One of the best colors ever on a phone, was the European version of the Nokia Lumia Windows phone from a couple years ago.

Was a great looking matte grey, like jet fighter grey. Looked really cool. No chrome at all, no cheesy shiny parts anywhere on the phone.

Too bad that's not more popular.

And why on the iPhone 6 is the Space Grey back light silver, the same light silver as the White ? I think the Space Grey back should be much darker.

The space gray is darker than the silver Tig...not a huge difference but it's darker. I agree though that I'd like a much closer to black than it is. The 5s version of space gray was darker than the current models.

Kind off topic, but you have to admit that rear of the Galaxy Note 5 looks a million times better than the iPhone 6 Plus.

For years Apple was king of design. Making IMO the best looking smartphones. The iPhone 4 / 4S were great looking, and the 5 / 5S were like jewelry, just so beautiful. But the iPhone 6 took a wrong turn for Apple design. I'm shocked they released it with that nasty looking rear and protruding camera in such an ugly way.

I bet the iPhone 7 due out next will be back to artistic awesomeness.

Agree...the back of the iPhone is bland and boring, not living up many better elements. Most can agree that the front of the device is its most attractive angle (though I'll admit it's about time to shrink those bezels down a bit). I also really like how the glass has a waterfall edge that blends nicely with the curve of the metal frame. I wish all OEMs would limit their logos to the back panel.

Thankfully I don't spend any time staring at the back panel and even when I do, it's covered with a nice piece of leather. ;)

Apple has finally pushed the price point past where I am no longer willing to buy one outright (don't want to lose my grand fathered plan) no one wants or can use a 16GB phone now a days (ok a majority won't want to) over 1k for the 64GB phone because they are too cheap/greedy to build a 32GB phone....

Not impressed with the greed level. Things have to start normalizing soon, or either that or the carriers are going to have to drop their rates (ahahahah!!!!)

You can get a 64 gig iPhone 6s for the price of the old 32 gig iPhone 5s. If anything the iPhone is cheaper given the doubling of the gigs. I had a 32 gig iPhone 5 for 749$. Two years later, I bought a 64 gig 6 for the SAME price. The 64 gig iPhone 6s is still the same price.

The 6S plus, note 5 and S6 edge plus are all really to expensive. I keep trying to convince myself to get a less costly phone, but I do like to indulge when I buy a phone.

Completely agree..and I really hope Apple sees a some lackluster results with the sales of the 6s/6s+ because of it. Sadly, don't think it's going to happen, at least in great enough quantities. And I know I'm partly to blame.

Sure, but if you only needed 32 GB, you get short-changed. With their current tiers you either have to make due with less storage or step up to 64GB. Yes, it's the same price as previous 32GB models but if Apple had properly revised their storage tiers, you'd actually save $100.

Not everyone is in the USA.

If your in Europe the price has increased and we are paying more now than EVER before.

€1079 for 128gb 6S Plus is $1225
€969 for 64gb is $1100
€859 for 16gb is $1000

They are unarguably very high ...

Agreed.

IMO the nexus 5 was the perfect example of a high quality, affordable smartphone. That phone achieved iPhone quality and is still beloved today. It's was half the price of the iPhones at the time.

Given the tax breaks we've given Apple surely to God they could have given Irish consumers a little 'love' and if anything at least locked the price here for this year ...

The price isn't coming down any time soon and may increase further. Consumers have a much higher squealing point for Apple stuff so why would they cut their margins? People on here talk about the high prices but still pay up year after year.

China, where some people are supposedly really not able to afford an iPhone, has shown consumers will go to incredible lengths and sacrifice in other areas to fund one. That's only sending one message back to Cupertino. The last few years only show one trajectory and Tim Cook knows it.

Reports were that Apple prepared better inventory this launch but it's still majorly backordered already... especially China:
http://iphone-inventory.blogspot.fr/2015/09/iphone-6s-pre-order-tracker.html?m=1

Apple, as well as others know, how much we all now rely on smartphones. Heck they've been building them for us to rely on them more and more each year. And as dependency increases, there's more scope in pricing before people say enough is enough.

Anyway, if enough really if enough, at least there are better options in 2015 than in years gone by.

Edit: pre-orders link

itunes is making me pull my hair out
and not having a native file system has finally broken my back, and im ditching my 6+

the only 2 things i think i'll miss are the consistency of photos (since i'm not getting the s6/note5) & the battery life.

Otherwise, im just sick and tired of pushing pdfs, pictures app-to-app-to-app to figure out how to get it to where i want it. On android its just copy & paste, drag & drop, etc.

the last straw for me was moving a personal and somewhat sensitive document off genius scan.

No, I dont want it over the internet on a third party site. I just want to save it, and attach it as a file on email.

Both Samsung and apple phones are overpriced but least with iPhone you get very good resale value. .with android it's such a bad investment when you want to sell it a year later

It doesn't. Users on here and tech sites say it isn't noticeable and present in normal usage.
Having owned the note 5 the stuttering is noticeable. I picked up the moto x pure and also preordered the iPhone 6s to see which one I like most.

I think that must be the Euro that has pushed the prices higher because in the UK the 64GB iPhone 6 was the same price as the 32GB iPhone on release. I had both and doubled my storage for the exact same price. I'm glad we never adopted the Euro here.

I don't really understand what you are saying here? The iPhone's camera is surrounded by a small machined aluminium beveled ring making the camera protrude 1mm if that. It would have been nicer if it was flush with the back I agree, but the camera on the Samsung is a large plastic square that protrudes even more. It looks like the same camera they've had on previous editions and they still keep the exaggerated anti glare border and chrome ring. Is the chrome ring metal or plastic on this one?

I realise this is subjective but to my mind the packaging on the iPhone is still leading the way. Samsung made a huge leap forward with the S6, and no doubt the people that have owned previous models are pleased with that.

The camera is all metal on the Note 5, actually it was metal in the Note 4 too. Both designs are good in their own way, I love the unibody design on the iPhone and the curved glass front, while the thin bezels and metal rim look ultra sweet on the Note. The eyesores on both are the color of the Note and camera square, while the iPhone has the antenna lines and fairly thick bezels.

Yeah it makes it generally very poor for Ireland with a weak euro in general, because unlike a lot of euro zone countries who share borders, pretty much all things coming into Ireland are still based on our nearest neighbours, the UK.

So often Ireland ends up paying more than like of Germany, Italy, Spain & France for same item despite sharing same currency because our stuff has come the way of the UK first meaning were doubly impacted by a weaker euro and a strong Pound.

Then factor in our higher VAT at 23% and we're fecked.

Nothing is likely to change that soon unfortunately.

Isn't there any european online shops where you can find better prices?

Sadly not really. The way Apple have fixed pricing for third party retailers to conform with their own Apple Store pricing means online stores are pretty much the same.

The only way to get it cheaper would be to wait till release and buy someone's unwanted carrier upgrade and save a bit that way ...
