But the OnePlus 6 runs veeeeery close to stock Android and is the fastest Android device in the market.I'll just leave this here. MKBHD, one of the biggest Android guys it there.

I respect your post. Im an Android user and I prefer it for its strengths just like some people prefer iPhones for their strengths.

Nothing wrong with Pure android at all, but some people prefer skinned phones that add more features a bit like a custom ROM. The biggest issue with Pure android atm is the Pixel hardware is not that great.
Right. Lol.

But the Pixel hardware isn't bad though. It's just QC issues that hold it back. I had the Pixel OG and it had good hardware. Only problem was the battery the refurb device had was awful and the seller offered a refund to me.

Who says Google won't have a 6gb RAM version though? I cannot trust OnePlus because they had a bootloader issue day 1 with the OP6 and are from a somewhat sketchy background.
I am excited about potential Android One devices since you can get 6gb RAM from the Nokia devices on the market possibly. I am also intrigued with the Blackberry Key Two as well, even though it's not 100% stock. It doesn't mean I will get the Blackberry.
It seems like I will get the iPhone X 2017 on clearance or the iPhone 6.1" model day 1.
Just got my email from the Samsung Insight Program for 50% off a 128gb Note 9. Still deciding if I want to do it as I will have to give up my daily driver my iPhone X for 12 months. Decisions decisions.

I’m sure you will be happy with whichever device you decide to finally land on.
Wish was you I would trade in my iPhone 8 Plus quick ....Perhaps port your # to Google Voice then put the SIM in the Note 9 and WIFI tether on the iPhone. That way you can call/SMS/MMS with Hangouts/Dialer with the same # on both phones.
I have the Note 9. I like it. I think. I came from the iPhone 7. The amount of choice with everything stresses me the **** out. And there are so many phones to compare too that you never really feel assured in your buying decision.
And I miss the privacy of Apple. I could use their services and not worry as much about my privacy.
Overall thoughts in the form of unorganized spew:
But the hardware is phenomenal. Speakers are great, screen is amazing (except for the curve), phone is speedy and not slow, the mics do a really good job with video recording, having a file system is cool. changing default apps is cool. the pen is actually awesome and I love it. The 3.5mm is overrated - sure it's nice, but going straight out to USB is better quality. I haven't used my Airpods and don't really miss them (granted I was having issues with mine). Bixby doesn't work like at all. I miss the volume ringer switch. Always on display means I'm constantly looking at my screen on my desk. Raise to wake is a great feature on iOS and it's not here for some reason. Apps are okay, but Spotify still sucks on Android. Split screen is cool for youtubing while redditing. Apollo is hands down the best reddit app for any platform period. The camera is really nice, but I have some concerns about some glare issues. Battery is great, but I'm not getting more than a day (that's OK). Samsung pay is awesome, but it's app could use some work. There needs to be a better way of summoning the app (Hey samsung, that hardware button would work great...). Having a fingerprint reader, face unlock and iris scanner I use the fingerprint more. It just makes more sense as my finger is on the phone when I grab it.
I'm kind of itching to see what Apple releases with the new iPhone, and can't wait to see what Apple does with iOS 13.
/end spew of unorganized thoughts.

IMO the screen on the Pixel 2 XL isn't great, it also has a very dated design with those big bezels. The front facing speakers don't sound nearly as good as the iPhone x or S9/Note9. Thats just a few things off the top of my head. Then you have the Pixel 3 XL with a notch the size of the titanic, Google just cant get it right imo. Apple are the only ones to pull off the notch design well as they bend the screen back on itself at the bottom of the display giving very small bezels on bottom and sides. But the Pixel hardware isn't bad though. It's just QC issues that hold it back. I had the Pixel OG and it had good hardware. Only problem was the battery the refurb device had was awful and the seller offered a refund to me.

Kinda surprised to hear this from this guy. He's always been mostly iOS. I think this video really speaks to the complete package the Note 9 is.
Why would you have to give up your iPhone?
Part of the Samsung Insights Program. I had to do it for 6 months when they gave me a free Galaxy S7.

Is it a requisite of the program?
One of the earlier emails stated that you must use the Note as your 'primary device' for 12 months.. which is likely unenforceable.. I believe in one of the follow up emails it stated that you must use it at least once a month for 12 months. And, in the actual pdf user agreement there is nothing about how often you use or don't use the device. I plan to keep my iPhone X and swap the sim back and forth.. this year will be my trial with a Samsung device, and since I can likely sell the Note for what I paid for it next year the expenditure for the trial will be next to zero, unless I buy a fitbit or galaxy watch...

Could be as simple as sending IMEI use data back to Samsung servers? I don't there's a precise way to know if it's a main device because everybody's use case is different, but I can see where they would know if you were using the phone consistently. How do they know if you’re using it as your primary phone?
