Few questions. Does it have GPS? Does it have Wi-Fi? How's the battery life? Is 38mm vs 44mm a huge difference? Is responding to messages intuitive? How does it compare to Android Wear?
I've used both, though admittedly only used Android Wear on and off over a couple weeks, so I'll offer my measly $0.02.
No GPS, relies on the phone if that's needed though it a fair enough job tracking on it's own (walks, etc) after being used a few times while still tethered to an iPhone. Clearly not a replacement for full functioning GPS though.
I find battery life more than adequate. I've never had less than 20% remaining and that was after a full day's use, including a 5 mile hike tracked using the workout apps (I believe, might've been run keeper, can't recall) and was 4 AM when it went back on the charger. It's usually around 40-50% when I call it a day sometime around midnight, give or take. I honestly don't care about multi day battery life at this point because charging it is just part of my daily routine of plugging everything in before going to sleep. The biggest annoyance i had with both my Pebble, FitBit, and Microsoft Band was that I'd forget to plug it in after a couple days and then ultimately would end up with a dead device on my wrist. Solution to that problem? Just plug it in every night.
I find responding to Messages quit simple. You can use any number of methods (voice recording, voice dictation, canned responses, or even expressive emoji or little sketch--only other AW users for this one) but I find either a quick voice dictation the simplest. Heck, just using Siri is actually the simplest method.
As far as comparing it to Android Wear--they are similar in most ways. It really comes down to how you intend to use it and what you're preferred OS is. I personally like how the Apple Watch handles notifications better, I use Apple Pay probably more than most and it's a snap with the watch, love how my Apple Wallet cards just pop up when needed (use Starbucks and AMC quite a bit
), and I actually take more than my share of calls using the watch---very handy when I'm working around the house and my phone is in another room. I also like how navigation using Apple Maps (yes, I actually do use it) is communicated through the watch as well using vibrations--was great while i was in NYC this past weekend (do wish Google Maps offered the same functionality on the Apple Watch). And believe it or not, I found getting music onto my Apple Watch to be easier than doing the same on Android Wear.
Again, my preference tends to lean towards the Apple Watch but as mentioned, my phone OS preference tends to lean that way as well. Overall, i found Android Wear to be quite similar and if I was using and Android Phone, I'd probably enjoy it just as much.
