Yeah I’m surprised at how much I miss battery %. That’s my biggest complaint so far.
Second complaint is how many times I hit the power button when trying to bump the volume up. I’ve got about 10 unintentional screenshots in photos from hitting both at the same time. It’s minor, but an issue.

Otherwise I’m happy as a clam with muh Mini.

Still loving my Mini. And coming from the 8+, I am really not missing the extra screen size that it had. That may come up eventually, but for now the Mini's screen size is perfectly adequate for my needs. Even typing still isn't a huge chore on it. Though admittedly I haven't typed in the equivalent to War and Peace yet. Face-ID continues to amaze how quick it is. And getting used the gestures hasn't been difficult at all. Only one time was I reaching for the Home button.

I also continue to like the size of it too. I don't have to contemplate, "Gee, which pocket will I think this phone will fit in. Let me think about this some more.." I just put it the pocket of choice and I know it will fit perfectly fine. Another benefit is I can use the phone one handed to take photos. I can hold another object in one hand take a photo of it with the other without it being an awkward exercise.

Call quality is great too. Haven't had any dropped calls or other connectivity issues yet. All in all, smooth sailing so far with my 12 Mini.
If you want to take your great experience with the mini to the next level, start using Shortcuts, if you haven’t already. It is a great way to automate a lot of tasks, especially if you also have a watch.

Just hit a month with my Mini and I'm still very happy with it. I'm still bitter that Apple jacked the size of the Pro as I really wanted to keep the 12 Pro but it was just not feasible as a one-handed device, which I feel is a requirement for a mobile phone. The 11 Pro was on the line and if I hadn't been hasty and insisted on giving it up to Verizon while I was in the store getting the 12 Pro, I would have just stuck with that and returned both the Mini and the 12 Pro.

All that being said, the Mini is a solid replacement. I love the size, the color of both the back and the frame (I chose white) and the battery has been more than sufficient for my use case as I typically end my day around 65%. I hope they revert to a smaller size on the Pro line in the future but if they don't, I'll be rolling with the Mini line.
33 days for me and I have been very happy with my mini, especially using it naked out of the Apple sleeve. I like being able to see the blue and the small size of the phone feels good in the hand.

Ok, the Notch still annoys me. Especially when I have to swipe down to look at battery percentage and see if I did, in fact, set my alarm. But other than that...it's been fine.

I guess I missed this part due to I didn't use iPhone with notch so far... So basically because of notch I can't see by default battery percentage or alarm in upper right corner but I need to swype instead?

They really should think about at least shrinking the notch if not removing it permanently. It's ridiculous that user needs a workaround to see battery % or alarm
I'm sure they thought quite a lot about it already. this notch discussion goes on since the first release...
they should release an additional model with touch ID like the ipad Air.
It's not that they have that many different models apart from size. Maybe not as much as Samsung with a dozen plus different models...

I'm in the habit of levering further down with my other fingers and keeping them clear of buttons other than the one I'm operating at the time. My SE1 was actually starting to be a pain with the power button on the top and I definitely did not think it would be.

Otherwise I’m happy as a clam with muh Mini.

Agreed! This, THIS is the one for the long haul. It is a more manageable XS, which was excellent apart from the bulk.

Exactly. When I heard the 12pro was going larger, I tried it but ultimately went with 12 mini. You always like Max size phones when you are on the couch playing games or watching videos.

You love mini size phones when its in your pocket.
True - your thought is very good.

Like you really feel the weight when you take mini and XS in your hand (even 11 Pro is even more heavier). Mini feels like a feather.

But the iPhone at 5.4", seems closer to a 5.1" 5.2" in terms of perceived size, and is thus a tad small. This is most noticeable when watching most youtube videos in original format.
I definitely don’t see it this way. I’ve adapted to my Mini, in the sense that it feels similar in size to the 11 Pro I was using before, and my perception of it now is that it’s a bigger display than it felt like on day one. Even though all of the terrific portability traits (small size, light weight) are all still present.

I respect the opinion however; Everyone is different.

I'm looking for real pictures of iPhone 12 Mini in blue vs iPhone 11 Pro Black.
I would really appreciate if someone could share a few.

I tried to make it to 12S or 13, but my 6S is starting to have lightening port issues. So I just ordered a 12 mini 128gb in white. I’ll pick it up at the Apple store in the morning. Really wanted to hold onto the 6S another round, but oh well. My Apple Card cash paid for the first $200 and I had a gift card for another $100 off, so not that bad of a bite.

I’m sure I’ll be happy but will miss the convenience of the old headphone jack and Touch ID. I have at least two use cases for both, and will require adapters. But that’s progress.

looking forward to the mini. Really hate stuff in my pockets, so this should be nice.

Ugh hate to do this, but I swapped out my 12 mini for a regular 12. The mini was just a hair too small. I feel that the proportions (or maybe ratios is the right descriptor?) were a bit off being too narrow/tall. While the regular 12 is a bit big for me, it is absolutely the largest I’ll go. I even found the mini difficult to use as a phone handset. The mini did have a better reach for the thumbs, but I’ll have to adapt.

sorry apple. Thanks for taking the shot at the smaller phone.

On the other hand, the full size 12 has simply a terrific screen. Also, as it is at the max size I’m comfortable with, I’m keeping it caseless with a screen protector and maybe a clear wrap so it is not slippery. Apple Care + will take care of any issues outside of that. First caseless iPhone since my old 5C

The Mini has the same aspect ratio as your 12. If the Mini was too narrow/tall, then the 12 is the same only taller.

Correct

But the mini feels too small in that ratio. I feel the mini would had been better in a different screen H/W ratio. I think that applies to the 12 as well. But the scaling compensates for it.

YMMV, but for me, the regular 12 feels immediately more enjoyable to use.

I think Apple try to go as small as the old iPhone 5 as they could and came up with narrower form than the iPhone SE 2020. I wish they kept the same width and going as tall as the SE.

But I’ll see in two days after I got my hands on mine. But I’m pretty sure I’ll adapt to it. Even sometimes my iPhone 6 form factor is a bit too big for my likings in the past. I definitely won’t go with iPhone 12 form. So something in between the Mini and regular 12 is my preference, like the old iPhone X.

Yeah I definitely believe that I could had adapted and enjoyed the mini just fine. I have been blessed with larger hands, so the regular 12 is pretty usable (still have to shift a bit for too-left corner or top swipe) but this also made the mini feel “too small” where it made two handed typing difficult (one handed typing is great, but so slow that my typing and thinking conflict)

I still have the mini here and have not yet packed it up for its journey back to apple, so I may change my mind yet. But I don’t think that is going to happen as much as I want to prefer the smaller phone. I simply do too much on the phone these days that isn’t calling.

the final test will be taking the 12 for 5 kilometer run.

It's always about the feeling so if this feels better for you, than OK. 🙂 Enjoy it.

After a month of hesitation I've finally taken the plunge and ordered a 12 mini (black, 256GB) to replace my 1 year old XS. I normally wait at least 2 years between upgrades, but I've been longing for a smaller phone since passing my iPHone 7 to my wife. I've loved the larger screen of the XS, but the size and weight have made holding the phone one handed a real pain (literally!). I'd been umming and arring over whether or not to upgrade before Christmas and then my current phone started doing random 'mini shutdowns' (i.e screen suddenly goes blank and the loading icon circles for a few seconds before all coming back online) - it's almost as if Apple could.. read my mind.. o_O

One thing I’ve noticed and find interesting...

There’s various posts and media reports about how the 12 mini isn’t doing well etc, yet the busiest topics and most common posts on these forums and over on Reddit are regarding the mini device.
