But I have justified everything.
How many more times can I say that the tech is out there but Apple just aren’t using it. The proof is there on the shelves to buy!

You have come back with weak pushback like ‘it’s nowhere near as secure’..so what? You think that’s valid? It’s still secure! Do you really think Joe Bloggs on the streets cares that his iPhone can’t be hacked by the NSA? As long as it’s secure enough that someone can’t find it on the street or in a bar and get access to it..thats all that matters.
You haven’t justified anything. You are arguing preference and worse than that you don’t even understand Apple as a company.

when has apple ever been a company to release something just because others have it? They always impliment features when they are more ready.

I owned other phones with face unlock and they literally could be unlocked with a picture of my face. That’s a joke not a feature.

i do agree that the pro should have gotten 120hz this year but it’s far from a deal breaker.

I criticize Apple plenty. But I have little time for people who complain about boring updates on mature products. For some reason this year 120Hz refresh rate is the thing that iPhone must have or it’s a boring update. Though if someone was given a phone with 120Hz refresh rate they probably wouldn’t even notice it. Is it really like a retina screen OR HD TV where the minute you see one you can’t go back to anything else?
It does matter..why do you think there was so much fuss about the new LG TVs with HDMI 2.1 possibly not being about to do 120hz with the new consoles? Because it matters. It is a big difference and people care about it

I would rather have had 120hz, smaller bezels and a smaller notch over camera upgrades, 5G, and thinner chassis. While I understand the notch, to a point, I don’t understand the bezels. I guess it relates to the curved chassis. But either way, I’m well sick of them every time I look at my friends’ bezel-less displays.

I agree with your rant a bit, OP. I don’t care too much about camera improvements, glad they’re there, glad they make folks happy, but it’s a mobile communication device. It’s not a DSLR.

The 12 phones are all thinner than previous models and have 5G, or was that not what you meant? The bezels serve a purpose in that you can actually hold the screen rather than just the side of the phone, or you start getting ghost touches etc. Not everyone uses a case. They could easily get rid of them, but there’s a reason they’re still there.

It’s closer to a DSLR every year of improvements, I’m a printed photographer, so not just spouting rubbish. You’d be amazed at how much gets used shot on iPhone in magazines and books these days. And with a larger sensor and sensor shift as well as better computational enhancements and improved raw access, it’s only going to improve even more.

This is exactly the answer I expected from this forum. Underlines my point perfectly about making excuses for them. Thank you.

The camera always gets top billing because there's so much room for improvement. Not so much for the rest of the phone. Has anyone noticed that they NEVER do anything about the white elephant in the room - Call Quality?
Or their flickering OLED screens that cripple some people? Or their connectivity issues? Or the Globally maligned Notch?

Nope - they pretend that those issues don't exist and give us little camera improvements. Truly they've lost the plot
I’m one of the sufferers of their pwm flicker. In the 11 Pro model they did change something so I was finally able to use their OLED model. Let’s just hope they didn’t make a change that puts me back to being unable to use their displays again.

Call quality was improved on my 11 Pro and even my SE2 over the iPhones I had previously. I’m hoping going to Qualcomm modems brings call quality up to par with that on my Samsung s20. I’m a little concerned about their proprietary antenna design. I hope it works well.

They definitely tweak more things than meet the eye every year. But yeah, waiting for some improvements can be frustrating because Apple does move at a glacial pace compared to Android manufacturers.

You can not like it if you wish, but it is a well established practice of Apple at this point so calling it excuses is lame.

The cameras look great. But how many people will upgrade to take photos of their apartments and back yards as much of the western world heads into ‘lockdown: the sequel’? Roll on 2021...

save the $500 and buy a real camera... there are man small cameras in in the $500 range that will blow any iPhone Pro camera out of the water by a long shot.... of course, that's assuming one doesn't mind the extra bulk and inconvenience of carrying an extra camera on a daily basis... also. one has to really want top quality photos to be willing to carry a real camera around. (then again, if anyone's serious about photos, he/she probably be happy with just iPhone 's built-in cameras to being with)???
Unfortunately, younger people don't care and don't know about photography with a real camera as in DSLR. Being told so often and I admit, so brilliantly, that there's no difference between a phone camera and a DSLR, they go for an iPhone and I can understand. But one could tell that taking a wonderful picture is not the same as indulging in photography. But maybe the thing now is 'let's take a picture" and that's and that's all. But once you put you hand on a true camera being Nikon, Canon, Sony or Olympus, now you know the difference. I'm just very annoyed at the fact that many reviewers and commentators insist on saying taking a picture with a phone is the same as using a camera. Compare a photo taken with an iPone 12 and one taken with a 2020 entry level Nikon D3550 or even with an old bastard as a 2008 Nikon D90 and your eyes will tell you the difference in a nano second. Now subject close.

yeah, you’re right, COVID stops kids from taking their first steps or growing changing at all.
And COVID has definitely completely eliminated social media posts. I hardly notice them at all any more.

Many have said, this, but since the introduction of 4G and the improvement of camera technology to the 6S/7 level, all smartphone improvements have been incremental. Basically around the introduction of the 6S/7, app usefulness exploded dramatically (think of apps like Uber), but hasn’t taken a huge leap since. Ultimately for further advancement for smartphones you need some other kind of technology leap forward that allows for brand new use cases for the phone. Currently I’m not seeing a lot of that across the industry

Saying that it’s bad that Apple waits until a technology works well, instead of just implementing it to keep up with Samsung is certainly... a take.

I’m happy to complain when I think there’s something to complain about, but I’m happy with what Apple have done. Plus the fact that there’s no major price increase on the Pro models, they could have done so easily. Everyone also got the new iOS which is great, widgets and things are still new but over time these things will get better and better.

I’d recommend a Google Pixel for you then... stock Android that’s actually very close to iOS, no notch (hole punch), 120hz screen, 3 years of updates but less secure and no resale value etc. But everything has its pros and cons.
I do like the Pixel actually .

You say this like the technology is new and only came out months ago. Again missing the point. A lot of this WORKING technology has been around for 2+ years now, yet Apple still ignores it.

You literally only said get rid of the notch and have 120hz screen. Neither of those things are exactly wow features either, it’s just that the most improved features don’t deal with your needs... who cares

lol this thread is pointless if you aren’t even going to engage with what I said.
OP just wants attention honestly. They don't care to hear any opinions beyond their own.

It’s no different than a new car each year. Incremental changes, if any, until a major change every 5 years or so. Upgrade or not, it’s the decision of each individual whether it’s worth it or not.

Yep agreed.

I'll stick with my DSLR and soon to be Mirrorless.

Better photos are great, who doesn't want an improved picture on the go? but Apple trying to pretend their tiny little camera sensors are "pro" is laughable.
  • Sensor Size: 1/2.55″ (Wide), 1/3.6″ (Ultra-Wide and Telephoto) 😂

You said earlier in the thread you like iOS better despite the fact that it uses “inferior” hardware. How do you think that happens? Magic?

Because , as expected on this forum, all the fan boys refuse to see the facts of what is right there on the high street in front of them. I am not making up the fact that Samsung and Google managed to implement all these features into their devices whilst still keeping brilliant camera capabilities.

But people on here just want to use Apples amazing cameras as an excuse for excluding everything else that brings a smartphone into 2020.

Correct, I need attention from anonymous people on an Internet forum to feel good. Well done
Good that we agree. Your combative and aggressive replies showcase your need for stirring up drama and attention.

Err what?
I simply prefer IOS for its simplicity. That is all. I don’t care much for Android and it’s endless customisation

You haven’t presented any facts. Just preference.
