This is what confuses me. Who doesn’t have access to a charger at some point ? Seems most are purposely not charging just because. Throw it on the charger for 20 minutes.

This. Just speaking for myself (and my evil twin Skippy), I have a charger at home and one at the office. I charge up before I go to work. And then at times when I see the battery dropping to the high 60's/low 70's, I just put it on my Samsung charger that's on my desk. And I let it charge until I need to use the phone again.

Plus there are all sorts of portable battery chargers out there that aren't that big or obtrusive to carry around. Wouldn't surprise me if some sort of battery case comes out for the phone as well.

Right now I am at 1.5 days without charging and I still have 25% battery. I don't bother with re-charging throughout the day.

For me battery life on the 12 mini is perfectly fine, I get about the same as you. But one thing that really surprised me is how fast the 12 mini charges on a 2.1 amp charger, it’s very fast (faster than iphone SE). On the Apple 20 watt usb c charger, it’s even faster.

On days I drive (20 mile round trip), the Carplay USB charge is sufficient. On other days, I plug into a 5 watt charger for about an hour. That is enough to keep me going. I only plugged in overnight on Day 1.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like battery life should be fine for the amount of time I spend on my phone.

Mine it's on it's way! After much consideration, I chose the blue. And 128GB storage. Should also be more than enough for me for awhile.

Doing my very small part to hopefully keep a flagship-type phone this size on the market.

wanted to love it and I did... BUT, the lack of telephoto lens took the love away... returning mine and going back to 11 pro... btw. the night mode with a tripod and ultra wide lens is amazing (not so much handheld... too much blurriness)

I don't know if you realize this, but unless the phone deems the lighting condition ideal, it will use the wide lens and crop the image to give you the "zoom". Try covering the telephoto lens and move in and out of the light to see for yourself. This is why I don't miss the telephoto lens one bit "downgrading" from my 12 Pro to a 12 Mini. The phone can't do the same trickery with the ultrawide lens because, well, you can't crop to get a wider view ;)

Is the narrower screen width of the Mini noticeable to your experience?

I’m going for a Mini (64gb) from my ancient iPhone 6 (16gb), my concerns are the screen width of the Mini would feels like the screen is some what ”smaller”.

I only use my phone for social media, messaging, emails and that’s it. I don’t game, not storing many photos / videos, or even music files (these I do on my 256gb iPad Pro). Is 64gb sufficient for the next 4-5 years?
I have 1,5gb left on my 16gb iPhone 6 currently.

Also considering going white this time, black is boring and I’m worry the other colors might bored me too soon.
Is the white color going to look less new sooner than the black one? Cause I’m going case-less too since the grip is going to be nicer on that boxy shape.

Not an ex user here for quite some time but I have read that it is neglectable as it really is just one mm or two.

I think if you still use the iPhone 6 16GB than 64GB would be more than enough. But keep in mind that technology, software etc. sometimes changes, so does behavior. So I personally would go for the 50$ more expensive 128GB if you want to keep that phone for 4-5 years. For 50$ more you are on the safe side, worth it imo.

Black this time is VERY clean, I do own the black 12 Mini after owning non black phones like forever. But it changes color in lightning situation to a blueish tint. So does the white though. Sometimes it looks like a warm white, sometimes like a little pinkish or even champagne (esp the frame). For a 4-5 year used phone I would always go with a clean look, so black or white it is. If black is not your color, you have your answer. Own a violet 11 for year and was getting a little sick of the color after a few months, even though it is a light violet, nothing eye-catching, still... For a color change you can always use a skin or case.

In my opinion the narrower screen of the 12 mini is not really that noticeable compared to my Iphone SE. Compared to my iphone 8 plus however it is very noticeable.

Get the white. Apple white never disappoints.
64gb might be too small, especially if you want it for the long haul. All the other phones have 128gb as standard.

The white is going to look newer over time than black would. Consider that black is going to show fingerprints are far easier, and any micro scratches it picks up on the back glass over time.

I have an old 7 I use around the house sometimes and I definitely notice the narrower display on the mini compared to the 7. While I wouldn’t mind the mini screen to be a bit wider, I like the size of the mini in my hand so I’m not complaining.

Mini traitor. :p

I am currently getting 1.5 - 1.75 days on a single charge right now. I don’t let the battery get below 30%, if I can help it.

I switched from an X to the mini, it's a solid phone so far and feels like the old 6/SE did. I much prefer the smaller form factors in phones, but I also have a tablet for streaming things if I'm not near a tv. Hopefully they keep a small phone like this in the lineup from now on.

Nothing wrong but still there is no answer how much of free storage is on 64GB version? What is the approx. app size? I saw Garageband about 1.5GB.

You can uninstall GarageBand and reclaim that space if you don’t use it

returned the mini today, battery would not last me 8 hrs, I use alot of facetime and sling tv, etc. crap battery.

maybe I will try again when/if the apple smart battery becomes available. Back to my iphone 11 with smart battery and all is normal again.

The screen height is super noticeable. In that regard, it is less ergonomic than the others listed with an average thumb not able to reach the entire screen.

In width, not at all. I measured my 6S and Mini with a caliper - the Mini active screen width is 0.5 mm narrower than the 6S. Anyone who notices such a small difference is likely taking cues from other markers, like actual phone physical width.

Yeah you don’t have the best use-case for the mini. For me, the mini is to have on me for brief texts and to keep me connected in a very basic way through my day. Actually most other people on this forum would just use the Apple Watch and call it a day. But I want to be able to also take snapshots and do quick web searches. So the mini is ideal for all that and will hold a charge all day for that purpose.

Interestingly, my battery life on my 11 Pro with its large battery is only a very tiny bit better than that of the mini. It’s at 98% battery health but always did drain fast as compared to other people’s 11Pros for some reason.

Yeah people who Facetime constantly and watch videos will want a bigger phone. Those are "power users."

But I agree that the mini battery life isn't bad when compared to phones from just a couple of years ago.
