Who will be keeping their iPhone 12 series this year?

I returned, exchanged and tried out virtually all the different sizes and colors of the 12-series since launch—more than one person probably should. Heh. All of that to end up buying a Pacific Blue 12 Pro today. No regrets. Definitely skipping 2021’s models. Will be my first time skipping a generation. Definitely want to stop the annual upgrades.

I’m on the fence. My 12PM is the best IPhone I’ve used. The size and battery are perfect. Sometimes I think I want the regular 12pro size but when I use my wife’s phone, I always feel like it’s too small lol. If the battery on the 12pro was as good as the 12PM, it would be a tougher decision. Unless they release a matte black version or another feature that intrigued me, I’m keeping my 12PM. If they battery starts to degrade, I will just get it replace at the Apple store.

My iPad Pro is a different story. I have the 12.9 3rd gen but it’s time for an upgrade. Need the WiFi/cellular version this time around.

The absolute and absolute only way I’m upgrading my 12 Pro Max, is if the Rose Gold color option come back. Rose Gold is my favorite color and I was so sad Apple didn’t bring it out with the 8 and X.
This is the reason I can’t say I won’t trade my 12 Pro max. I’m ridiculous about colors. I have certain colors I’m really set on. If Apple blunders into creating one, I’m in.

Like I already had a lovely green iPhone mini and then Apple released the purple iPhones and I made such a fuss over them my family got me one for Mother’s Day. That phone stays with me until it doesn’t work anymore. It is my dream phone. Lol yes because it’s exactly the shade of purple I have wanted Apple to make.

I really love the color of my green mini but I’m already set to trade it for a 13 mini next spring. Just because I’m a fanatic for minis and if 13 is going to be the last mini I want to have one. If a new shade of purple is an option I may go for another one.

I have a gold 12 Pro Max. It’s a work horse and a nice color that I very much appreciate. I’m neither excited about the phone and its color overall nor disappointed. If Apple does something really exciting with the pro colors, it’s getting traded. If not, it stays. I’m that shallow.

The monkey wrench in the plan is that I really am fond of my green mini. It’s possible I may trade the gold pro Max in for the 13 mini. Financially that makes zero sense. But I do what I want with these phones because I feel like it. I’m smart about my investments and fiscally responsible. But this is amusement to me. It’s my hobby. It would greatly amuse me to have 3 minis. The two minis I have are adorable and make me smile when I’m having a rough day.

I’ll still have my S21 Ultra as my big “power user” phone regardless of what I decide about the 12 Pro Max.

Launch day 12 Pro Max had a few issues (green tint, battery degradation recently) but I'm loving my replacement unit and am really on the fence about upgrading this year. It would be an additional month's payment of ~$67 to be eligible for an upgrade through iUP+ tax of around $130 + $50 for a new silicone case for a new phone that might have 120 Hz (not worth it), new 5G modem (I don't use 5G as it is anyway), and slightly upgraded cameras.

If I get wowed I might upgrade. The rumored features are just not that exciting to me
My green 12 mini and 12 pro max have the green tint but my purple mini doesn’t. Was that just luck of the draw or did Apple fix the issue later in the year?

Ever since the 6 plus. I upgraded every year besides the iPhone 11 Pro Max and that was due to literally every house hold appliance not working so due to financial restraints we could not upgrade that year.

As much as we want to upgrade this year, we are 75% sure we are going to skip this year even with Jump on Demand. We already brought 2 new M1 iMacs and 2 new M1 iPads. We kinda went over our Apple budget for the year already.

They would really have to wow me to get me to upgrade unless they come out with a Rose Gold color that would be an instant upgrade for me.

I wish they would’ve made a purple 12 Pro Max, I’d get it in a heartbeat!! In love with the purple mini! I have the gold 12PM as well.

I love Rose Gold so much, I kept both my 6S+ and 7+. I will not part with those phones because of the color. I Rose Gold Pro Max would be so beautiful.

You … scare me.

I’m a mini owner and fan, a big fan, but your dedication to have your family commit to getting you one for Mother’s Day, yeah … I’m scared. See you on 13 mini launch day :D

Lol my family is thrilled because all they ever have to do for gift giving holidays and celebrations is just get me something cellphone related, easy and it’s done! This year everyone was thrilled the purple iPhone release came right before Mother’s Day. It was simply fated. 🤣

Otherwise, I’m becoming a bit tricky to shop for, because at 55, I’m actually starting to go through the house and garage to give away my stuff in order to downsize.

I admit I was kind of scary because I’d practically jump up and down every time I saw a purple iPhone in ads. Alternated with my berating Apple for releasing this color so late, after my other phones were purchased.

Which is why, though I’ll certainly be here to enjoy launch day, I’m probably not going to be part of preordering. Unless they’re including a color I’m totally crazy about on launch day.

My actual target date for next iPhone acquisition is next Mother’s Day. But I won’t rule out putting one on the Christmas wish list.

I upgrade every two years. I had a 11 Pro Max and planned to get the 13 Pro Max, but Verizon is offering a $700 trade in deal towards the iPhone 12 until tomorrow, so I took advantage of that to upgrade my wife from her iPhone X to a iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and this morning I decided to also upgrade my 11 Pro Max to a 12 Pro Max. $700 trade-in is a lot better than I'll get for an upgrade to the 13, which seems to be mostly an incremental upgrade with nothing overly compelling for me. I even paid an extra $200 up front for my 12 Pro Max today, dropping my monthly payment to $663/mon. My wife's will be about $10/mon.

Only thing that’ll make me upgrade is if there’s a space black or a darker graphite.

May I ask, what configurarions did you try?

Holy crap unless you’re loaded save your money lol

@StaceyMJ86 I have some good news for you today. You may have to upgrade this year. New rose gold!!!

Yayyyyyy!!!! I just may have to upgrade this year. Hopefully it favors Rose Gold more and if so, I will immediately be upgrading. I’ll even trade in my 12 Pro Max.

Verizon’s monthly device payments are too high for me, hence why I paid outright at Apple.

Verizon's monthly device payments are list price with 0% interest. I got a $700 trade allowance for my 11 Pro Max. My wife got a $700 trade allowance for her even older X.

I'll pay less than $20/mon for both phones (I paid an extra $200 down on my new phone to lower payment a little)

Yeah I know that about the 0% interest. I will say their no money down is better than T-Mobile. Majority of the time I had to put down $500 to upgrade even when I traded in. It made my device payments hover around $20 but who want to put $500 down, when they plan to upgrade yearly? I had paid more than half for the phone by the time September rolled around again. That’s one of the reasons why I switched to Verizon.

Pretty sure I really don’t understand what your issue is. You can pay in full, or get free financing with or without a down payment. In the end it all costs the same. I bought one of my phones though VZ with the promo offer and the other thru Apple with the same VZ promo. Buying direct from Apple would have been almost $200 more for me, whether I paid in full or used their free financing.

IDK: everyone budget differently I suppose. I could have just paid in full after the promo/trade allowance, but the small monthly payments are just noise and I’d rather keep my discretionary money balance that much higher.

I generally upgrade every two years, not annually. There’s no point for me doing the latter.

I just purchased an iPhone 12 with AT&T’s $700 trade in deal, so I have to keep the phone and not upgrade to the 12s/13, but I’m ultimately holding out for a Pro model with: (1) promotion display with an always on screen, (2) under the screen Touch ID, (3) serious camera upgrades, and (4) no notch or a hole punch notch. That’s my wishlist for the ideal iPhone, so I’ll be waiting to make my next purchase when these features arrive.

I was comparing Verizon to T-Mobile basically saying I like how with Verizon you don’t have to put down a payment where with T-Mobile you have to. Also I always put down $250-$300 to have smaller device payments.
