Who will be keeping their iPhone 12 series this year?

I had it in my mind that I would pay enough payments on my Apple financing that I’d get the 13 but I’ve not been doing that.. I’m actually leaning towards keeping my 12 and maybe looking at getting an iPad… I don’t know. I like that I can actually get decent use out of my iPhone and the iPad would render the iPhone less used.

I’ve a netbook running Linux for web browsing, I know for sure if I got an iPad and used that for most apps it would mean I’d be disappointed when having to use the same apps on the phone lol.

I'm done with yearly upgrades. I like not wasting money each year on pretty much the same product with minor changes. There are plenty of other luxuries I'd rather spend my money on than something that will be obsolete in 5 years after Apple stops supporting them.

I was updating my mom's iPhone 8 Plus and it can pretty much do the same crap my iPhone 12 Pro can do lol

I guess I am just getting older and having the latest and greatest isn't as important to me anymore. I'm keeping my current iPhone, Watch, iPad, and MacBook until the wheels fall off lol

The turning point for me was when iPhones went from costing around £619 to £999. I decided I’d no longer justify the latest and greatest and would just upgrade to a mid tier device every couple of years. The incremental changes are so slight and there’s better things I’d rather spend my money on. My iPhone 12 still feels like a brand new device so what’s the point? :)

My 12 Pro still feels new. And I started carrying it naked and love it even more. I'm good for a while.

I won't be, isn't any reason to. I went from a 7 to a X to the 12. We'll see what Apple has out after this one is paid off.

Till iPhone X, i was on yearly update to iPhones, beyond X, I now easily spend 2 to 2.5 years before upgrading; So i guess, i will now upgrade only in Sept 2022, and i hope there may be some good differences between my current iPhone 12 and the next year's model..whatever the name is..

In all honestly, nothing much gets changed now a days on these phones. Few bumps here and there, incremental upgrades to camera and so on..

I also hope that camera sensor shift will become part of the NON PRO series by next year..

Right on. It use to be that there were significant advancements in cell phone tech each year that made upgrading to a new model somewhat a no-brainer for a lot of people. Those times are long gone, in my opinion. Cell phones have matured and I truly believe we've hit a point in the cell phone landscape where we now have phones that 90% of people will never fully utilize to their full capabilities.

I think yearly upgrades are a waste of money at this point unless you're financially well off and have money to burn. Otherwise, there just isn't a need for it.

We need another major leap forward in tech to advance cell phones any further. I don't know what that is but I don't think it'll be any time soon. There certainly isn't anything coming that is a next level leap forward. Most people could easily run their phones till the wheels come off and not skip a beat.

I was going to get one thinking it had ProMotion but alas it did not. I'm thinking about the 13 PM this year if it has Pro Motion + substantial upgrades to the camera but otherwise this could be another skip year for me.

I agree, phones right now are so good that a 12 series will be relevant and highly capable even 4 years from now if not longer.

Easily. My wife is on an 11 Pro and has no desire to upgrade any time soon. She's a power user and works off of her phone all day. I am still on my much loved iPhone 6s and although the battery has degraded and my camera isn't up to today's standards I can pretty much do everything my wife does on her 11 Pro as far as emails, texting, calling, surfing, as well as most apps.

Anyone on an 11 and 12 won't see much gains swapping to the 12s/13 and could easily go another 4 years. These phones today are way more phone than most people ever use or need.

Yea I have an 11 pro max and while I could definitely get another year or two out of it but I most likely will upgrade this year. I am on the fence about it as the moment though and will make a final decision after I see what the new iphone offers. If the this year's phone is only slight upgrades, then I will just pick up a iphone 12 pro max which will be a bit cheaper. Or I might just keep the 11 pro max if I am really underwhelmed by this year's phone. I will say watching the Keynote will definitely get me on the hype train though LOL.

Handing down my 12 Pro pacific blue and just ordered 12 Pro Max pacific blue tonight. Zero interest in the 13. That massive camera bump on the 13 looks absolutely ridiculous. Reading there will be a shortage among the 13 any ways. With how scalpers are now a days and bots. I will sit this one out. Have at it! Btw, as you can tell. I LOVE the pacific blue and think it looks stunning!

Since I’m going to keep my iPhone I think I will treat my phone to a clear case for its anniversary. It will likely be my last case too before I get the iPhone 14 or whatever they call it.

I will one day return to android I’m sure but I’m happy with my phone and iOS right now.

Yea the iphone 14 rumors sound really good as well. Though I heavily leaning on upgrading this year from my 11 pro max just for 5G and 120 HZ refresh screens and touch ID (hopefully). Those three things would have me set for a while in terms of phone upgrades.

I’m on the lookout for a clear case. Any recommendations?

Same here! I was thinking of the Otterbox clear with mag safe.

Just be mindful that clear cases do go yellow after a period of time. They don't stay crystal clear for long. I have tried multiple brands thru the years and they all have the same issues. If you get one just know that it'll likely need replacing before you're probably ready to do so.

I had a change of heart. Went with Apple silicone Sunflower. Should pop nicely with the pacific blue camera portion at least.
