Think instead of getting it for myself, I’ll get a 12 mini for my wife for Christmas. She has said a couple times it’s the perfect size for her.

Sprint has a “12 mini on us” offer going, so I’ll trade in her current 11.

Just have to figure out if I’m going to get her green again or go white. I want to ask her but don’t want to spoil the surprise haha
I would get green. The mint color is very nice. I like it as much as the blue I got.

Yeah I’m surprised at how much I miss battery %. That’s my biggest complaint so far.
I use the stock battery widget which shows me my phone and watch at the same time with the percentage. It requires the long widget but, I have it front and center on the widget screen and it works well. I wish Apple made the small widget to show percentage.

I would just casually mention how cool the 12 mini is this year and ask her what color she thinks is the "bestseller" in this category. Then hopefully she'll get into some schpill about how one color is better than the other, over the long term which color is more suitable, and in the end she says which color she would prefer if given the choice....,etc. Problem solved. ;) :D :D

I got a chance to play with a mini for a few hours and I have to say, its very tempting. The body felt small, nice to hold, and easy to touch all corners, but the screen felt fine to look at. it was clear vibrant and big.

I’ve bought one as part of the wife’s Christmas, she’s not a fan of large phones - to say the least. She is just a wee petite person though, so I get why she doesn’t like big phones, with her tiny wee hands - well, to me they’re tiny :D

She’s currently using my old X, and that’s as big as she’s prepared to have. So the 12 Mini being ever so slightly smaller will please her...... After she’s finished throwing things and shouting at me for going waaaaayyyyy over our agreed budget that is :D

I ordered white and mint green and chose to keep the mint green.
White didn’t seem white enough (a bit pinkish) and the green looked really nice.

When I initially got the regular 12, it was in the blue which I didn’t like.
You have switched from regular to 12 mini?

Have to say... I'm a bit scared that the next iPhone 12 mini will have Touch ID. I kind of miss it using the 12 mini.

Am I the only one thinking the Mini is a large phone? The first thing I thought during setup was like "this is not mini at all!" (Ex-SE2016 user)
Oh, I never felt this. I got mini, then send it back because of my XS and then came back to mini. Lol. But it is another point of view on this topic. Thanks for this input, never thought about it.

12 mini shows up tomorrow, and my 12 pro goes to my mom. Can’t stand this size phone either. 11 Pro was good.. but this with the 6.1” (I know not that big of difference) is enough for me to hate it. The perfect size of the 11pro is dead and I wish Apple didn’t do that. :( not happy with this years lineup honestly. If it wasn’t for the slab style design this year, I would stick with another 11 Pro and smile away.
Couldn’t agree more. Also because of design I have switched from XS to 12 mini.

I have been trying to kill my battery capacity, still at 100% since launch day.

FYI - I upgrade yearly so I don’t care about battery capacity.

Coming from 7+ then 6s as had to give up 7+ so I decided to stay small. Tested mini vs 12 and preferred it. Don’t know why but the 12 seemed too tall and the mini is just right and so light too. Delighted with purchase so far. Battery took a while to charge to 100% so now will see how long it lasts but a day is good enough for me. Not sure whether to get MagSafe.

I just got one a few days ago, “downsizing” from 11. Liking it a lot so far, very light and easy to handle, they could have called it “iPhone Air”. For people coming from 6-8, it is a very easy choice, as Mini’s screen is of almost identical width and is taller, all this in a smaller/lighter body, nice! 👍

For people coming from bigger phones, I found it helpful for myself not to compare it with iPhone 11 I was using before and go just Mini for a day or two. I am quite a heavy user, but the battery seems to be doing fine for me on iOS 14.2.1. ✌️

I got my iPhone 12 mini about 10 days ago and my feelings are mixed. On the one hand, it's a decent, lightweight phone with the newest hardware, but on the other hand, there are a lot of drawbacks. Expectations from 12 mini were hight as it's a replacement for the iPhone 8. The three main things I wanted to upgrade were a camera, a display and a better battery life. While the camera is nicer and an OLED display is an upgrade, the battery life falls behind. The battery is draining quite fast in standby mode. Doesn't matter if the low power mode is enabled or not. Moreover, the aspect ratio is instead of 16:9 19.5:9 which is very weird. Even though the phone is small, I can reach the top left neither top right corner without adjusting my hand grip.

To sum it up; the greatest concern is the battery life and display feels too narrow. Does it make sense to have mini instead of regular one if I have to readjust my hand grip anyway?

The iPhone 12 mini is still in the return time frame so I am considering to return it. If so, which iPhone to get? I was thinking about 11 Pro as the battery is beast, the camera is almost the same + telephoto and a slightly larger screen. However, size is on par with regular iPhone 12 and 11 Pro with 188g sounds bulky. iPhone 12 has a 6.1" screen, which is even bigger, but the device is lighter. The price of the iPhone 12 128GB and iPhone 11 Pro 256GB is at the same price. I believe 128GB storage is more than enough. Almost forgot to say that 5G is not a big deal for me.

Is there anybody who had mixed feelings from the iPhone 12 mini and got a different model?

If you are on IOS 14.2.1, it is the iOS version, not your phone.

This version has battery drain issues.

I believe the issue is related to the cellular modem. Turn off data and use your phone on wifi, see if you notice a battery life difference.

I'm a big guy with a large hand, XXL gloves size, and I love the Mini. I went from an iPhone 11 Pro Max to the Mini. I have been waiting for Apple to integrate the best processor and screen tech. into the smaller footprint and am extremely pleased with the Mini.

I also went from the 11 pro max to the mini. Couldn’t be happier!! Far better as a mobile device.

Battery life has already been addressed. The active display is half a millimeter narrower than your 8 (I measured it with a caliper but dimensions can be found online), so either your phone's physical width, or the aspect ratio is fooling your eyes. Yes, you cannot reach the top corners of your screen like you can with the 8. Try the reachability function to lower your screen when you cannot reach the top. Right now, I have my double back tap option set to do this. I find the on screen gesture rather awkward and easy to miss (at least left handed). The double back tap is not perfect either, a little slow and sometimes it misses too, but I'm liking it for one handed use which I do a lot.

I use triple back tap to reveal the home screen or last open app after it unlocks with FaceID, and that is also nice for one handed use.
