I think the most ridiculous thing is Rolex replicating their classic designs under their more "affordable" brand, Tudor. I personally wouldn't wear a cheaply made $50 clone just because it's emulating a known brand name. I still care about quality and less about showing off something I know isn't authentic in the first place. Replacing the logo with a different one is just as bad as going all out and actually cloning the entire thing to the highest affordable standards.
I own one homage but it's of a high quality and emulates a very rare watch, the Rolex 5517 Milsub. Would I buy a £50 poor quality version? No, because I doubt I would get much enjoyment out of it. I certainly would never buy a fake that was designed to fool somebody with counterfeit branding. I don't agree replacing a logo is just as bad as faking an entire design though. I know it may be a fine line, but i'll go with the watch community in regard to homages.

Tudor I have no problem with as they have their own design features and a rich history similar to their sister company. It's affordable quality while still maintaining a respectable brand IMO.

Agreed. I'm with @The-Real-Deal82 here. Tudor traditionally had their own design and a very rich history, and they are not strictly replicas of Rolex, though sometimes they did have similar movements.

While I'm not all that crazy on their recent models - but then, I don't much care for the current fashion for massive, macho watches - some of the classic, elegant understated Tudors from the 50s are stunning and I'd happily sport one on my wrist.

Unfortunately, the photos aren't particularly clear (and my eyesight is not perfect), which means that I am unable to make out what brand any of these watches actually are. Perhaps you could include a sort of guided tour of the watches photographed.

from Left to Right: a very inexpensive Denacci, Seiko Kinetic, Roamer, Seiko Solar, Pebble!

Love the speedy! How do you read the time on it? Do you only really on the hour and minute hand and the seconds and is only used for timing?

Hour and minute hand tell the time. The subdial to the left is seconds. The middle subdial is hours for the chrono feature, and the right subdial is minutes for the chrono feature.

Thank you, and quite lovely. Well wear, and long may you enjoy it. Actually, I am a fan of Omega, and wear one myself (a classic, elegant, rather understated Deville, that I have had for the past six years, it was a Christmas belated present to myself in January 2010). Does your lovely chronometer have a date function, by the way?

no date function. I thought I would miss having a date function, but its actually nice to not have to set the date after not wearing it for a few days.

Thanks for the reply; I couldn't see whether or not it had a date function, and so thought to ask you.

So it is a manual wind, then? Ah, interesting. Haven't had one of those in a very long time. Personally, I find the date function to be rather useful - and find that it is especially useful when you are taking notes, or minutes, and need to swiftly check the date.

Have a Speedy as well (sapphire sandwich). Love it as it is the most versatile watch in my collection.

I have been debating for months between a Tudor Black Bay Burgundy or a Omega Speedy Walter Schirra edition.

Thoughts on either? Pros? Cons?

Both have a great vintage vibe.

I really like the Tudor but I'd also opt for the Speedy. It's a modern classic. I hope to own one myself one day.

Thanks for the reply what about the Omega would make it more reliable?
Just the brand in general tend to be more reliable I have been reliably informed. My brother in law deals with watches and part of that is handling repairs through his chain of stores. Omega apparently go wrong the least in his experience whereas Rolex pick up the higher numbers. Hope this helps a bit. :)

I'm curious could that be due to volume of pieces sold?
