D

Exactly! The mint green is growing on me day by day haha.
Let see if in next few days it outgrow the white one.

I ordered white and mint green and chose to keep the mint green.
White didn’t seem white enough (a bit pinkish) and the green looked really nice.

When I initially got the regular 12, it was in the blue which I didn’t like.

My wife has the Mint Green and it looks really nice. She’s even gone from keeping her phone in a wallet case to a clear case so she can see the colour. Me ? Black, in a black case, looks a bit 2001 Monolith. On the plus side it helped me to discover that face recognition doesn’t engage if you hold the phone upside down 😮

The 12 collection blue is an Yves Klein blue. Yeah, a French artist actually named a color after himself. Whilst it looks avant garde in paintings, I thought it looked terrible on an iPhone.

Am I the only one thinking the Mini is a large phone? The first thing I thought during setup was like "this is not mini at all!" (Ex-SE2016 user)

It is significantly larger compared to SE 2016 of course. But it’s definitely small by todays standard, even compared to SE 2020.

I’m considering for a regular 12 now, seeing how the 12 Mini’s screen width is about the same with my iPhone 6 that feels small for today’s media content. I often felt hard to read smaller text on social media because everyone else using larger phones nowadays.

I tried the normal iPhone 12 because in several apps without any text size setting, text size ist very small, maybe too small, to read with joy on the Mini, even though the 12 Mini's size is predestinated for reading. But after owning the 11 6.1 for a year I just can't get used to the iPhone 12. It is smaller than the 11, still feels somehow bigger, although lighter too. After using the 12 for a day I feel like the sizes of the smaller iPhones is what Apple's iOS was made for. Icon size in normal standard display mode, app designs, gaps between icons etc. It now feels like Apple never really worked on making iOS adjusted to screens above 12 Mini, or maybe 11 Pro.

I will stay with the 12 Mini but just would wish that all apps would use text size setting, several apps I use don't have that. And I wish developers would adjust their apps for iPhone 12 Mini's zoomed display mode. I have black borders on top and bottom on 60% of the apps installed.

12 mini shows up tomorrow, and my 12 pro goes to my mom. Can’t stand this size phone either. 11 Pro was good.. but this with the 6.1” (I know not that big of difference) is enough for me to hate it. The perfect size of the 11pro is dead and I wish Apple didn’t do that. :( not happy with this years lineup honestly. If it wasn’t for the slab style design this year, I would stick with another 11 Pro and smile away.

Congrats on getting the mini. I hope it will be to your liking.

Well, just spent my first full day/night with my 12 Mini in blue. TL;DR...Great little phone that is near perfect for me so far.

This phone has pretty much exceeded my expectations in the small amount of time I have used it. Coming from the 8 Plus, I was a bit worried about screen size and typing ability with it. So far, my miss rate is less than that of my 8+. It could be though I am a bit more careful in typing with the smaller screen. But so far, so good. And reading websites and viewing videos are just fine. No complaints really. Ok, the Notch still annoys me. Especially when I have to swipe down to look at battery percentage and see if I did, in fact, set my alarm. But other than that...it's been fine. Just love how it feels in the hand as well. Again, near perfect size.

Amazed how fast FaceID is now. At times I don't even have to look at it directly and it's open before I fully raise it up to look directly at the screen. I still miss TouchID in some fashion at times (mostly while wearing a mask), but have been impressed with FaceID.

Battery life has been OK so far. Withing doing a little more work on it than I usually do, I ended the day with 57% battery left. But I'm a pretty light-medium user most times. About the charging. Granted, I have a fairly thick clear case on the back. But it really takes a bit of time to properly line it up to charge on my Samsung Qi charger. Don't know if that's because of the case, or the charging architecture of the back of the phone or what. But it's not a huge deal to me.

I believe this one's a keeper. Couldn't be much happier with it. I know it's really early to make judgements about it just after 1 day. So far though it has met and exceeded most of my expectations. Nicely done, Apple.

I reached 30% battery (I have an automation set for LPM to turn on at 30%) for the first day yesterday since I got the phone nearly a month ago.

Been keeping an eye on this thread. I’ve had a blue 12 but some some reason I’m suddenly thinking about trying out a blue mini.

Came from a XS Max because I wanted a to try out a smaller phone.

Pulled out my old 5 which I thought was too small but maybe the mini would be perfect.

My only hesitation is that I’ve already bought all these cases and screen protectors for my current phone ha

Just snag you the Spigen 2 pack on Amazon for like $12-13 and have a nice day! Lol

I had the 12 but opted for the mini once I used the full-sized for a while. It's interesting in the past the differences between different product tiers were clear. The choice between the 12 and 12 mini mirrors the choice between the M1 Macbook Pros and Macbook Airs: almost identical devices with few differences between them.

At any rate, my attitude was "get the exact same functionality in a less-bulky device? I'm sold!"

Yeah I’m surprised at how much I miss battery %. That’s my biggest complaint so far.

Just for an interesting data point, no need to buy the 20 watt charger. I only have the 5 watt charger and put my Mini on a timed 1 hour charge, once at 30% and once at 20%. Both times increased the charge by 47% in one hour. That seems pretty brisk to me. Still haven't plugged in overnight since day one.

I think instead of getting it for myself, I’ll get a 12 mini for my wife for Christmas. She has said a couple times it’s the perfect size for her.

Sprint has a “12 mini on us” offer going, so I’ll trade in her current 11.

Just have to figure out if I’m going to get her green again or go white. I want to ask her but don’t want to spoil the surprise haha
