I wonder what they did to chip the screen protector. The only thing I can think of is for fingerprints and glair. I will wait and see after a month or so if I think I need it for the glair. They are not expensive.

I would think rings or other jewelry...

I wear a pretty big college ring on my right ring finger with a stone set in the middle.

I keep a microfiber cloth in my door cubby. Once a week I clean off finger prints and/or dust off the screen.

Eh, Tesla doesn't recommend you use one, because they can screw with touch recognition. I have one and am not sure if it is worthwhile the edges are already chipped from me hitting it with my phone when I am careless on putting it on the chargepad. I didn't have one on my other 3 and never had any problems. I really got one for the rear screen for my kids with their flaily arms and legs.
The underlying capacitive touch tech is the same as a phone. I have a belkin glass protector on my phone and there are no issues. I didn’t expect any issues with a screen protector on the Tesla touch screen either.

I know, I was just giving fair warning that Tesla does point out they punt warranty claims if a screen protector is installed.

Somehow managed to shoehorn all my demo kit into my i3 earlier. Then my three hour journey took five. Some broken down cars and roadworks.

Fortunately my car is on charge at the hotel so I can leave with a full tank in the morning rather than have to go look for a petrol station.

I did have to wait 10 minutes to get onto a charger at the services as Beaconsfield gets busy. Gave me a chance to talk to the other EV owners about their cars. Am I the only one who does that?

I watch Netflix, Disney+ or Hulu.

I'm in the NYC Metro area, I spend all my time interacting with the world lol. No need to do it at a supercharger. I also don't SC enough to have a pattern. I just did it the couple times I've charged.
I’m in the country. I see more birds than people. Just the way I like it.

I asked a guy with an Ioniq 5 what he thought of it. His review. It’s got a terrible turning circle. Kind of funny as mine has one of the best. I guess it is specific to his drive or some other pattern.

If the opportunity arises, I do, but it really depends, on my recent road trip I spent most of the time at the stop in the restaurant.
The local Costco opened a 10 charger EA a few months ago, and since I still have free 30 min charging with EA I’ve done that a couple times, and shopping at Costco and be back at a your car within 30 min doesn’t leave much time for small talk ;)
So it really depends…

Interesting, must be tight streets I suppose which I know are common over there, no issues like that with my Ioniq 5 here.
A few years back I had a Volvo XC90 as a rental car in Germany, there were a couple streets I couldn’t get through ;)

That’s the thing. People who are waiting for charging to get even faster don’t realise. By the time you take a comfort break and order a coffee it’s sort of done. Especially if grabbing food as well.
A 5 minute charge will just mean cars waiting for their owners to come back to disconnect.

Unless you have an EV with a 250kWh battery for that 500+ mile range ;)

I have a matte screen protector on my Tesla screen and have had no problems.

I have accidentally hit it with my iPhone and chipped the bottom edge. I hope it’s just the screen protector, but I’m not taking it off till I get a new one. If my iPhone was in a case, it would’ve been fine but that metal edge is not good when it hits up against glass.

I could be wrong, but I believe the screen is flush with the lip around the screen, so if you were able to chip anything, it would be the screen protector...

To me, I have a protector for this reason. Accidents happen, that screen is close enough to $2k that I'm not willing to take the chance.

People will have to stay by the car and then leave.
Reminds me of something.

I hope you’re right. I felt a crunch when my phone hit the screen. I put a screen protector on my iPad so it seemed obvious to have one on a much more expensive touchscreen

I like when I get the chance to talk with other EV owners out in the wild. It happened on my very first stop at a Supercharger on my first road trip. A woman asked if my car was the "new" Model 3 Highland and we wound up talking for a while. I got the same treatment a couple more times that trip. I think the most rewarding time was when I helped a fellow Tesla newbie with how to deal with the magic dock at the charger. As luck would have it, I learned about it on YouTube the previous week.

Here in Australia, where EV infrastructure is negligible, my personal choice would be a hybrid. In fact, Toyota recently came out with some interesting comments on June 11th:

Toyota makes startling comments about EVs
Not sure that rings true tbh. A vast amount of electricity is used to produce fuel. It’s also better to make more efficient power plants than efficient engines. I think Toyota have lost a vast amount of market share by being slow to adopt BEVs.
That said in some parts of the world Hybrids will make more sense. Australia being one. But for me I would never buy a hybrid.
